Background

Navia is the daughter of Callas and leads the Spina di Rosula after his death. Her commitment to Poisson is tied both to its residents and to her father’s last wish. During the trial she experiences after falling into the Primordial Sea, residents credit her leadership with helping Poisson and the organization flourish 12 13.

Melus and Silver are her longtime attendants and important members of her household. Callas received a funeral and has a grave that Navia visits; the absence of recoverable remains for Melus and Silver makes their apparent deaths especially painful for her 7 8.

Appearance

  • Golden hair — described when she clutches her head during the ordeal in the Primordial Sea 13.

Personality

Navia puts her responsibilities ahead of her grief. After Poisson floods, she maintains her composure to avoid frightening the residents and continues making sound decisions despite exhaustion. She only breaks down after reaching her father’s grave with Lumine and Paimon 6 7.

Her confidence is shaken by losing Melus and Silver. Previously convinced that determination could let her accomplish anything, she comes to recognize how much she depended on their help. Although she initially blames herself for approving their rescue plan, she accepts her companions’ support and chooses to keep working rather than remain immobilized by grief 7 8 9.

She is sociable and playful without being naïve. She enthusiastically takes charge of the meeting about capturing Furina, trades teasing remarks with Clorinde, and admits when she has borrowed Clorinde’s wording. With Arlecchino, she is more guarded: she tests the possibility of cooperation before trusting the Fatui’s assistance 9 21.

Abilities & Skills

Leadership and Disaster Response

Navia directs the Spina di Rosula’s response to the Poisson flood while under considerable personal strain 6 7.

  • Arranges assistance for an injured resident after receiving a subordinate’s report 7.
  • Inspects affected areas and issues instructions herself 7.
  • Identifies the need to evacuate because the floodwater contains Primordial Sea elements 7.
  • Provides Lumine and Paimon with the list of victims 8.

Negotiation and Cooperation

Navia balances caution toward unfamiliar allies with a willingness to accept practical help 9.

  • Coordinates with Arlecchino over evacuation and supplies.
  • Checks reports from her own subordinates about the Fatui’s conduct.
  • Acknowledges the assistance openly and promises to return the kindness 9.

Trapping and Operational Planning

Navia contributes experience and personnel to the plan to bring Furina to court 21 22 32.

  • Suggests mechanical animals as convincing lures, recalling that she used them to attract animals during woodland outings 22.
  • Assigns subordinates to pose as ordinary citizens and pressure Furina at the opera house 32.
  • Helps anticipate that Furina will flee alone to Poisson 32.

Primordial Sea Vulnerability

As a Fontainian, Navia can dissolve upon contact with Primordial Sea Water. Her survival in the ruins is attributed to outside intervention, not an immunity of her own 10 15 42.

  • Recognizes that the water in the ruins is concentrated enough to threaten a Fontainian immediately 10.
  • Is briefly held above the water by two Oceanids, giving Neuvillette time to rescue her before her consciousness fades 15.

Story Role / Major Arcs

Watching Poisson’s Future

Navia appears both as a present-day chat participant and as a character in the future events shown on the screen. When the broadcast first identifies Poisson as the site of a coming disaster, she resolves to prepare early. Seeing the ruined town nevertheless leaves her struggling to accept the footage 5 6.

The broadcast also lets her recognize details unavailable to her future self. After hearing the victims’ list, she writes down every name and later confirms that people appearing around the unconscious Navia were among those reported dead 11.

Flood Relief and the Loss of Her Attendants

In the screened future, Lumine and Paimon find Navia physically unharmed but exhausted from directing relief efforts. She explains that the flood caused casualties despite the Spina di Rosula’s rapid response, and that evacuation remains necessary even after the water stops rising 6 7.

Once reinforcements arrive, she asks them to accompany her to Callas’s grave. There, she reveals that Melus and Silver were swept away after staying behind to help residents. She blames her approval of the rescue plan, while Lumine and Paimon insist that their actions made them heroes rather than a price exchanged for other lives 7 8.

Arlecchino’s people complete the evacuation and provide supplies, relieving pressure on the Spina di Rosula. Navia thanks her, accepts her condolences, and asks to accompany Lumine and Paimon to nearby prophecy-related ruins, partly to keep herself occupied 9.

The Ruins and the False Trial

Navia initially agrees to withdraw when the group discovers concentrated Primordial Sea Water. However, the entrance has vanished, and remaining alone could expose her to rising water. She continues with Lumine and Paimon until a collapsing stone bridge sends her into the sea despite Lumine’s attempt to catch her 10.

While unconscious, she encounters Melus, Silver, and deceased Poisson residents in a distorted setting. At an opera-house trial without Neuvillette, the crowd praises her helpfulness but demands that she remain with them forever. Melus and Silver reject this demand, defending her freedom and insisting that she is a person rather than a tool for others 11 12 13.

Navia eventually remembers that the people around her are dead. As they transform into Oceanids and close in, Neuvillette intervenes and ends the trial. She leaves after a final farewell to her attendants, then awakens to learn that two Oceanids briefly supported her body in the water. She understands that Melus and Silver saved her again 13 14 15.

Investigating the Prophecy

After recovering, Navia continues exploring with Neuvillette, Lumine, and Paimon. She examines the stone-tablet imagery and agrees with Lumine that the apparent sequence is inconsistent. Once outside, she promptly returns to the Spina di Rosula, explaining that its boss needs to be present during the crisis 16 17.

Her experience later becomes evidence for understanding Fontaine’s origins and the prophecy. Neuvillette connects her forced trial to the third tablet’s true meaning: the Hydro Archon being judged by Fontaine’s people 41 42.

Bringing Furina to Court

Navia hosts the planning meeting near Poisson and introduces the problem of capturing the Hydro Archon. During the resulting trial, she reveals that her subordinates helped provoke the crowd that drove Furina toward the prepared trap 21 32.

She also challenges Furina to touch Primordial Sea Water from Poisson. Neuvillette reprimands her for speaking without permission, and Navia apologizes. Although the planners expected Furina to evade the test, she actually puts her hand into the basin 36 37.

Navia then explains that the water was diluted to prevent dissolution, with Sigewinne’s examination supporting the test. She stresses that, after the recent losses, none of them wanted to see another person dissolve 38.

The Truth Behind Fontaine’s Crisis

Navia is shaken by the confirmation that Fontainians originated as Oceanids. She also recognizes the irony that the trial intended to prevent the prophecy is itself fulfilling one of its foretold events 42 43.

When Neuvillette explains the whale’s attraction to the Primordial Sea Water inside Fontainians, she immediately asks whether it will return after recovering. She remains among those unwilling to give up 44.

After the broadcast reveals Focalors’s sacrifice and Furina’s role, the present-day Navia agrees that Fontaine’s people were fortunate to have them 50.
