As it turned out, Furina had relaxed a little too soon.
How could a lover of chaos possibly be satisfied with simply playing a video that left her sweating bullets?
Naturally, they had to follow up with a question to finish her off.
[Question: who gave Lady Furina her Vision in the video?] [A. Egeria] [B. Focalors] [C. Xingqiu] [D. Sangonomiya Kokomi] [E. Neuvillette] [F. Asmoday] [System: this question is rated high difficulty. ???
What the hell?
That was almost every viewer's first thought.
This question was truly difficult to make sense of.
If it meant that Furina would obtain a Vision in the future, the prerequisite was that Furina herself was not a god, but a human, and could therefore obtain one.
If they interpreted it as something required by the musical's plot, merely asking who "gave" Furina a Vision within the musical...
That was possible, too, but would this screen ask such a nonsensical question?
The Vision everyone had previously overlooked thanks to the tacit understanding among certain star-rated users from Fontaine in the discussion area, dismissing it as a necessary stage prop, suddenly came into everyone's focus.
What exactly happened in the future, and why would Lady Furina, the Hydro Archon, be given a Vision?
And just look at those options.
Leaving aside the two foreigners, Xingqiu and Sangonomiya Kokomi, perhaps those two really would come to Fontaine in the future and make guest appearances to help with the musical Furina performed in.
But what was going on with Egeria and Focalors?
Egeria was the name of the first Hydro Archon, wasn't it? She had perished in the war in Khaenri'ah five hundred years ago. Surely she could not be the correct answer?
Yet her name had appeared here, inevitably making people wonder whether there was more to Lady Egeria's death, and whether she had truly passed away.
If the Egeria option might involve some unknown divine secret, then the Focalors option was even more ridiculous.
Wasn't Lady Furina's own divine name Focalors?
Then why list that name separately?
Had that junior reporter from The Steambird actually hit the nail on the head, and Lady Furina had pulled a stunt where the Hydro Archon gave Furina a Vision?
As for Furina herself, she nearly failed to keep her expression under control.
She had accounted for everything, yet never expected the screen to have a question waiting here to stab her in the back.
Fuck!
Wasn't this increasing her risk of exposure?!
How was this question any different from naming her outright and saying she was human, not a god?
But wait!
Looking at the question, Furina recalled the Vision belonging to "her" that had descended from the sky in the earlier video.
As Fontaine's most famous and dedicated actress, Furina had committed every scene and every detail of the earlier video to memory. She quickly recalled the Vision's design and, like Lyney, noticed how it differed from Fontaine's current Visions.
Four extra horns, no, those should be... dragon fangs? And the options in this question... I still don't quite understand my other self's plan, but could she have sacrificed herself and ultimately pushed the position of Hydro Archon onto Neuvillette?
Although Furina looked rather silly in the original work, she was no fool.
She had spent five hundred years with Neuvillette. Although she did not know Focalors's true plan, with so many known facts now available, she could roughly deduce a few things.
Let's see whether the answer to this question really is Neuvillette. If it is, that means my reasoning is correct.
If it isn't Neuvillette, but Focalors or Lady Egeria, that means I need to think about it from another angle. But those dragon fangs... that shouldn't be possible.
Should I try to answer?
No, I can't. Anyone can answer this question except me, and I especially can't get it right.
Furina made her decision in an instant, putting that exaggerated, haughty expression back on her face.
And sure enough, that expression really worked. When the audience in the Opera Epiclese saw that familiar little look on their Hydro Archon's face, everything else aside, they immediately settled down.
Exactly, how could Lady Furina possibly be human? That was utter nonsense, as absurd as the Anemo Archon, one of the original gods, being sent flying by a kick; as the Geo Archon, who created the Mora used throughout the continent, having no money; as the stern, cold, and merciless Electro Archon actually being a shut-in who loved sweets and light novels; as the wise Dendro Archon liking to visit the toilet to relax.
Having temporarily fooled Fontaine's people and made them set aside their speculation about her true identity, just as she had often done over the past five hundred years, Furina looked toward Neuvillette with a hint of anticipation.
Neuvillette inexplicably felt that Furina's gaze had become much stranger. It puzzled him, and he had no idea what she was up to this time.
His rather unusual nature meant that, unlike the others, he was not so intensely focused on this screen, or so interested in futures and secrets. Just now, most of his attention had actually been on the trial taking place below. Unlike Furina or Lyney, he had not noticed details in the video such as the dragon fangs surrounding the Vision.
Once someone answered this question, however, he would probably realize exactly what Furina's current gaze meant.
[Xingqiu: why am I appearing in a situation like this?] [Sangonomiya Kokomi: a path I never imagined.] [Gorou: Her Excellency Sangonomiya is the pillar of Watatsumi Island. How could she possibly go to Fontaine to perform in a musical?] [Sangonomiya Kokomi: but if the Traveler came to Inazuma first and ended the war between Watatsumi Island and the Shogunate, I really might travel abroad for a holiday.] [Venti: uh, wait, am I seeing things?] [Venti: wow, this really is...] [Lumine: hmm? Who did you see?] [Venti: Traveler, do you remember that unfamiliar white-haired god near Celestia who separated you from your brother?] [Lumine: huh? Huh?! Don't tell me she's one of these options? Which one?] [Venti: holy crap, nothing actually happened when I said it here. Nice!] [Lumine: ???] [Venti: Traveler, you should know that although I call myself the freest and finest bard in Teyvat, there are some things that would get me punished the instant I said them, never mind turning them into songs.] [Lumine: that's a thing?!] [Lumine: wait, don't tell me that on my original journey, all of you among the Seven who knew the answers to my questions just brushed me off?] [Venti: the old man next door and I should both know. I'm not so sure about the others.] [Venti: but I never thought I'd see that name here. Nobody stop me. I've kept it bottled up for ages, and I'm going to say it to my heart's content!] [Venti: Asmoday, Asmoday, Asmoday...]
