Upon hearing Miss Justice's greeting, " The Fool " Klein was suddenly filled with strong emotions.
After learning about the other person's identity, status, appearance, and situation, he gained a deeper understanding of the lightheartedness, cheerfulness, and sunny disposition in Audrey's tone of " Justice," and understood where their essence came from. However, Klein did not feel envious Envy because of this, nor did he think that the other person lacked the tempering of hardship. Instead, he felt that in a world where the underlying rules were full of chaos, Distortion, and madness, it was really good that such a lady existed.
A slight smile appeared on his face, and he nodded gently in response to Miss " Justice's" greeting.
After the Tarot Club members had finished exchanging greetings, " The Hermit " Cattleya adjusted her glasses, turned to the side, and bowed to the blurry figure shrouded in Gray Fog at the head of the bronze table:
"Dear Mr. ' The Fool,' this time there are three pages of the diary."
" The Mystery Queen is finally back online..." Klein thought to himself, then smiled and said:
"Very good."
A few seconds later, with permission granted, the " The Hermit " Cattleya materialized the diary, watching it "jump" into the palm of the " The Fool ".
Klein glanced at it casually, and suddenly exclaimed "Huh?" in his mind.
He discovered that the diary provided by the " Mystery Queen " this time seemed to belong to the early period of Emperor Roselle, and did not appear to contain any important information.
Normally, if the importance cannot be determined, the later entries in the diary would be prioritized, as this would best reveal the mystery of Emperor Roselle's "assassination"... I believe the " Mystery Queen " has sufficient intelligence... Klein muttered to himself, while carefully reading the first page of the diary:
"On September 21, I arrived in Saint Milom and officially began my first overseas trip with a tour group."
"It's really cold in Feysac. It's not even October yet, and it looks like it's going to snow. No wonder the specialties here are all kinds of coats and winter clothing, and also, strong liquor!"
"Damn, the people here are ridiculously tall. No wonder it's a land of Giant. But I still have to say, I hate it when people look down on me!"
"Tonight, I'm going to the tavern to find a beautiful woman named Feysac to drink with!"
Upon seeing this, Klein suddenly suspected that the " Mystery Queen " Bernadette provided these pages of the diary to inquire whether she had an older or younger brother of Feysac blood.
Suppressing a silent murmur of disapproval, Klein's gaze swept over the second entry in the diary:
"On September 22nd, I think I blacked out..."
"What happened last night? Where's my beautiful Feysac? I didn't even drink with her!"
"The people at the embassy told me that the girls here often drink more than the men..."
"I need to be more careful about going to pubs in the future, or I might get picked up by some old lady while I'm drunk..."
"The liquor here is really strong; I've had a headache all day. Thankfully, it's not my butt that hurts. I need to get some sleep; we're going to visit the Giant King's Court tomorrow."
"On September 23, the Giant King's Court was indeed magnificent and splendid, like a myth descending to reality; the building seemed to have been prepared entirely for Giant."
"As a heretic, I can only wander around outside. Even the square at the foot of the Giant King's Court is filled with the aroma of wine!"
"There are quite a few people here, some kneeling, some sitting, and some playing bone flutes, creating a melodious and expansive atmosphere."
"I met a Feysac man who played the bone flute. Even compared to his compatriots, he was ridiculously tall, probably close to three meters."
"His name is Oneg, and he claims to be from one of the purest bloodlines of the Feysac Giant. The way he plays the bone flute is melancholic, as if he doesn't belong here, yet doesn't know where to go. He's more like a poet than those guys from Intis who only know how to fawn over women. Speaking of which, I can't help but complain again. Those guys actually take pride in having that kind of disease, which is a complete disruption to the social scene!"
"I chatted with Oneg for a while and brought up the question I had just asked. He said he was just missing his homeland."
"The problem is, he's a typical Saint Milom and has never left this place."
" Oneg didn't answer me immediately. He played the bone flute for a few more minutes before saying that he longed for the source of the Giant bloodline, the Giant King's Court in mythology."
He told me that he and his tribe of Feysac often dream of high mountains, huge city walls built on them, palaces, towers and various buildings that are forever bathed in the light of Twilight, which are similar to the Giant King's Court, but even more incredible, epic and miraculous.
Without needing to be told, Oneg and his people were convinced that this was the Giant King's Court.
"At the end of the conversation, Oneg slowly stood up and said thank you for listening. He was leaving Feysac to find the Giant King's Court, to find the homeland of his spirit and soul."
He believed that the easternmost region of the Sonia Sea might hold the path to the Giant King's Court.
