|---|---|---|
| Anemo power obtained | 4 | Obtained Anemo power from the Anemo Archon’s statue shortly before the Travail video. Later narration explains that each nation’s statues unlock part of her sealed power; no further elemental acquisition is documented in the provided chapters 47. |
Background / History
Lumine traveled through the sea of stars with her brother Aether and had visited many worlds before arriving in Teyvat. An unfamiliar white-haired god intercepted and overwhelmingly defeated the twins, separating them. Lumine subsequently awakened with significant gaps in her memory and unfamiliar white flowers already attached to her hair 1 4 47.
Finding Aether initially takes priority over experiencing Teyvat for its own sake. Lumine seeks audiences with the Seven both to investigate their separation and to uncover what happened to them. Even after concluding that the god who attacked them was probably not one of the Seven, she still needs to visit each nation to recover her sealed power through its statues 30 38 47.
Appearance
- Golden hair: She and Aether appear as golden-haired twins in the Travail footage 4.
- White flowers in her hair: Present since her awakening. She does not remember their origin or share the particular affection for them implied by the video’s narration, and suspects Aether placed them there 4 6.
Personality
Lumine is playful, irreverent, and often deliberately provocative. She teases Aether publicly, jokingly claims Nilou as her “new wife,” and openly comments on the Electro Archon’s attractiveness despite witnessing the danger she poses. Her teasing of Aether also serves a practical purpose: repeatedly baiting him eventually makes him reveal his presence in the discussion area 3 8 38.
Her humor coexists with genuine loyalty. She enters Mondstadt partly because Amber has treated her kindly, volunteers to help rescue Dvalin, and delays her search rather than abandon friends who need her. She also offers her food reward to help Kazuha’s injured friend 6 15 29 30.
She is cautious about risks she cannot assess. Fear of quiz punishments initially keeps her from answering, and she avoids openly discussing dangerous information connected to the Sustainer of Heavenly Principles. Her confidence in being a protagonist does not entirely erase her concern about confronting gods 7 8 30 38.
Abilities & Skills
Elemental Power and Restoration
Lumine can use elemental power without a Vision, making her an exception to Teyvat’s usual rules 23.
- Obtains Anemo power through an Archon statue 4.
- Recovers portions of her sealed power through the statues in each nation 47.
- Her Visionless elemental use is identified as a reason the Raiden Shogun would oppose her in the original course of events 23.
Corruption Purification
Lumine can purify the corruption in Dvalin’s tears, providing a means to address the poisonous influence affecting him 15.
- Changes an ominous red crystal into a blue-green, teardrop-shaped crystal filled with pure Anemo energy 15.
- Senses what seems to be power entering her body during purification; no quantified increase is established 15.
- Becomes central to the rescue preparations as the Knights gather additional tears for her to purify 30.
Teleport Waypoint Use
Lumine can use the ancient devices scattered across Teyvat as Teleport Waypoints 29.
- Raises teleportation as an alternative to lengthy overland travel 29.
- Attracts Albedo’s research interest; he asks whether her ability is connected to her otherworldly origin, but no explanation is confirmed 29.
Game and Story Analysis
Her experience with games, novels, and other worlds helps her interpret the screen’s otherwise unfamiliar material 1 6.
- Protagonist selection: Proposes that Aether is the game’s selected protagonist while she occupies the corresponding role in reality 6.
- Quiz deduction: Correctly chooses the third Noctilucous Jade sample by reasoning that games often demonstrate several options before presenting the best one last. She explicitly acknowledges that this is a probability-based guess 29 31.
- Item interpretation: Infers that the game uses food for revival and healing after seeing the Teyvat Fried Egg reward 10.
- Character assessment: Suspects Zhongli is the Geo Archon by considering his connections, importance to Liyue, and Venti’s unusual reactions 23 26 30.
- Limits: Her interpretations are deductions rather than foreknowledge. She distinguishes uncertain theories from conclusions and accounts for the possibility of unexpected writing choices 7 31 42.
Information Gathering
Lumine records potentially useful details from the discussion area in a notebook 20.
- Notes revelations about the Electro Gnosis, Diona’s blessing, and Venti’s possible allergy 20.
- Treats apparently casual comments from important figures as possible clues to future events or side quests 20.
- Recognizes that revealing information can itself be dangerous, particularly when Celestia or the twins’ circumstances are involved 30 38.
