Background / History

Previous Life and Birth

Ye Chen was a university student who spent his spare time reading novels and playing games. He died of anger after an enemy healer backdoored his game, then transmigrated into the Ye Lineage, a supreme human faction whose ancestor was a Dao Venerable 1.

His birth produced visions of primordial chaos opening, ancestors descending, and ten thousand immortals bowing. The ancestor concealed these phenomena with a formation. After discovering Ye Chen’s Chaos Dao Physique and fully awakened ancestral bloodline, the lineage appointed him its Divine Son at birth 1.

Despite receiving instruction from the ancestor and seven patriarchs, Ye Chen preferred sleeping, fishing, playing pranks, and watching holy maidens dance. Having spent his previous life studying without enjoying university, he wanted to use his privileged new life for leisure rather than relentless cultivation 1.

Descent to Heavenly Profound

As Ye Chen approached eighteen, the patriarchs ordered him to undergo tempering in the lower realm. He could return only after becoming an Immortal King. Although he pretended to be distressed, he welcomed the opportunity to leave home and explore 1 2.

The Seventh Ancestor, Ye Wuhen, also charged him with guiding the branch families remaining in the lineage’s ancestral homeland. His parents and ancestors supplied him with immense wealth, weapons, talismans, and other treasures before the patriarch teleported him to the Heavenly Profound Continent. The sign-in system activated immediately afterward 2 3.

Finding the Scattered Lineage

After his first system-assisted breakthrough, Ye Chen killed cultivators who attempted to seize him and destroyed Black Stone City’s Wang Lineage, Chen Lineage, and Hehuan Sect. A map led him toward the Ye Lineage’s ancestral grounds 4 5.

He instead found the Huayun Sect occupying the site. Searching its expert’s memories revealed that enemies had cultivated proxy sects to hunt the weakened Ye Lineage’s survivors. Ye Chen destroyed Huayun and followed its latest lead to the Clear Wind Kingdom 6.

There, he rescued Ye Yan and accompanied him home. After killing Elder Chen and Wang Shuiyan, he revealed his identity to Ye Xuan. His youthful appearance initially caused confusion, but his upper-realm origins established his extraordinary genealogical seniority over the branch family 7 8 11.

Restoring the Heavenly Profound Branch

Ye Xuan recounted the lineage’s collapse following Heavenly Emperor Ye Ming’s death and the attacks that followed his funeral. Ye Chen authorized the public announcement of his return, while keeping his precise upper-realm identity restricted. He began supplying cultivation resources suited to the branch’s low-level members 11 12 14.

Ye Chen replaced the family’s policy of enduring abuse with forceful retaliation. He backed Ye Yan against Zhang Wei, destroyed the City Lord’s Manor, and later eliminated the Falling Snow Sect and its representatives threatening the lineage 14 20 22.

To establish a deterrent, he ordered the entire family to attack the Breeze Sect, providing a spirit beast pouch as protection against stronger opponents. After the victory, he rewarded the lineage and declared that its future domain would extend from the Clear Wind Kingdom to the entire Heavenly Profound Continent 22 23 26 28.

Investigating the Ancient Calamity

Gaps in the family’s historical records prompted Ye Chen to investigate the war of a hundred thousand years earlier. Conflicting accounts of the branch’s Great Emperors—whether dead, missing, or imprisoned—reinforced his suspicion that its downfall concealed unresolved secrets 12 16.

After helping Ye Yan obtain Wuyazi’s inheritance, Ye Chen spent half a month studying at Azure Province Academy. Qingxuan explained the Heavenly Court’s collapse and the continuing struggle between forces hunting the Ye Lineage and those secretly protecting it. Ye Chen chose investigation over simply exterminating its enemies, since doing so would leave the past unexplained 31 33 34.

Heavenly Origin Holy Land

On his journey, Ye Chen shared a meal with Ye Tian and quietly strengthened him in repayment. When the protective power he had left in the boy was disturbed, Ye Chen intervened and accepted an invitation to Heavenly Origin Holy Land 36 37 41.

A concealed scent of blood and the carnage inside its entrance trials aroused his suspicions. Ye Tian then identified an inner sect elder as the murderer of his village and revealed that its inhabitants had been targeted for bearing the Ye surname. Ye Chen openly declared his own surname and confronted the holy land 41 44 45 46.

He broke its blood-sacrifice formation, killed its leaders, and annihilated the Blood Refining Devil Emperor’s remaining soul after it possessed Tian Yuanzi. He retrieved Ye Tian, seized the treasury and scripture pavilion, and destroyed the holy land 47 48 49.

Return to Ye City

Ye Chen spared Heavenly Origin Holy City’s lord after examining his memories and confirming that he had opposed persecuting people surnamed Ye. He recruited the Saint as a Ye Lineage steward and returned with him and Ye Tian 50.

Clearwater Town had become the much larger Ye City. Most lineage members had reached Xiantian, while Ye Xuan and the senior members had advanced to Origin Core. Still dissatisfied with their pace, Ye Chen prepared a more extensive transformation using newly acquired resources and began searching the Eastern Domain for further opportunities, including a mature top-grade spirit vein 50.

Appearance

  • Face: Exceptionally handsome, with swordlike brows and starry eyes 1.
  • Bearing: Transcendent and otherworldly, repeatedly compared to an immortal 1 41.
  • Clothing and posture: Frequently wears white robes and stands with his hands behind his back 6 7 20 36.
  • Released presence: Displays flowing Dao traces, imperial laws, and eyes described through imagery of stars and the birth and death of the cosmos 22.
  • Contained aura: Normally appears mortal to cultivators below Saint because his power is contained within his body and his exterior is shrouded by Dao laws 5.

Personality

Ye Chen is indolent, mischievous, and fond of comfort. His refusal to cultivate frustrates even the lineage’s ancient experts, while his pranks extend to exposing his father’s hidden money and private possessions to his mother. His extraordinary advantages also leave him with little appreciation for resources that ordinary cultivators consider priceless 1 2 12 15.

His protection of the Ye Lineage is fierce but not initially unconditional. He observes Ye Yan and the branch family before deciding how much help they deserve, valuing courage and resistance over passive submission. Once satisfied, he invests heavily in their growth and treats attacks on them as grounds for lethal retaliation 7 11 14 22.

He dislikes being manipulated or left indebted. He warns Luo Chen against using him as a weapon and repays Ye Tian’s hospitality with cultivation assistance. Despite his ruthlessness toward hostile factions, he can distinguish individuals from their affiliations, sparing and recruiting the Holy City lord because of his conduct 33 36 50.
