Background / History
Arrival in Mondstadt and the Livestream
Lumine receives Anemo power shortly before a mysterious broadcast announces that she and Paimon have joined its livestream. Its first video, “Masquerade of the Guilty,” shows the pair leaving Fontaine’s Fortress of Meropide, although they are still near Mondstadt. Neither Wriothesley nor Neuvillette remembers meeting them, establishing that the broadcast depicts events they have not yet experienced 2 3.
Watching Navia mourn Silver and Melus strengthens Lumine’s determination to find her brother. She leaves the statue for Mondstadt; because she is occupied with the video, she does not interrupt Venti’s treatment of Dvalin in the Whispering Woods 8.
At the Knights of Favonius headquarters, Lumine uses the livestream chat to ask people across Teyvat to look for a boy resembling her. Amber reports that notices have already been posted throughout Mondstadt, while the Spina di Rosula, Wangsheng Funeral Parlor, Arataki Gang, and Kamisato Clan offer assistance. Lumine later explicitly reminds viewers that the Fontaine footage shows her future and that she has not yet visited Sumeru 16 23.
Personality
Lumine responds to grief with practical compassion. She encourages Navia to cry rather than maintain her composure and agrees to let her join the ruins expedition after considering that activity and companionship might help her cope. Even under the threat of Fontaine’s prophecy, Lumine resolves to keep helping those who are struggling 7 9 23.
She combines directness with a willingness to use deception when she considers it necessary. She helps arrange Furina’s forced trial but makes a final attempt to obtain her confidence beforehand. When that nearly succeeds, Lumine regrets that the plan still proceeds to a public confrontation 20 29 30 32.
Her exchanges with Paimon are frequently teasing: she jokes about Paimon’s appetite, awkward conversation, and susceptibility to food. She also asks Charlotte for a share of the earnings from an article about their adventures. Beneath that playfulness, she values the journey itself, saying she would continue exploring even if Teyvat were about to end 15 25 26.

Story Role / Major Arcs
The Broadcast Future: Fontaine’s Prophecy
- Investigating the crisis: After leaving the Fortress of Meropide, Lumine tells Neuvillette about a dream involving Childe and a whale. He links its water to the Primordial Sea and reports that Poisson suffered the worst damage from the latest flood 4 5.
- Supporting Navia: Lumine accompanies Navia to her father’s grave after the disaster, then accepts Arlecchino’s request to investigate nearby ruins with Paimon and Navia 7 9.
- Finding the tablets: Joined by Neuvillette, the group discovers three surviving tablets and the damaged space where a fourth once stood. Their images depict Fontaine’s foretold destruction 16.
- Seeking another possibility: Witch N confirms that the prophecy will come true but suggests that gods have blind spots. Mona helps Lumine and Paimon understand this as a reason to continue acting rather than surrender 22 23.
The Broadcast Future: Furina’s Trial
- Planning the confrontation: When Furina refuses to explain her secret, Lumine proposes placing her in a situation she cannot avoid. Neuvillette suggests a trial, and Lumine gathers allies for the operation 20 21.
- The last private appeal: Lumine sees through Furina’s cheerful act in Poisson and urges her to confide. Furina considers whether an outsider to Teyvat could stand outside the foretold “script,” but the hiding room opens into the opera house before she reveals her secret 28 29 30.
- Acting as accuser: Lumine charges that Furina is not a god, challenges her explanations, and questions her ability to wield Hydro. Furina’s subsequent exposure to Primordial Sea Water prompts Lumine to wonder why she would risk her life to preserve that identity 32 33 34 35 36 38.
- Reconstructing Fontaine’s origins: Using the recovered first tablet and Charlotte’s report, Lumine connects the prophecy to the revelation that Fontainians originated as transformed Oceanids. Neuvillette clarifies both their creation and the third tablet’s depiction of judgment 40 41 42.
The Broadcast Future: Furina’s Inner World
- Reconsidering the missing secret: After the whale appears, Lumine recalls Witch N’s warning and realizes that Furina’s unfinished confession may be crucial 44.
- Entering the inner world: Lumine rushes toward Furina as the Oratrice prepares to execute its sentence. A tear lands on her hand, her vision darkens, and she subsequently finds herself in Furina’s inner world 45 46.
- Witnessing the performance: By switching off the stage’s spotlights and accepting an appearing ticket, Lumine begins watching memories of Furina accepting the role of Hydro Archon to save Fontaine 46.
- An unanswered offer: Lumine again offers to listen, but Furina refuses to expose the plan even there. Lumine is shocked by the strength of her resolve and psychological defenses 48 49.