He said that thousands of years have passed and the Giant have never forgotten their homeland. Now, it is his turn to follow in the footsteps of his ancestors. This path will never end until the end is reached.
He played the bone flute again, and the melodious yet sorrowful tune gradually faded into the distance.
"My hometown..."
Homeland... Upon reading this, Klein felt for the first time a complete resonance between his emotions and those of the Emperor.
Although Roselle only wrote three seemingly repetitive words in the end, without explaining his inner thoughts, Klein completely understood the Emperor's emotional fluctuations at that moment, because he and Roselle, like Oneg, had a spiritual and mental homeland.
With a sigh, Klein turned to the second page of his diary:
On January 10th, I visited Sonia Island.
"This place is also known as the Ancient Elves Island, where there are many Elf relics and remnants of customs."
"I was shocked on the first day. The Elf could actually make 'blood tofu,' liked to eat animal offal, and were skilled at using spices?"
They even invented chopsticks?
"Think about the Elf figures in the murals. Apart from some with blue hair, the outlines, hair color, and eyes of the rest are similar to those of Asia on Earth. Could they be fellow countrymen?"
Yes, I had that same doubt for a moment, but then I thought it was impossible for so many people to have traveled all at once—they'd practically become a race! And then I wondered if I was overthinking it... There's no way that lifestyle habits and food utensils that exist on Earth could possibly originate here... Klein read on quickly with great interest, wondering if Roselle had investigated the reason:
"January 13th. I've been busy collecting cultural relics, ancient books, and folk legends here these past few days, and I've forgotten to write in my diary for several days."
"Although many things have long been taken away by the major churches, I have still gained some valuable things."
"Various legends record that the Elf King Soniathrym invented chopsticks, cooked food with animal organs and blood, and that this ancient god was good at distinguishing spices. They all believe that he was the Progenitor, the first Elf, who, for some reason, led his people away from the Western Continent, which only existed in mythology, and came to the Northern Continent."
"Could this person be the first time traveler from our hometown?"
"And then a race emerged? The ancient gods were omnipotent, including in bearing children?"
"It seems he has a wife, who is also Elf, hmm... I fell into deep thought."
"On January 16th, further investigation revealed that the Elf might indeed be unrelated to the time travelers, at least they did not leave behind any symbols related to Chinese or English."
"They seemed to be using Elvish the whole time, which didn't feel familiar to me at all."
"Moreover, those common inventions did not exist before my arrival, nor did many famous sayings; what existed were only proverbs and fables with similar meanings but completely different examples."
"Currently, none of the items and legends support my conjecture, which makes me a little disappointed but also relieved. If I were to encounter another or other time travelers, I really wouldn't know how to face them."
"On January 17th, I dreamt of my almost forgotten hometown."
Sure enough, the Emperor initially abandoned that guess... Klein turned the page again, looking at the last page of the diary:
"On April 2nd, my daughter is so smart, she could talk before she was even 1 year old! Although she has only learned a few words so far, I believe that her progress will not be slow!"
"She inherited that from me!"
"I looked at her from left to right and felt that she was a little bit like me when I was on Earth. Could it be that the soul can bring some kind of heredity? Haha, let's just say that's it."
" Bernadette, it's a nice name, it sounds beautiful, but I always have this urge to give her a Chinese nickname."
"Sigh, she'll never see her real grandparents..."
"On April 3rd, the sudden feelings that arose yesterday almost kept me awake, but thankfully I can Cogitation."
"However, this also made me consider a question: whether or not I should privately teach Bernadette Chinese."
"No, no, if she understands what I wrote in my diary, I'd rather die than not find a block of tofu to smash my head against. In my daughter's heart, her father must be full of glory."
"But writing a diary in Chinese is the last link I have with the earth and the past, and my daughter should inherit this link in some way."
"On April 6th, after several days of consideration, I decided to teach Bernadette two Chinese characters as special symbols, telling her that they were protective incantations given to her by her father, and that she should remember them forever."
She doesn't need to understand the meaning, she just needs to remember it.
These two Chinese characters are:
"Home."
Hometown... Klein repeated the word again, his eyes even getting a little hot.
He finally understood why the " Mystery Queen " Bernadette had chosen these three pages of her diary: they contained the protective symbol her father had left her.
"Home."
At that moment, Klein seemed to see a river of emotions, flowing calmly on the surface, but with countless turbulent currents churning beneath.
Klein then looked away, making the diary disappear, and looked up at " The Hermit " Cattleya, saying:
What is your question?
