Background / History

Childhood in Holy Soul Village

Tang San is a reincarnator who retains memories and techniques from his previous life. Unaware that Tang Feng is another reincarnated soul, he grows up in Holy Soul Village with his withdrawn, alcoholic father, Tang Hao 4 13.

At five, he is already cooking for the household and caring for his father. He later recalls nearly starving several times and surviving by making thin porridge himself. After awakening his Martial Souls at six, he supports his livelihood and schooling through smithing and Spirit Hall’s stipend 13 92.

Shrek Academy and Xiao Wu’s Disappearance

During Shrek’s entrance assessment, Tang San uses poisoned hidden weapons and Tang Sect techniques against Zhao Wuji. When ordinary attacks fail, his Dragon Whisker Needles penetrate Zhao Wuji’s defenses. He also exposes his second Martial Soul during the assessment 45.

When the Titan Giant Ape takes Xiao Wu, Tang San pursues it but stops after encountering a badly wounded Man Faced Demon Spider. Recognizing a rare opportunity to obtain a recommended third ring, he kills the spider and spends twenty-four hours absorbing its ring. He then studies his newly acquired Eight Spider Lances before asking whether Xiao Wu has been found 49 50.

Afterward, he grows close to Meng Yiran through their shared interest in hidden weapons. He is pleased that she appreciates their mechanisms and applications, while Yu Xiaogang helps him investigate his new Soul Skill and External Soul Bone 50 51.

Hidden-Weapon Business and the Tournament

Ning Rongrong introduces Tang San’s hidden weapons to Ning Fengzhi, leading to a bulk-purchase agreement with the Seven Treasure Glazed Tile Sect. Tang San quotes one thousand Gold Soul Coins per set when the sect supplies the forged components and he handles the core mechanisms and assembly. Receiving five hundred thousand Gold Soul Coins strengthens his determination to rebuild the Tang Sect 91 92.

As Shrek’s level 41 vice-captain, he enters the tournament without the immortal herbs that Tang Feng has already obtained. Xue Qinghe eventually explains Tang Hao’s identity and Clear Sky Sect origins to him 31 101 103.

In a duel with Feng Xiaotian, Tang San reveals the Clear Sky Hammer when Blue Silver Grass proves insufficient. The display attracts Spirit Hall’s hostility. His doubts about Blue Silver Grass are subsequently eased by Flender and Yu Xiaogang, who encourage him to treat it as a stepping stone toward developing his second Martial Soul 104.

Crippling of the Clear Sky Hammer

During the finals, Tang San channels gathered power through the Clear Sky Hammer, temporarily raising his presence to the peak of Soul Emperor. Bibi Dong then condemns him as a Clear Sky Sect successor and descendant of Spirit Hall’s enemies 149 150.

While Tang Hao is restrained by Qian Jun and Jiang Mo, Chrysanthemum Douluo and Ghost Douluo attack Tang San’s Clear Sky Hammer origin. Tang Hao detonates five Soul Rings to rescue him, aggravating his own longstanding injuries 151.

Tang San’s Soul Power level survives the attack, but the hammer becomes almost impossible to sense. Despite his own soul injury, he uses Mysterious Heaven Skill energy to protect Tang Hao’s vital organs and temporarily stabilize him 151.

Attempted Return to the Clear Sky Sect

Tang San later accompanies Tang Hao, Tang Yuehua, and Meng Yiran to the Clear Sky Sect, seeking recognition and help restoring his Martial Soul. Tang Xiao admires his level 55 cultivation and resilience but explains that admission requires a full sect assembly 200.

At the assembly, Tang San insists on challenging the Seventh Elder and is first matched against level 69 Tang Hu. He endures for roughly half an hour using Blue Silver Emperor, his domain, Soul Bone abilities, and Tang Sect techniques, but loses to Tang Hu’s superior reserves and Clear Sky Nine Absolutes. Tang Hu withdraws most of his final strike’s force 201 202.

The elders acknowledge Tang San’s talent and offer father and son an opportunity rather than dismissing them outright. Their encounter becomes associated with a five-year agreement, which Tang San later claims to have fulfilled 203 279.

Founding the Tang Sect

Tang San moves into the Star Luo sphere and rebuilds the Tang Sect with Dai Mubai’s backing. Lou Gao brings the blacksmith association’s core craftsmen into the sect, establishing a production base for mechanical hidden weapons. Military purchases bind the organization to the Star Luo Imperial Family 204 222.

Initially, Tang San does not know that Dai Mubai is secretly forwarding half of the purchased weapons toward Spirit City. When he later discovers Spirit Hall troops equipped with Tang Sect weapons, he recognizes Dai Mubai’s involvement and resents being used 222 278.

