After becoming a Seer and helping recover the notebook, Klein pursued the Clown potion formula and produced a portrait of a witness to Hynas Vincent’s exchange with Welch.
Klein pursued the Antigonus Family Notebook’s clues, advanced from Seer to Clown, and uncovered threats tied to the Aurora Order and the Demoness Sect. The stretch ended with Kenley dead and Dunn beside his bloodied corpse.
Klein built a new life in Backlund while pursuing Ince Zangwill and confronting the Aurora Order, the True Creator’s followers, and other threats. After advancing to Magician, he accepted a case involving a spirit haunting Adol.
Klein stole Roselle’s Black Emperor card, hunted the Wraith Steve, and rescued Daisy while uncovering threats linked to Amon and the Abraham family. The volume ended with Derrick fighting Dark in the City of Silver as Chief Colin began investigating.
Klein uncovered the Apostle of Desire’s trail, investigated Amon’s mausoleum, and became caught in the events surrounding Trissy and the Great Smog. After the smog killed Old Kohler, Liv, and Freja, he left Backlund under the name Gehrman Sparrow to search for mermaids and advance.
Klein hunted pirates, uncovered Kavithua’s corruption, and claimed its transformed scepter, which he used to answer the Sea God’s believers while pursuing other investigations. He learned more about Azik, Death, and the Hermits of Fate, and the stretch ended with Mithor King recognizing him and Klein firing at Mithor.
Klein impersonated Admiral Amyrius, traveled into the Sea of Ruins, and advanced to Marionettist while investigating its dangers and the Giant King’s Court. He entered Groselle’s Travels with Danitz and Anderson to find Edwina, and learned that the book’s story was nearing its end.
Klein left the book’s world, returned to Backlund under the Dawn Dantès identity, and hunted Mr. X while building a place in society. He killed Mr. X and gained Traveler’s Door, as Emlyn advanced toward the Viscount shortlist and Klein prepared for a ball.
Klein recovered the Tyrant Card, escaped Foggy Town with knowledge of the Bizarro Sorcerer advancement, and faced growing danger from Amon and other demigods in Backlund. He left for the Southern Continent aboard a military airship, with Leonard and Daly joining the journey.
Klein obtained Ludwell, killed Ince Zangwill with his allies, and advanced to Bizarro Sorcerer before discovering Earthlings suspended in cocoons above the gray fog. He returned to Backlund and prepared to oppose Amon’s avatars with Leonard and Pallez while the Tarot Club pursued investigations of its own.
Klein and his allies uncovered George III’s plan to pursue the Black Emperor pathway while surviving attacks, investigating ancient secrets, and preparing to oppose the king. The story left Klein allied with Bernadette against George III, while Derrick headed for Afternoon Town and Danitz told Anderson about a secluded island.
Klein investigated George III’s mausoleums and destroyed his advancement ritual with Trissy, then endured Amon’s captivity and discovered at Chernobyl that he had never left Earth. After escaping, Klein pursued Kotar for Miracle Invoker ingredients while the Tarot Club prepared a trap for Botis.
Klein defeated powerful enemies, helped the City of Silver and Moon City, and advanced to Miracle Invoker while learning that the Apocalypse would arrive when the barrier around the world faded. He left Beldan after containing 0-02 and turned toward preparing for his next advancement, while Derrick’s team reached Bayam.
Klein moved the City of Silver and Moon City into the outside world, built Utopia, and fought to advance while the Apocalypse approached. He became The Fool but entered a long slumber to suppress the Celestial Worthy’s will, leaving the Tarot Club to protect the world and prepare for his return.
