Background
Tang Feng was an ordinary office worker on Blue Star before a drunk driver struck him after a blind date. He reincarnated on Douluo Continent with limited memories of its original story, no inherited cultivation techniques, and no system. His earliest reason for pursuing godhood was the hope that divine power might let him return to see his original parents 1.
He was born to Tang Yi, a rank forty-one Clear Sky Hammer Soul Ancestor, and Yang Jin, a rank thirty-two Soul Breaking Spear Soul Elder. Both died during the Clear Sky Sect’s battle against Spirit Hall when Tang Feng was still a small child. The sect subsequently withdrew from the world, while his maternal grandfather Yang Wudi and the Breaking Clan were separated from it 1.
Tang Lie raised Tang Feng alongside Tang Jian, whose parents and grandfather had also died in the battle. Before awakening his Martial Soul, Tang Feng already followed a strict routine of weighted running, theoretical study, and hammer practice. His desire to return to Blue Star became intertwined with avenging his parents and restoring the sect 1.
Appearance
Tang Feng develops a tall, lean, battle-hardened physique rather than the bulky build common among his fellow Clear Sky Sect disciples 1 39 100.
- Height: Approximately 1.7 meters at ten, 1.9 meters at fourteen and a half, and nearly two meters upon his return to the sect 13 39 57.
- Build: Broad shoulders, narrow waist, and streamlined muscles shaped by weighted training and close combat 39 100.
- Face: Sharply defined contours, sword-like eyebrows, and deep black eyes; his features are described as ordinary rather than especially handsome 34 100.
- Skin: Develops a bronze, metallic-looking sheen during his wilderness training; later described as a healthy wheat color after his travels 39 179.
- Disguises and clothing: Uses a silver-and-black mask when concealing his appearance. During his two-year journey among ordinary people, he wears coarse blue robes, hemp shoes, and simply tied-back hair 28 177.
Personality
Tang Feng is intensely disciplined and willing to endure exceptional pain for strength. His childhood training leaves his hands split and his arms too exhausted to hold a bowl steadily. Even after Tang Lie reprimands him for risking his life on his first ring, he privately acknowledges that he would make the same choice again 1 6 11.
His determination is tempered by practical judgment. He researches suitable Soul Beasts, studies pharmacology and toxicology, and recognizes weaknesses in his own combat style. He also criticizes talented Soul Masters who provoke enemies before possessing the strength to survive the consequences 7 34 48.
As a leader, he combines persuasion, material assistance, and demonstrations of strength. He openly acknowledges the Clear Sky Sect’s debt to the four single-attribute clans, but refuses to excuse Tang Hao’s conduct merely to secure Tai Tan’s allegiance. He also studies Tang Xiao’s diplomacy rather than assuming combat ability alone makes him an experienced statesman 79 80 141 142.
Two years living among farmers and villagers broaden his goals beyond revenge and sect restoration. After witnessing exploitation and poverty, he argues that the Clear Sky Sect should protect the weak and oppose injustice. By the Jialing Pass campaign, reducing soldiers’ casualties is an explicit concern 177 179 186 281.
Abilities & Skills
Clear Sky Hammer
His inherited tool Martial Soul begins as a dark-gold hammer with crimson markings and a fire attribute. Ice and Fire Body Tempering adds intertwined elemental patterns; later evolution produces a divine-grade Martial Soul and an inheritable innate domain 3 24 224.
- Extreme weight: Grows from approximately five hundred jin at awakening to 360,000 jin by his battle with Bo Saixi 3 267.
- Elemental development: Incorporates ice, fire, lava, and heaven-burning demon fire through body tempering and Soul Rings 24 27 69.
- Slaughter Origin evolution: Absorbs the power beneath Slaughter City, strengthening both the hammer and its domain 107.
- Later appearance: Becomes bright gold after his eighth ring and pure gold after his ninth 234 265.