Well, at least Lumine had figured out the name of the unfamiliar white-haired god who had stopped her and her brother back then and inexplicably given them a thorough beating.
Lumine was no fool herself. After cramming basic knowledge and general facts about Teyvat over the past few days, she had more or less guessed that none of the Seven was that white-haired god from back then.
After all, surely no earthly ruler would have had nothing better to do than rush straight to Celestia to intercept people immediately after fighting a brutal war in Khaenri'ah.
Besides, not that she was boasting, but she and her brother were quite formidable together. If the one who had stopped the siblings back then really had been an Archon who had just experienced a war capable of killing gods, that Archon could never have stopped them.
Although she did not know who that white-haired god was, the god had still been in excellent condition when they met-well, at least she had looked that way-and had overwhelmingly outmatched the siblings. That essentially ruled out the Seven.
Still, even knowing this, the journey had to continue. After all, the statues in each nation unlocked a portion of the sealed power within her, leaving Lumine no choice but to visit every country.
Since she had to visit every country anyway, she might as well try her luck. Visiting the Seven and asking a few questions along the way would be no trouble.
She just had not expected to learn the white-haired god's name before even leaving her first nation, Mondstadt, for the next, Liyue, through this strange screen and the Anemo Archon beside her, whose face was flushed with excitement, as though he had been repressing himself for countless years.
Judging by what Venti had just said in the discussion area, he really seemed to have held back for thousands of years without daring to speak of Celestia's secrets.
Now that he had suddenly found somewhere he could vent freely, somewhere Celestia clearly could do nothing even after he vented, Venti naturally had to let it out.
[Venti: whew, that felt good.] [Lumine: it's just a name. Was that really necessary?] [Venti: in the past, I'd get a beating just for casually mentioning her name.] [Lumine: huh, is Celestia that unreasonable?] [Apep: yes.] [Pyro Dragon Sovereign: yes.] [Neuvillette: yes.] [Azhdaha: yes.] [Zhongli: ...] [Cloud Retainer: Dragon King? Have you regained your senses?] [Azhdaha: I'm perfectly lucid.] [Azhdaha: Morax, fuck your ancestors!] [A Ping: it seems he hasn't quite regained his senses yet.] [Mountain Shaper: I wonder whether this screen might offer a reward that could help the Dragon King.] [Moon Carver: whatever the case, we must try.] [Lumine: I feel like... that question of mine brought out quite a few big shots.] [Venti: ahem, in short, I do know my limits. It's just a name. I won't reveal any genuinely deadly secrets, even here.] [Venti: but you can rule out Asmoday. In any case, it shouldn't fall to her to give Furina a Vision.]
If Asmoday were awake and noticed Fontaine's current situation, they would be lucky if she did not lash out in fury and personally deal with Furina. How could they expect her to give Furina a Vision?
Wait?
Considering a Vision's other function, it was not impossible that she might give Furina one... no, that was not right either. She did not have that authority, did she?
Thinking of what happened to Vision bearers after death, Venti became a little uncertain.
But this was an option personally ruled out by none other than the God of Anemo, one of the Seven and one of the original gods, a deity who could hear every word scattered upon the wind and knew all the world's secrets. Naturally, everyone believed him.
Because of what the video had revealed, the Fontaine locals had noticed the most suspicious details and were in little mood to talk in the discussion area. Instead, the star-rated users outside Fontaine either had not thought so deeply about it or had simply noticed but kept quiet. They analyzed it purely from the perspectives of the musical and the question, and the discussion grew quite lively.
[Yun Jin: if this is simply a musical, then based on my experience, neither Mr. Xingqiu nor Miss Kokomi can be ruled out.] [Nilou: that's true. With all the backstage staff working so hard around the stage, who knows which one it might be?] [Kaeya: if it isn't a musical, hmm, could those two actually be ruled out?] [Yae Miko: oh my, I don't know much about Xingqiu, but Sangonomiya Kokomi, hehe, she's the Divine Priestess of Watatsumi Island, and Orobashi's successor in a certain sense.] [Yae Miko: she's a great figure, far beyond comparison with a humble little Guuji like me, blessed with both beauty and wisdom~.] [Yae Miko: theoretically speaking, if the Hydro Archon's seat were vacant, Orobashi would have some right to lay claim to it.] [Collei: Orobashi? Sorry, I-I'm not very knowledgeable. Is that someone famous?] [Faruzan: hmm, this isn't my field of research either, but I remember reading about it before. Wasn't that a god slain over in Inazuma?] [Collei: huh? A god's successor?] [Sangonomiya Kokomi: everyone should exercise caution when accepting Guuji Yae's words.] [Sangonomiya Kokomi: because by that logic, Lady Guuji Yae could also be considered the Raiden Shogun's successor.] [Yae Miko: exactly, so could Ei let me be Shogun for a couple of days?] [Ei: ...] [Ningguang: in that case, this discussion is utterly meaningless. So far, we can only eliminate the single option that Lord Anemo Archon ruled out for us: Asmoday.]
Indeed, after all that discussion, everyone had come to realize it.
This video was completely different from the previous videos, which had either shown actual footage or presented someone's verbal account.
Its presentation as a musical meant that they could not simply believe everything in the video wholesale. They had to accept it selectively.
And it was precisely this presentation as an artistic work, a musical, that made every option difficult to eliminate.
Once they realized this, the clever people in the discussion area simply fell silent.
They knew it was time for another group of "kind souls" to lend a hand.
