"She has all the emotions and desires of a human. She can be arrogant when the occasion calls for it, and afraid when the occasion calls for it..."
"She possesses all the virtues that only humans have, and likewise, she also possesses the flaws that only humans have."
"But it is precisely because of these things that Furina is the most perfect human, the human of my ideals!"
"After she was created, I cursed her in order to successfully deceive the Heavenly Principles!"
After hearing Focalors's words, Neuvillette remained silent for a long time. Even he found it somewhat difficult to take in.
Focalors continued, "The final scene in the prophecy shows the lonely Hydro Archon weeping upon her lofty throne."
"Under my curse, as long as I have not disappeared, Furina's lifespan will be infinite. But the price is... she will never enjoy the happiness of a true human!"
"To deceive the Heavenly Principles with this fulfillment of the prophecy, she will endlessly play the role of the Hydro Archon as the leading lady in this opera house."
"Having heard this much, I imagine you understand where the name Opera Epiclese came from!"
At this, Neuvillette suddenly thought of something, and his expression shifted slightly. "...But no matter how you put it, Furina is ultimately just an ordinary human, isn't she?"
"Even if she accepted your curse and gained an endless life, her mental fortitude is still only that of an ordinary human..."
"Such a long life... will only be torment for her!"
"Yes." Focalors was not entirely unaware of the outside world while she was here, so she could clearly sense the changes in Furina's emotions.
From her initial confusion and bewilderment upon becoming a god, to the novelty and enthusiasm that followed, and then to her current despair, loneliness, and helplessness, she knew it all. Now, hearing Neuvillette's words-
"Although Furina is myself, and it seems rather strange to say this, I still think I need to apologize to her! If we can meet again."
"These past several centuries..."
"For Furina, it has been like performing a one-woman show onstage, with only herself in the audience. That is unbearable!"
[Venti: Brilliant, absolutely brilliant. You even dare to deceive the Heavenly Principles?]
[Zhongli: Even gods fear Erosion, yet Furina, a mortal, had to endure five hundred years of Erosion alone.]
[Noelle: Five hundred years. Just hearing it is suffocating.]
[Hu Tao: Aaaah, I hope Focalors doesn't die, and Furina doesn't keep feeling so down anymore.]
[Arataki Itto: My eyes hurt so much!]
[Ningguang: What deserves even more admiration is that Furina actually had no idea when this task would end. She kept playing a god without an end in sight, enduring endless loneliness!]
[Amber: Hearing that makes me want to cry even more!]
[Keqing: For Furina to accomplish all this as a mortal, she is already no different from a god.]
[Navia: So we all misunderstood Lady Furina. She actually...]
[Lyney: We always thought Lady Furina neglected her duties and only cared about watching operas.]
[Klee: Don't be sad, Furina. Klee will give you a hug. If you're still unhappy, Klee will give you all her Jumpy Dumpties.]
In the video.
The scene changed.
Lumine looked at Furina sitting alone on the stage, then took a look around her surroundings.
She was inwardly surprised. Could this be Furina's inner world?
But Lumine did not dwell on it. She had come here to find answers in the first place. She walked toward the stage and stood before Furina.
Furina said warily, "What are you doing here? As Focalors, the God of Hydro, I understand your fervor, but please obey the rules."
Lumine said, "It's me!"
Furina's expression did not change at all. "All right, I won't punish you, and I don't want to know your name. Leave this place at once!"
Seeing that Lumine was still standing there, Furina said inwardly, Stop staring at me...
"I am the god Focalors. All of Fontaine has its eyes on me. I cannot lose my composure!" (The spotlights are so blinding. If they all disappeared, I could go back to being myself...)
Lumine looked around, then at Furina, and an idea flashed through her mind.
She hurried around and switched off all the spotlights.
The next second, a ticket appeared on the floor out of thin air. Lumine picked it up in confusion, then understood at once.
She found a seat and stared intently at the stage. (Come on, Furina. Let me see just what you're hiding!)
The scene shifted again, and Furina's inner world began to unfold before her eyes...
"Furina, Furina..."
A pleasant but utterly unfamiliar voice rang out in the room where Furina was.
"Who's there?" Furina looked around. There was no one here but herself.
"Relax. I'm right in front of you!"
Hearing this, Furina looked ahead.
In the mirror before her appeared someone who, apart from her clothing, looked exactly like her.
"Who... are you? Are you... me in the mirror?"
"Since that's what you've called me, then I'm you in the mirror!" the person in the mirror said with a smile.
Furina asked, "Then what do you want with me?"
The person in the mirror slowly began to explain why she had come, telling Furina about the prophecy. Toward the end, she hesitated before continuing, "I've already thought of a way to solve the problem. It's just... you may have to suffer a little."
After hearing her out, Furina instead let out a long breath and said unconcernedly, "That's nothing. If this were a set of scales, with me on one side and the people of Fontaine on the other, there's no need to even think about which way it would tip!"
The person in the mirror smiled faintly. "As I thought... you are the most perfect human. Now, I need you to play a god!"
Furina was somewhat shocked, seemingly never having imagined that such a task would fall to her...
The person in the mirror saw Furina's confusion and continued, "You must keep acting, on and on, and I will have a way to break the prophecy. Playing a god is actually very simple. Remember, your focus should not be on [divinity], but on discerning [humanity].
It was unclear whether Furina understood, but she still said that she would certainly keep going...
