Just as Qian Youjin was about to step forward again, a guard behind him said quietly,
"Young master, that woman actually called you a long-tongued man. Should we deal with her?"
Qian Youjin was somewhat displeased at being interrupted by a servant, but then heard that these were Yun Manman's words.
He raised an eyebrow. "What's a long-tongued man? Is she praising me for being handsome?"
The guard's mouth twitched. With brains like his, how could he have entered this haven of scholars if he hadn't donated a library?
He simply had no brains! Anyone with even a little sense would never ask such a question!
Another guard could not stand it anymore and said stiffly, "She was insulting you, saying you're like a long-tongued gossip!"
Qian Youjin gritted his teeth and closed his eyes for a long while. When he opened them, another shitty grin bloomed across his face.
"I thought she was an icy beauty, but she's an icy chili pepper instead! I like her far too much!"
Just as Qian Youjin was about to speak again, a clear, brisk voice carrying anger rang out behind him.
"Qian Youjin, what are you doing in our courtyard?"
Qian Youjin turned around irritably.
"Yang Muwen, you..."
"You what? Get lost! Tonight, I'll have my father investigate the Qian Family Gambling House. Hmph!"
Qian Youjin glared fiercely at Yang Muwen, his gaze sweeping reluctantly over Yun Manman before he flicked his sleeve, left a threat, and departed.
The anger on Yang Muwen's face turned to delighted surprise, and he grew rather excited.
"Sister Yun, long time no see! Did you bring Dabao here to celebrate the festival today?"
As he spoke, he picked up the stern-faced Dabao, pinched his little cheeks, and poked his sturdy little body.
Dabao's little purple eyes were full of helplessness, making Yang Muwen burst out laughing.
Yun Manman looked at Yun Sheng behind her, her eyes filled with ruthless killing intent, and gave an indifferent, merciless order.
"Pull out his tongue and throw him into a male brothel. Clean up the Qian family as soon as possible, too!"
"Yes!"
Yang Muwen's eyes flickered. He knew Sister Yun's identity. Her Nine Lotus Pavilion had helped his father handle many cases. All he could say was that Qian Youjin deserved it.
"Sister Yun, I'll bring a few extra guards along to the night market tonight, so no blind fool offends you."
A smile appeared on Yun Manman's face. Yang Muwen was Magistrate Yang's only son. Back then, his father's enemies had been pursuing him, and Yun Manman had happened to pass by and saved him.
Yang Muwen had immediately knelt and thanked her a thousand times over, then come to Red Star Village every day to repay her kindness. Seeing his simple nature, and since the magistrate was indeed a good official, Yun Manman had tacitly accepted it.
"All right. Have some fruit to moisten your throats."
Yang Muwen narrowed his eyes in bliss as he ate the fruit.
"Sister Yun, I'll show you around now. With me here, the shops will slash their prices down to the bone."
They went out, eating fruit as they chatted and laughed.
Yun Manman looked at the unusually silent Dabao and thought of that man's words.
Her eyes darkened slightly as she picked Yun Rui up.
"Yun Rui, do you want him... your daddy to come back?"
Yun Rui looked at Yun Manman in confusion. "The dead can't come back to life. He's just a basin of yellow earth. Can you restore him, Mother?"
"Yun Rui, he... he might not be dead yet. If you and Xiao'er want a daddy, I'm willing to look for him."
She knew.
That man had blue eyes. With her current strength, finding him would be easy.
Yet because she did not want anyone to disturb their present peace, she had selfishly never asked the children what they thought.
Perhaps she had been wrong, and they all wanted a father's love?
Seeing the sadness in his mother's eyes, Yun Rui stretched his neck and kissed Yun Manman's cheek, ruthlessness in his moist purple eyes.
"We aren't bastards. We have the best mother in the world. We don't want a daddy. Mother, you're everything to us. Once I master my cultivation technique, I'll personally deal with everyone who hurt you."
