Background / History

Origins and the Upper-Realm Lineage

The first ancestor rose on the Heavenly Profound Continent during the primordial era. After entering the path of immortality, he led most clansmen to the upper realm, leaving a small number of branch families to guard the ancestral land. He later returned with cultivation resources, and exchanges between the two lineages continued for several eras 11.

The main lineage became the foremost of the Eight Archaic Clans. Its ancestor was humanity’s strongest expert in the Archaic Era and eventually became a Dao Venerable who had completely mastered two Great Daos. By Ye Chen’s lifetime, the lineage remained a supreme-tier human faction renowned across the heavens 1.

Contact with the lower realm ceased after the end of the previous era. During the war a hundred thousand years before Ye Chen’s arrival, the Heavenly Profound branch activated the first ancestor’s communication formation but received no response. Its survivors consequently believed the upper lineage had abandoned them; the reason for the silence is not established 11.

Heavenly Emperor Ye Ming and the Heavenly Court

Ye Ming began as a poorly regarded disciple whose aptitude initially denied him cultivation resources. His perseverance attracted an elder’s patronage, and he eventually attained the Dao as an emperor at five hundred years old. After defeating major opposing powers, he established the Human Heavenly Court with the Ye Lineage at its head and the continent’s holy lands supporting it 16.

At its height, the Heavenly Profound Ye Lineage possessed five Great Emperors. Its descendants’ forceful interventions against injustice also generated resentment among sacred lands, imperial sects, and imperial clans 33.

Calamity and Persecution

A hundred thousand years earlier, spatial black holes opened across the continent and foreign races invaded. Ye Ming led the Human Heavenly Court against them, but returned gravely wounded from a decisive battle and died as his lifespan approached its end. The Heavenly Court then fractured 11 33.

The lineage’s remaining allies died escorting Ye Ming’s coffin to its ancestral land. During the subsequent fighting, his divine soul awakened and unleashed a sword strike that grievously wounded several foreign supreme experts and destroyed hundreds of millions of enemies. Despite this intervention, the lineage’s defenders were overwhelmed 12 33.

A gravely wounded Saint ancestor escaped with younger members of Ye Xuan’s branch, but died soon afterward. Surviving descendants concealed their identities as hostile factions pursued them through proxies such as the Huayun Sect. Ye Xuan’s grandfather eventually brought his family to Clearwater Town 6 12.

Accounts of the Great Emperors’ fates conflict. Memories searched by Ye Chen suggested that all had died in battle, whereas Ye Xuan reported that one disappeared and others were killed or imprisoned. Ye Chen recognized that neither account fully resolved events so long past 12.

Revival Under Ye Chen

Arrival and Recognition

The upper lineage sent Ye Chen to the lower realm to temper himself and guide its surviving branch families. He found the Huayun Sect occupying the former ancestral grounds, uncovered its plans to attack the hidden descendants, and destroyed it 3 6.

After rescuing Ye Yan, Ye Chen intervened when a sect elder threatened the family. Ye Xuan privately verified his connection to the upper lineage, identifying himself as a descendant of the 4,652,893,148th generation. To protect the secret of the upper-realm connection, he publicly introduced Ye Chen simply as a long-lost ancestor 7 11 12.

Ye Chen then purchased the entire stock of Feng City’s Myriad Treasures Chamber of Commerce for over thirty million low-grade spirit stones. The pills, techniques, and spirit artifacts went to the lineage, followed by a separate supply exceeding one hundred million low-grade spirit stones 13 15 16.

Defeat of the Falling Snow and Breeze Sects

The Breeze Sect sought to probe the family’s strength through the Falling Snow Sect before seizing its supposed treasures. Falling Snow representatives accused the lineage of assaulting and murdering disciples and pronounced a death sentence without accepting its objections 16 21.

Ye Yan attacked despite the disparity in strength, inspiring the younger disciples, Ye Xuan, and the elders to charge together. Ye Chen returned, nullified the incoming attack, and killed High Person Xueqing and Chen Xue. He had already destroyed the Falling Snow Sect’s headquarters 20 21 22.

Ye Chen next ordered the lineage to attack the Breeze Sect, supplying a spirit beast pouch containing the Primordial Demon Lightning Ape. When Nan Fa of the Myriad Origins Holy Land intervened, Ye Chen killed him remotely. The lineage destroyed the Breeze Sect and returned victorious 23 26 27 28.

At the subsequent celebration, Ye Xuan declared that the family would replace the Breeze Sect as the Clear Wind Kingdom’s ruling power. The ruler and assembled factions accepted its authority after an objecting patriarch was killed by an unidentified force 29.

Consolidation and Ye City

With abundant resources, the branch attracted independent cultivators and rapidly strengthened its own members. Wan Kong’s attempt to seize its guardian beasts ended when Ye Xuan activated the Great Emperor puppet. Mistaking it for a living emperor, Wan Kong pleaded for mercy and fled after Ye Xuan withheld its attack 42 43.

The lineage invested heavily in rebuilding Clearwater Town into Ye City beside Black Mountain. Other factions supplied resources to gain its favor, while Azure Province Academy contributed both experts and materials 50.

On returning, Ye Chen brought Ye Tian into the family and recruited Holy City’s Saint Realm city lord as a steward. He considered the lineage’s growth too slow despite its advances and began preparing a more thorough transformation. His search for further resources led him to a mature top-grade spirit vein, but its acquisition remained contested by its guardian 50.