Soul Skills
| Ring | Skill | Documented Effects |
|---|---|---|
| First | King Kong’s Wrath | Increases strength by 50% and defense and speed by 10% for one hour 10. |
| Second | Dark Gold Berserk | Provides explosive amplification and 30% armor penetration. Combined with his first skill, the total strength enhancement reaches 150% 17. |
| Third | Lava Purgatory Hammer | Creates a thirty-meter-diameter lava domain. Increases his strength and defense by 100%, continuously burns enemies, and slows them by 20%. Earthfire eruptions add damage and knock targets upward; maintenance consumes 10% of his current Soul Power per minute 27. |
| Fourth | Flame Dragon Soul-Chasing Break | Boosts speed and attack power, locks onto a target for a guaranteed hit, and inflicts continued burning. Compensates for his vulnerability to faster opponents 37 70. |
| Fifth | Heaven-Burning Meteor Strike | Increases attack power by 300% and produces four ten-meter flaming hammers. Can strike four targets or bombard an area three hundred meters in radius. Its three-thousand-degree flames cause burns; ground impacts release a shock wave that stuns enemies within one hundred meters for one second. Costs 20% of his current total Soul Power 69. |
| Sixth | Devil Tiger Unleashes Might | Immediately increases attack power by 100%, removes negative conditions, and restores him to peak condition before entering a passive state 127. |
| Seventh | Clear Sky True Body | A Martial Soul Avatar with more than three times an ordinary avatar’s enhancement. Has no weakness period or cooldown and can be reused while Soul Power remains 198. |
| Eighth | Clear Sky World Annihilation | One of the two skills granted by his five-hundred-thousand-year ring; identified as its destructive counterpart to World Suppression 234. |
| Eighth | Clear Sky World Suppression | Creates a domain that increases his strength by 50%, decreases enemy strength by 20%, and prevents enemies from using Soul Skills. At his then-current reserves, 20% Soul Power sustains roughly five hundred meters of coverage for ten minutes 234. |
| Ninth | Not specified | Supplied by the Deep Sea Demonic Whale King’s 990,000-year ring; no skill name or complete effect is given in the documented passages 265 267. |
Hammer and Staff Techniques
- Disorder Splitting Wind Hammer: Stacks force through successive strikes. Tang Feng masters all eighty-one strikes and uses the technique even where ring-driven Soul Skills are sealed 24 94.
- Clear Sky Nine Absolutes: Nine methods of exerting force that strengthen his close-combat performance. He trains intensively to integrate them before hunting his fifth ring 66 70.
- Sea-Calming Staff Technique / Sea-Calming Hammer Technique: His self-created style, developed through sparring and wilderness combat. Documented forms include Break Formation and the defensive Protect Mountains and Rivers; the forms also work with his hammer 34 39.
- Great Sumeru Hammer — Ring Detonation: Detonates Soul Rings to release their power into his body. Detonating his first two rings allows his Soul Saint-level power fluctuations to approach those of a Titled Douluo 212.
- Instruction: Begins teaching the Great Sumeru Hammer to Tang Jian after their hunt in the Magma Sea 255.
Clear Sky Domain
An evolution of Divine Slaughter’s Domain, combining killing aura, ice and fire, and the Clear Sky Hammer’s will 107.
- Base amplification: Weakens opponents by 20%, raises all his attributes by 20%, and increases his strength by 50% 107.
- Clear Sky Assault: Locks onto a target and concentrates the domain’s power into a straight-line attack. Bypasses physical defenses to strike the soul, causes confusion, and suppresses enemy Soul Power. Also increases his attack power by 30% and doubles his speed while the target remains, until the battle ends 107.
- Assault cost: Initially consumes over 30% of his Soul Power per use, limiting him to three uses 107.
- Asura Hell: Materializes killing intent into attacks, including the rotating Asura Spinning Circle Killing Formation. Also increases the domain’s ice-and-fire erosion by 50% and permits Soul Power transmission to others within it 234.
- Final evolution: Reaches divine-grade domain status by his confrontation with Bo Saixi 265 267.
Gravity Domain
Obtained alongside his seventh ring, this domain supplies battlefield control suited to his heavy hammer attacks 198.