His mother commanded every situation with strength and confidence. The look in her eyes now made him panic and ache for her. That man must have betrayed her.
He had abandoned his mother and them, so she was unwilling to let them acknowledge each other.
Hatred surfaced in his purple eyes. Whether it was that man or trash like the one just now, everyone who hurt his mother deserved to die.
Seeing the look in Yun Rui's eyes, Yun Manman felt a faint ache in her heart, but did not stop him.
Her children were destined to be extraordinary. In the days ahead, there would be bloody storms and treacherous schemes.
She hoped they could learn early how to face these dangers.
Seeing the heartache in his mother's eyes, Yun Rui cupped Yun Manman's cheeks in his little hands, his childish voice carrying resolve.
"Mother, as for Daddy, I believe we'll meet if fate wills it. When I meet him, I'll bring him to you so you can deal with him yourself!"
Amused, Yun Manman pinched his little cheek.
"All right. I'll be waiting."
The streets outside were too crowded, so in the end, they chose a bookshop.
Yun Manman studied an unfinished game left on the second floor.
Everyone else quietly browsed books downstairs.
While reading, Yun Rui heard a sound beside him.
He looked over.
The man's blue eyes were deep and indifferent, and his face was actually exactly the same as his.
Yun Rui tilted his little head up and froze in shock.
He abruptly came back to his senses.
Seeing the man's tall, striking figure walking away, Yun Rui hurried out of the bookshop after him.
The aura coming from his tiny body was terrifyingly powerful. His purple eyes were filled with anger, yet beneath it lay unease and nervousness.
Was he really his father?
Why had he never visited his mother or them all these years?
Why did he hate them so much?
"Your Highness, someone is following us."
Mo Beiyuan's footsteps did not pause in the slightest. He had sensed someone following him as soon as he left the bookshop, and spoke in a cool, clear, indifferent voice.
"Leave them be. Deal with them cleanly once we get back."
Yun Rui even wondered if he had seen wrong. How could there be such a coincidence in the world?
His mind raced, his footsteps never stopping.
By the time Yun Rui came to his senses, he found himself at the entrance to a secluded residence.
A blast of sword qi slashed straight toward him.
Yun Rui swiftly dodged, flinging out the true qi condensed in his hand.
Qing Yi raised his sword to block it, only to be driven several steps back by the force of the true qi.
Hearing the sound from Qing Yi's sword, Mo Beiyuan turned and raised an eyebrow in surprise.
It was actually a child?
What cultivation technique was this, that it could stop Qing Yi's sword?
Qing Yi gathered his internal energy and poured it into his sword, thrusting at Yun Rui again with killing intent woven into his sword qi.
Yun Rui's eyes were filled with ruthlessness.
As long as he defeated this man, he could tie up that faithless man and take him back for his mother to deal with.
With the sword about to pierce him, Yun Rui did not dodge at all.
Looking at Yun Rui opposite him, Qing Yi's pupils instantly widened.
His hand opened at once, and the sword he had gripped fell to the ground.
Yun Rui, however, struck Qing Yi with his palm.
Qing Yi staggered back several steps, blood trickling from the corner of his mouth, yet he seemed unaware of it, his eyes still fixed in shock on Yun Rui's face.
Mo Beiyuan frowned, wondering what was wrong with Qing Yi, and caught him just as he was about to collapse.
He raised his eyes to look across at the child.
Mo Beiyuan instantly froze.
He was shaken in body and soul.
Purple eyes... it was her! The woman he had yearned for in his dreams all these years.
His voice trembled when he spoke, his eyes filled with joy and disbelief.
"You... this... you are, I..."
Yun Rui looked at the face so similar to his own, and those eyes like Erbao's, his little brows furrowing slightly.
It seemed this was indeed that faithless man!
He would beat this scumbag up first, then tie him up and take him to his mother so she could deal with him herself.
Hmph!