Organization and Notable Members

  • First Ancestor — Founder and Dao Venerable of the main lineage; left the lower branch its ancestral resources and communication formation 1 11.
  • Upper-Realm Patriarchs and Ancestors — Direct the main lineage and oversee Ye Chen’s upbringing. Although they agreed to temper him, several secretly supplied him with exceptional protective gifts before his departure 1 3.
  • Ye Wuhen — Seventh Ancestor, famed for devastating campaigns against other races. Entrusted Ye Chen with guiding the lower branches and gave him the Immortal King-grade sword Demon Slayer 3.
  • Ye Ming — Heavenly Emperor and founder of the Human Heavenly Court; central figure in the lower lineage’s former supremacy and resistance to the foreign invasion 11 16 33.
  • Ye Chen — Divine Son of the main lineage from birth, possessing the Chaos Dao Physique and a fully awakened ancestral bloodline. Serves as the lower branch’s protector and principal source of resources 1 12 15.
  • Ye Xuan — Patriarch of the Clearwater branch and Ye Yan’s father. Preserved the family in hiding, led its attack on the Breeze Sect, and later administered its rise 11 12 23 29.
  • Ye Yan — Young cultivator committed to restoring the family’s glory. Travels under Ye Chen’s guidance and later begins alchemy training with Xuan Danzi 7 29 34.
  • Ye Tian — Survivor of the massacre at Ye Lineage Village. Ye Chen protects him from the Heavenly Origin Holy Land and brings him into the lineage 45 46 50.
  • Holy City’s City Lord — An unnamed Saint who opposed harming people surnamed Ye. Spared by Ye Chen and recruited as a steward 50.

Culture and Ancestral Precepts

The lineage’s ancestral precept forbids abandoning a member. Even while fearing retaliation from a much stronger sect, Ye Xuan and the elders defended Ye Yan rather than surrender him 10.

Its Heavenly Profound descendants were historically known for championing justice, while the Clearwater family retained a local reputation for kindness and good conduct. Decades of persecution nevertheless led its elders to teach restraint and avoidance of conflict as survival measures 6 14 21 33.

Ye Chen deliberately reversed that defensive outlook. His protection, resources, and insistence on retaliation restored the family’s willingness to fight, culminating in its collective charge against the Falling Snow representatives and campaign against the Breeze Sect 14 21 23.

Cultivation Heritage and Defenses

Inherited Bloodline

The main lineage carries power inherited from its Dao-recognized ancestor 1.

  • Ye Chen awakened the ancestral bloodline completely, giving him the potential to reach the ancestor’s former heights 1.
  • Ye Chen can recognize branch descendants through their bloodline presence, as he does with Ye Yan 7.

Cultivation Techniques and Resources

  • Main-lineage inheritance: One supreme-quality Dao Venerable-grade technique, restricted to a few ancestral masters 4.
  • Early branch holdings: Its best technique and spirit weapon were only low-grade Mystic Rank before Ye Chen’s purchases 13.
  • Expanded supplies: By the time Wan Kong visited, the branch possessed pills and weapons ranging from Yellow and Mystic Rank to Earth Rank 42.
  • Further rebuilding reserves: Ye Chen returned with system rewards including ten billion top-grade spirit stones, thousands of Earth Grade techniques and martial skills, higher-grade inheritances up to Emperor Grade, pills, and saint medicines. Combined with the Heavenly Origin Holy Land’s resources, these were intended to sustain the lineage’s development 50.

Ancestral Spirits

A secret chamber houses the spirits of earlier generations 11.

  • Their remaining power could kill experts above the Origin Core stage 11.
  • Ye Xuan prepared to use them against Ye Chen if his claimed identity proved false, while arranging the disciples’ evacuation 11.

Guardian Beasts and Puppet

Defense Function and Limits
Primordial Demon Lightning Ape A ninth-tier beast captured by Ye Chen; deployed against the Breeze Sect and later stationed at the lineage. Wan Kong’s Great Saint power overwhelmed its attack 18 26 29 42.
Black Qilin Agreed to guard the lineage for a thousand years in exchange for an immortal pill. It remained weakened when Wan Kong attacked 20 42.
Great Emperor Puppet Activated with supreme-grade spirit stones. Its imperial presence deterred Wan Kong, who mistook it for a living Great Emperor 29 42 43.
Communication Stone Left by Ye Chen so the family could contact him when facing an enemy beyond its ability 29.

Relations with Other Factions

  • Human Heavenly Court — Founded by Ye Ming with the Ye Lineage as its leading power; collapsed following his death 16 33.
  • Huayun Sect — Proxy persecutor that occupied the ancestral grounds and hunted survivors; destroyed by Ye Chen 6.
  • Falling Snow Sect — Participated in probing the family’s strength and condemned it on unsubstantiated accusations; destroyed by Ye Chen 16 20 21 22.
  • Breeze Sect — Former overlord of the Clear Wind Kingdom; sought the family’s treasures and was overthrown by the lineage 23 25 28 29.
  • Myriad Origins Holy Land — Its elder Nan Fa intervened against the family, while Holy Lord Wan Kong later attacked its guardians. The puppet forced Wan Kong’s retreat 26 42 43.
  • Heavenly Origin Holy Land — Conducted secret searches and massacres targeting people surnamed Ye. Ye Chen destroyed it and brought Ye Tian back to the lineage 46 50.
  • Azure Province Academy — Supplied historical information through Qingxuan and later contributed experts and resources to Ye City’s construction 33 34 50.
  • Myriad Treasures Chamber of Commerce — Supplied the branch’s first major infusion of purchased resources. Steward Qian subsequently sought to court the family after its victory over the Breeze Sect 13 15 28.