Patricide and Rapid Advancement

Tang Hao repeatedly urges Tang San to abandon his cooperation with Dai Mubai and leave Star Luo. Tang San instead accuses him of childhood neglect and of concealing the feud that led to his hammer’s destruction. Their confrontation triggers a collapse in Tang Hao’s health 257 258.

Encouraged by Yu Xiaogang, Tang San leaves his dying father unattended for two days before using the Eight Spider Lances to drain his vitality and Clear Sky Hammer origin. Tang Xiao arrives too late to save Tang Hao and nearly kills Tang San, but Bai He intervenes. Tang Xiao then disowns him from the Clear Sky Sect’s Tang family 258.

After repairing his hammer, Tang San takes Yu Xiaogang as his adoptive father. He orders the Tang Sect to obtain high-age Soul Bones by robbery or force, with Star Luo intelligence supporting attacks on established factions. He then enters Star Dou Great Forest with Yu Xiaogang, Meng Shu, and Chao Tianxiang, rapidly advancing through Soul Ring absorption and devouring 259 271.

War and the Evil God Inheritance

At Jialing Pass, Tang San denounces the Clear Sky Sect and demands a match with Tang Feng. Tang Jian answers instead, overpowering him through superior hammer techniques, physical strength, defensive abilities, and Ring Detonation. Tang San’s poisoned vines and Torrential Pear Blossom Needles fail to reverse the battle 279 280.

Tang San subsequently devours Dai Mubai and massacres the Star Luo Imperial Family to complete the Evil God’s sixth trial. He continues draining Star Luo City’s nobles, Soul Masters, stronger commoners, and former benefactors, including Meng Shu and Chao Tianxiang 284 285.

After completing the inheritance, he challenges Tang Feng as the Evil God. Tang Feng shatters his divine claws and divine seat with the Clear Sky Divine Hammer, stripping him of godhood and reducing him to level 89 less than an hour after his emergence 285.

Appearance

  • Childhood: Smaller and thinner than other children his age, with clear black-and-white eyes and an unusually mature, composed gaze 13.
  • Family resemblance: Tang Xiao notes his resemblance to Ah Yin 200.
  • At Jialing Pass: Wears a dark blue combat outfit and carries the Clear Sky Hammer 279.
  • As the Evil God: Wears black divine robes; the Eight Spider Lances become eight enormous black feathered wings spanning several dozen feet 285.

Personality

Tang San initially displays maturity, discipline, and filial devotion. As a young child, he manages household chores and cares for Tang Hao; after their escape from Spirit City, he prioritizes stabilizing his father over grieving his own ruined Martial Soul 13 151.

His competitiveness repeatedly overrides caution. He accepts Feng Xiaotian’s unnecessary individual challenge rather than be overshadowed and later refuses to withdraw his challenge to the Seventh Elder despite Tang Xiao’s warning 104 201.

The Tang Sect becomes the center of his identity. His first major earnings inspire a vow to restore its glory, and he eventually considers the organization more important than his own life. He rejects Tang Hao’s demand that he leave Star Luo because doing so would mean abandoning the sect 92 258.

Resentment increasingly replaces his earlier attachment to family. He blames Tang Hao for his childhood and crippled hammer, treats the Clear Sky Sect’s rejection as an insult to avenge, and ultimately kills his father to recover his power. Although he struggles before committing the act, afterward he focuses on his restored hammer and ambitions for the Tang Sect 257 258.

His pursuit of strength escalates into organized plunder and indiscriminate devouring. He orders attacks to seize Soul Bones, murders Dai Mubai despite their former brotherhood, and drains the elderly experts who helped make his rise possible 259 284 285.

Abilities & Skills

Twin Martial Souls

Tang San possesses both a plant-type control Martial Soul and the Clear Sky Hammer, allowing him to cultivate two independent Soul Ring configurations 4 271.

  • Uses Blue Silver Grass while initially keeping the more politically dangerous hammer concealed 4.
  • Eventually possesses eighteen Soul Rings across both Martial Souls 271.
  • Exploits high-age rings on his second Martial Soul to accelerate his cultivation 271.
  • His rapid growth creates a physical burden: even six Soul Bones and ninety-thousand-year Eight Spider Lances leave him struggling to bear all eighteen rings’ energy 271.

Blue Silver Emperor

His Blue Silver Grass awakens as Blue Silver Emperor before his return to the Clear Sky Sect. Its blue-gold vines are thicker than ordinary Blue Silver Grass and possess vitality-devouring properties 200 201.