- Triples gravity within an initial radius of approximately fifty meters 198.
- Can be expanded or intensified by spending more Soul Power 198.
- Combines with Gravity Cage to improve restraint, control its range, and reduce relative consumption 198.
- Can stack with Clear Sky Domain and Clear Sky World Suppression 234.
Body and Spiritual Cultivation
- Ice-and-fire physique: Body tempering heals his pursuit injuries, strengthens his bones, and makes same-level Soul Grandmaster attacks largely ineffective without Soul Power protection 24.
- Mental resilience: Full Moon Wearing Autumn Dew expands his Sea of Consciousness. Memories of his original parents later help him resist and destroy invasive divine resentment 34 106.
- Spiritual perception: Uses mental power to monitor the forest and locate movement, reaching a documented search radius of one hundred zhang during his wilderness training 38 40.
- Dragon soul reinforcement: The Ice and Fire Dragon Kings strengthen his soul and elemental resistance; their power later assists him against the Titan Giant Ape’s vengeful will 133 197.
- Dual soul cores: During the day-long battle at Jialing Pass, keep his expenditure and recovery nearly balanced 282.
- Divine-level development: Possesses divine-level physical and spiritual power, the ultimate Law of Strength, and the Law of Devour. The latter can turn ocean power drawn by Bo Saixi into energy he absorbs 267.
Medicine, Poison, and Refinement
- Studies pharmacology and toxicology from childhood, including texts left by Yang Wudi 6.
- Helps cure Dugu Bo and Dugu Yan’s poison, developing a friendship with Dugu Bo through their shared expertise 22 27.
- Tests whale rubber on Soft Bone Rabbits before using it himself, establishing its ability to strengthen constitutions and increase Soul Ring absorption limits 29.
- Learns pill refinement from Yang Wudi during his year with the Breaking Clan 34.
Equipment / Weapons / Items
Weapons and Tools
- Ruyi Jingu Bang / Golden Cudgel: A custom three-hundred-jin staff designed from his previous-life memories. Approximately two meters long, with a dark shaft, golden end bands, and soul-guidance patterns. He favors it during wilderness training to refine technique before resorting to his Martial Soul 29 39.
- Asura Demon Sword: Recognizes him after he endures its killing intent and pulls it from the forbidden hall’s ground, initiating his Asura God Trial 268.
- Storage ring / Soul Tool: Stores weapons, Soul Bones, and supplies 39 41 68.
Soul Bones
| Soul Bone | Acquisition / Use |
|---|---|
| Flame Dragon Wings | External Soul Bone obtained with his fourth ring. Provides flight; grows from ten-thousand-year quality to beyond one hundred thousand years. The Dragon Kings’ gift grants Ice and Fire Judgment 37 46 127 133. |
| Thirty-thousand-year Mighty Demon Ape right arm bone | Awarded by Tang Xiao for his contributions to the sect. Its absorption is not documented in the supplied passages 57. |
| Hundred-thousand-year Soft Bone Rabbit left leg bone | Absorbed before his fifth ring, greatly strengthening his body and helping him reach level fifty 64. |
| Heaven-Burning Demonic Ape right leg bone | Discovered by Tang Lie after the hunt and stored by Tang Feng 68. |
| Diamond Tiger right leg bone | Associated with Tiger-Guarding Diamond Body, which lets him withstand Niu Gao’s strongest attack 70 80. |
| Head Soul Bone | Absorbed before his sixth-ring assessment; chiefly improves spiritual power rather than Soul Power rank 127. |
| Hundred-thousand-year Titan Giant Ape right arm bone | Raises hammer weight to sixty thousand jin and grants two soul bone skills, including Gravity Cage 198. |
| Deep Sea Demonic Whale King torso bone | Together with the ninth ring, helps raise him to peak level ninety-seven 266. |

Story Role / Major Arcs
Escape from Spirit Hall and the Ice and Fire Yin Yang Well
During a Soul Hunting expedition, Spirit Hall pursues Tang Feng through the forest. He diverts stronger pursuers into conflict with a Soul Beast, wounds a Soul Ancestor with Dark Gold Berserk, and enters poisonous miasma when escape becomes otherwise impossible. Dugu Bo finds him unconscious and saves him 18.