Equipment / Items
- Notebook and pen — Used to preserve information revealed through the screen’s discussions 20.
- Backpack — Holds the corrupted crystal she later purifies in front of Venti and the Knights 15.
- Purified Dvalin’s tear — A blue-green crystal containing exceptionally pure Anemo energy after her intervention 15.
- Unlimited Sweet Madame supply — A quiz reward lasting one year, won by correctly selecting option C in the Noctilucous Jade question. The food can be shared; she offers it to Kazuha for his friend and invites Mona to eat with her 29 30.
Relationships
- Aether — Older twin brother and the original focus of her journey. She eventually provokes him into speaking through the screen, confirming his safety. Unknown to her, he leads the Abyss Order and insists that their reunion must wait until she completes her own journey 4 38.
- Paimon — Traveling companion and frequent partner in banter. Lumine affectionately scolds her appetite, greed, and habit of using the discussion area even while standing beside her 7 10 29 34.
- Amber — Her first friend in Mondstadt and an important reason she chooses to help the city. Amber welcomes her, pays for a meal, and promises to assist in finding Aether 1 6 14 15.
- Jean — Ally in the Dvalin rescue effort. Jean promises protection from Fatui pressure, though Lumine’s later fishing excursion with Klee leaves her exasperated 14 40.
- Venti — Collaborator in rescuing Dvalin and a source of information about Teyvat’s gods. Lumine sees through his claim of diminished power; he later identifies Asmoday for her 15 18 47.
- Kazuha — Offers him healing food for his revived friend. He declines to draw her into Inazuma’s dangers and advises her against entering during its lockdown 29 30.
- Nahida — Responds warmly to Lumine’s enthusiastic friendliness. Footage suggesting a close future relationship reinforces Nahida’s favorable impression of her 40.
- Klee — Goes fishing with Lumine outside the city while Jean believes the Traveler is watching videos at Diluc’s tavern 40.
- Asmoday — The white-haired god responsible for separating the twins. Lumine learns her name from Venti before leaving Mondstadt 47.
Story Role / Major Arcs
The Screen’s Arrival
Lumine has just met Amber when the mysterious screen appears. Initially reluctant to draw the unknown god’s attention, she posts after Paimon suggests that Aether might also be watching 1.
The Travail video reveals the twins and presents Aether as the figure expected to complete the journey. Lumine interprets this through a possible character-selection system: the game follows her brother, while reality follows her. The revelation also makes her wary of the crises apparently awaiting her in every nation 4 6.
Mondstadt’s Altered Opening
The screen changes events before Lumine can follow the original story. Dvalin retreats to Stormterror’s Lair to reflect instead of attacking Mondstadt, so she neither repels him over the city nor earns the Honorary Knight title at this point. The Knights invite her to their meeting because the screen has identified her as the likely protagonist 14.
At Angel’s Share, she interprets Dvalin as Mondstadt’s immediate crisis and the Fatui as a recurring enemy faction. Her successful purification of a tear then establishes a concrete role in Dvalin’s rescue. She resolves to finish helping her new friends before departing for Liyue’s approaching Rite of Descension 14 15 30.
First Quiz Victory
After initially avoiding the quizzes because of their punishments, Lumine answers the Noctilucous Jade question. She hopes a personalized reward might help her find Aether, but instead receives a year’s unlimited supply of Sweet Madame 7 29.
Her explanation of the winning guess gives other participants a practical lesson in approaching the screen’s questions from a gaming perspective 31.
Confirmation of Aether’s Safety
During an Inazuma video discussion, Lumine’s provocations finally draw a response from Aether. He immediately returns to silence, but the brief exchange is enough to reassure her that he is alive 38.
She concludes that he has an obligation he cannot explain and would avoid her even if she found him directly. With her greatest immediate fear relieved, she becomes willing to take more time over her own journey 38.
Asmoday’s Name and Fontaine’s Prophecy
When Asmoday appears among a quiz’s answer options, Venti identifies her as the god who attacked the twins. Lumine thus gains a major lead before even leaving Mondstadt, although Venti still refuses to disclose genuinely deadly secrets 47.
Later, she interprets Fontaine’s prophecy as the likely basis of its national storyline. Her warning that it will probably come true—followed by the protagonist and locals working together to resolve the crisis—causes an uproar among Fontaine’s viewers 49.