Skill Applications and limits
First Soul Skill — Entanglement Sends vines from multiple directions to bind an opponent. Tang Hu shatters them through a strength-based shock wave 201.
Third Soul Skill — Spider Web Restraint Projects an adhesive, resilient purple-black web over thirty feet across. In his battle with Tang Hu, it carries the Eight Spider Lances’ poison 202.
Fourth Soul Skill — Blue Silver Cage Control skill obtained from a Cave Demon Spider over five thousand years old 101.
Blue Silver Thorn Array Faster-activating variation of Blue Silver Cage that attacks with numerous spikes 104.
Fifth Soul Skill — Blue Silver Overlord Spear Forms a roughly twelve-foot blue-gold energy spear. Granted by the innate ring associated with Blue Silver Emperor’s awakening 202.
Blue Silver Domain Covers a hundred-foot radius during the Tang Hu duel, greatly improving Soul Power recovery and physical perception 202.
  • Without the immortal herbs and Ice and Fire Body Tempering, his Blue Silver Grass lacks ice and fire immunity 101.
  • Tang Jian’s scorching hammer flames burn his attacking vines to ash, while Tang Jian’s poison resistance neutralizes their venom 280.

Clear Sky Hammer

Tang San’s second Martial Soul provides overwhelming striking power. Its origin is crippled by Spirit Hall and restored three years later through devouring Tang Hao 151 258.

  • Disorder Splitting Wind Hammer / Chaotic Cloak: Successive blows build and stack momentum; he uses it against Feng Xiaotian’s thirty-six consecutive slashes 104 149.
  • Later development: Reaches a documented weight of sixty thousand jin and ultimately carries nine black Soul Rings 271 279.
  • Technical limitation: He never learns the Clear Sky Nine Absolutes or Great Sumeru Hammer, leaving his knowledge centered on Disorder Splitting Wind Hammer and ring-granted skills 271 280.
  • Temporary amplification: During the finals, gathered power raises his four-ring presence to the peak of Soul Emperor; this is not a permanent cultivation advancement 149.

Tang Sect Secret Arts

Technique Demonstrated use
Mysterious Heaven Skill Otherworldly cultivation method; preserves his Soul Power level after the hammer-origin injury and supplies regenerating Qi used to stabilize Tang Hao 101 151.
Purple Demon Eye Enhances visual observation, tracks hammer movements, and sees through Demon Charm’s illusion-filled red mist. Soul injury temporarily makes it difficult to focus 150 151 202.
Mysterious Jade Hand Turns his hands jade-like for close combat and defense; has limits against sustained powerful attacks 45 104 202.
Ghost Shadow Perplexing Track Unpredictable footwork used for evasion and positioning 45 49 202.
Controlling Crane Capturing Dragon Helps him neutralize Zhao Wuji’s strength in close combat 45.
Four Ounces Deflect a Thousand Pounds Redirects the side of a descending hammer strike rather than meeting its full force head-on 202.

Eight Spider Lances and Devouring

The Eight Spider Lances are an External Soul Bone obtained with his third ring. They become his principal means of stealing vitality and accelerating his development 50 258 271.

  • Extend from his back for piercing attacks, defense, and ground-assisted movement 202.
  • Possess deadly poison that can be incorporated into Spider Web Restraint 202.
  • Drain vitality, Soul Power, and compatible Martial Soul origin; this restores his Clear Sky Hammer at Tang Hao’s expense 258 284.
  • Evolve to seventy thousand years during his rise to level 87 and ninety thousand years by level 93 271.
  • Transform into black feathered wings upon completion of the Evil God Inheritance 285.

Hidden-Weapon Design and Manufacture

Tang San retains the Hidden Weapon Hundred Separations and other weapon knowledge from his previous life. He designs, assembles, poisons, and deploys concealed weapons ranging from simple projectiles to elaborate mechanical devices 4 45 92.

  • Develops mass-production arrangements with the Seven Treasure Glazed Tile Sect and later Lou Gao’s craftsmen 92 222.
  • Supplies weapons that allow support-type Soul Masters to threaten stronger opponents 91 92.
  • Uses advanced devices to hunt high-age Soul Beasts with exceptional efficiency 271.
  • His weapons are not universally effective: Zhao Wuji withstands most of his early projectiles, while Tang Jian completely blocks his Torrential Pear Blossom Needles 45 280.

Evil God Power

Tang San gains the inheritance after consuming the Dark Demon Evil God Tiger’s energy and Evil God Pearl. The inherited position belongs to a First-Level God associated with pure evil thoughts 271.

  • Strengthens Evil God Power through devouring human lives 284 285.
  • Projects divine pressure capable of terrifying ordinary soldiers and warhorses 285.
  • Forms enormous black claws from concentrated divine power 285.
  • Loses all divine power when Tang Feng destroys his divine seat 285.
