Klein rescued passengers from Bansy Harbor’s supernatural crisis and learned that its old name, Bincy, connected it to Medici and Rose Redemption. After releasing Danitz in Bayam, Klein began preparing to hunt Steel Maviti and investigated the death of an adventurer corrupted by a Beyonder Characteristic.
Klein and Alger used the bounty on Danitz to eliminate Steel Maviti and his allies, after which Klein joined Danitz in investigating the Sea God Kavithua’s corruption. Klein helped expose the threat, survived Kavithua’s final storm, and entered its ruins, where he claimed the transformed scepter after killing the priest who had served it.
Klein took up the Sea God Scepter and answered the prayers of Kavithua’s believers while pursuing a messenger, investigating Elaine, and entering the Tarot Club’s affairs. The stretch ended with Danitz fleeing Blue Eyes Mith and asking Klein to go to Generous to meet his captain.
Klein pursued Tracy aboard the Black Death, uncovered Azik’s connection to Katarina Pelle, and learned more about the mystery surrounding Death and Groselle’s Travels. As he sought a way to remove mental corruption from a Beyonder characteristic, a lead on the Hermits of Fate emerged, while Mithor King’s hunt for Klein brought them face to face.
Klein killed Mithor King and Oz Kent, then escorted Darkwill to Oravi Island while dealing with the Die of Probability. After securing Kindling and pursuing his Marionettist preparations, Klein accepted a mission to impersonate Admiral Amyrius Rieveldt and began the role under strict conditions.
Klein impersonated Admiral Amyrius in Oravi, uncovered the Celestial Sect’s attempt to corrupt him, and returned to his own identity after the real Amyrius came back. He then joined Cattleya’s voyage east, survived an encounter with Agarito’s Black Death, and reached the dangerous Sea of Ruins.
Klein survived the dangerous shared dreams, defeated Ludwell, and advanced to Marionettist before Bernadette revealed more about the waters and the Giant King’s Court. Meanwhile, Derrick’s team uncovered the Rose Redemption altar in Afternoon Town, and Klein followed Leomaster’s divided personalities toward a possible route to the Forsaken Land of the Gods.
Klein hunted Gillschies, learned more about the dangers surrounding the Black Death, and helped Anderson lose his bad luck. He then entered Groselle's Travels with Danitz and Anderson to rescue Edwina, finding her among a strange band of companions as the story neared its end.
Klein and his companions escaped Groselle’s Travels after defeating Yurizan, and Klein later explored the book’s memories of the Giant King’s Court. In Bayam, Klein investigated Connors Victor, pursued leads about the Antigonus Family Notebook, and prepared to travel to Connaught City after identifying the missing scientist Turan von Hermosuin.
Klein escaped the Rose School of Thought, captured Senor, and returned to Backlund as Dawn Dantès, where he built a new household and investigated the Williams Street ruins. The Tarot Club learned more about the Blood Emperor and Mr. Door, while Emlyn killed Ruth Báthory and claimed the Moon Puppet as a blood-red moon rose.
As Dawn Dantès built a place in Backlund society, Klein investigated threats around his household, negotiated a share purchase, and prepared to assassinate Mr. X. The stretch ended with Klein meeting William Sykes at the Kingdom Museum while Leonard’s investigation threatened to expose his past identity.
Klein killed Mr. X and acquired his abilities, while the Tarot Club arranged trades in Lemano’s Travel Notes. Emlyn hunted two artificial Vampires and won a place on the Viscount shortlist, as Klein investigated Mary’s proposed business deal and prepared for his ball.
Klein confronted a second personality, joined Alger on the primitive island, and recovered a Tyrant Card of Blasphemy before returning to Backlund. As he hosted a ball and investigated Hibbert’s strange behavior, Xio pursued military merit and the Tarot Club discussed Klein’s newly acquired characteristics.
Klein’s attempt to steal the Antigonus Family Notebook led him into Foggy Town, where he bargained with Panatiya and uncovered Zaratul’s escape route. He escaped the ancient cathedral with a Bizarro Sorcerer formula, returned to Backlund, and became a target of Leonard’s investigation.
As Leonard investigated Dawn Dantès, Klein pursued an arms deal and a charity fund while danger gathered around Backlund. At the Tarot Club, Audrey learned that Dawn was an identity shared by Klein and his companions, while Klein discovered a Marauder demigod had infiltrated Hibbert’s household and decided against traveling to West Balam without Azik.
Klein helped Sharron and Maric steal Tutanssess II’s mummy, then learned that Amon’s avatar had arrived in Backlund and prepared to travel to the Southern Continent. The arc left Klein aboard a military airship, while Danitz encountered Anderson in Port Pritz and Leonard joined the same journey with the Red Gloves.
Klein’s search for marionettes led him to Azik and the mausoleum tied to Death’s legacy, where Azik chose to remain himself rather than merge with Artificial Death. The group parted, leaving Klein with Ludwell as a marionette and questions about Calderón City.
Klein explored Calderón City and defeated a Spirit World Plunderer, while the investigation into Ince Zangwill uncovered his alliance with the Red Angel and 0-08. The hunt ended with Klein killing Ince, Adam confirming Klein had digested his potion, and Daly finding comfort in a vision of Dunn Smith.
Klein completed his advancement, discovered that Earth’s transmigrators had been trapped in cocoons, and drew new allies into the Tarot Club as threats gathered around Backlund. The arc left Klein returning toward the city, Emlyn assigned to investigate the Rose School and a corrupting castle, and a mysterious Calamity active under the crimson moon.
Klein returned to Backlund, where he encountered Amon while pursuing a Marauder demigod and began preparing with Leonard and Pallez to counter Amon’s avatars under concealment. Meanwhile, Audrey faced Herabergen Rambis’s manipulation, Emlyn organized a plan to capture Ernes Boyar, and Klein explored ways to advance and create safe darkness for Derrick’s ritual.