Their subsequent friendship gives Tang Feng access to the Ice and Fire Yin Yang Well. Body tempering there transforms his cultivation prospects, while his poison knowledge allows him to help Dugu Bo and Dugu Yan. He then investigates whale rubber and sends resources and word of his survival back to his family 22 24 27 29 30.
Breaking Clan and Wilderness Training
After reuniting with Yang Wudi, Tang Feng spends a year cultivating, refining pills, and sparring with Breaking Clan disciples. Shared training and whale rubber help overcome their initial distance toward him as a Clear Sky Sect member 32 34.
Following his fourth-ring hunt, he establishes a waterfall-cave base in the Star Dou Great Forest. Fighting primarily with his staff, he develops the Sea-Calming technique and sharpens his practical combat skills. His rescue of Zhu Zhuqing leads to their journey together to Suotuo City 37 39 40 41.
Restoring the Clear Sky Sect
Tang Feng returns after five years away with exceptional cultivation and resources that have already benefited the sect. As young sect master, he works to reunite the four single-attribute clans 57 78 80.
He acknowledges the sect’s responsibility for their abandonment, wins Niu Gao’s agreement through a defensive contest, and challenges Tai Tan’s idealized view of Tang Hao. By the end of the negotiations, all four clans have pledged allegiance 79 80 81 83.
Slaughter City and Martial Soul Evolution
Tang Feng and Tang Lie enter Slaughter City together, alternating arena battles and guarding one another during recovery. Their cooperation brings them to ninety-nine victories each in one year and four months, though accumulated killing intent threatens Tang Feng’s self-control 94 96 97.
They proceed onto Hell Road and defeat the Dark Gold Three-Headed Bat King. Tang Feng later confronts divine resentment, absorbs Slaughter Origin Qi, and evolves his hammer and domain. Their subsequent confrontation with the King of Slaughter reveals the trapped former sect master Tang Chen 98 106 107 108 109.
Ordinary Life and a Broader Purpose
After surviving an attack by Qian Renxue and two Titled Douluos, Tang Feng eventually steps away from relentless cultivation. He leaves the sect without a fixed destination, suppresses his powerful presence, and spends two years living and working among ordinary people 171 176 177 180.
The journey exposes him to poverty, aristocratic oppression, and the privileges sustained by Soul Power. Returning with Zhu Zhuqing, he argues that restoring the sect’s prestige is insufficient: it should also shelter vulnerable people and confront injustice 179 181 185 186.
Academy Alliance and Sea God Island
Tang Feng secures the cooperation of Shrek, Blazing Fire, Godwind, and Skywater Academies. Defeating five representatives without Soul Skills establishes his strength, while negotiations produce plans for a joint council and faculties organized by Martial Soul type and cultivation path 207 208.
He later leads his companions toward Sea God Island. His trials include a Ring Sea crossing against Xiao Bai and the demanding Tidal Body Tempering assessment. A God-Given Soul Ring supplies his five-hundred-thousand-year eighth ring, and the Deep Sea Demonic Whale King’s resources eventually raise him to peak level ninety-seven 225 234 243 265 266.
Asura Trials and Jialing Pass
Claiming the Asura Demon Sword brings formal recognition from the Asura God. His seventh trial requires completing the Sea God’s Top-Tier Eight Trials; the eighth requires him to produce offspring within two years, with Zhu Zhuqing agreeing to assist him 268.
At Jialing Pass, Tang Feng first protects the wounded Tang Lie, then orders his soldiers to remain inside the pass while he confronts the enemy’s strongest fighters. After Tang San declines his challenge, Tang Feng battles Qian Daoliu, Qian Renxue, and Bibi Dong together from morning until dusk, remaining composed as the three tire 281 282.
