Background / History
Childhood and Admission
When Jiang Lin awakened Spirit Eyes, his enlarged eyes and unusual pupil color frightened the people of his village. For a month, villagers avoided him, leaving him uncertain whether something was wrong with his body. Dean Feng eventually recognized his eyes as a rare Body Martial Soul and invited him to leave with him 203.
His admission to Godwind Academy also required intervention. Junior-academy teachers initially rejected him because they could not recognize the Wind Attribute required for entry. Feng Qingxuan personally examined Spirit Eyes and confirmed that, although faint, the attribute was present 47.
Becoming the Team’s Eyes
Jiang Lin initially kept to himself at the academy, sitting in a corner during lessons and withdrawing quietly after completing exercises. His unobtrusive but solid cross-country performance drew Feng Lingtian’s attention 16.
During an outdoor exercise, he guided his group around hidden senior students, then detected attackers disguised in academy-like clothing. His shared vision exposed their positions and Soul Power flow. After Instructor Qin intervened, Feng Lingtian told him that he could become the team’s strongest trump card 16.
On the subsequent Soul Hunting expedition, Jiang Lin obtained his second ring and demonstrated his value without needing to attack directly. In Poison Miasma Valley, Spirit Mapping let his companions anticipate the python’s movements and changes in Soul Power throughout the battle 19 22.
Nameless and Tournament Competition
Feng Xiaotian assigned Jiang Lin a special role in the thirteen-member tournament squad. As their arena experience grew, Jiang Lin and Cheng Luo began analyzing opponents and proposing lineups, with Feng Xiaotian settling disagreements 23 61.
Jiang Lin also recognized that spectators could uncover their identities by comparing academy affiliations, power levels, and Martial Soul characteristics. The team subsequently returned to arena competition under concealed identities as Nameless, with Jiang Lin using the codename “Eye” 54 57.
Against Shrek, his Observation revealed the paths of Tang San’s Blue Silver Grass attacks. In their later academy match, Tang San identified Jiang Lin as Godwind’s control core, but attacks aimed at him and Bai Yu were repeatedly anticipated and repelled. Jiang Lin also participated in Godwind’s coordinated victory over Shrek in the grand finals 110 130 157.
Investigating the Evil Soul Master Stronghold
Jiang Lin helped reconstruct the deaths of three mercenaries and noticed the unusually coordinated sentry network surrounding a supposed bandit camp. Inside the stronghold, he identified that the green-glowing enemy controlled chains through projected Soul Power rather than a Soul Skill 114 117.
The enemy threatened to remove his eyes and later targeted him with a beam, which Feng Lingtian saved him from by tackling him aside. Jiang Lin continued tracking the enemy during the cavern’s collapse, helping prevent his escape 117 123.
Afterward, Jiang Lin found a numbered identification tag and a hidden compartment containing accounts and experimental records. The documents recorded at least three hundred living people used as experimental materials over three years, revealing an operation larger than the single hideout 125.
Journey with Bai Lingyu
Jiang Lin and Bai Lingyu later traveled south without a fixed route, entering remote settlements and carrying academy awakening equipment. Jiang Lin awakened A Shan’s mutated scaled hand and accepted him as a disciple, reassuring him through his own experience of being treated as a monster 202 203.
They subsequently took in Yi Chen, Xiao Man, and Lin Du, whose unusual Martial Souls had been misunderstood, neglected, or poorly supported. Jiang Lin taught them to recognize their abilities rather than fear them, while Bai Lingyu helped with testing, records, and travel 205 206 208 209 210 211.
Establishing a Home and Training System
The pair decided that the children needed a permanent home. Jiang Lin returned toward Heaven Dou with the land deed he had kept, sought Dean Feng’s assistance, and settled the group on his fief. The prepared site included five houses and a training ground; Jiang Lin registered the property and ordered additional child-sized equipment and furniture 212 237 238.
He also sheltered Xiao Qi, whose uncontrolled arm Martial Soul could absorb other people’s errant Soul Power at the cost of painful backlash. Rather than forcing trust, Jiang Lin provided food, medicine, and a place to sleep while allowing Xiao Qi to approach at an individual pace 237 238 240.
His initially cautious training changed after Bai Lingyu challenged him to let the children test their limits. Jiang Lin explained the risks to all five children and obtained their agreement before introducing training supported by Xiao Qi’s absorption ability. He continued measuring both the disciples’ progress and Xiao Qi’s backlash 241 242.
By the time Feng Lingtian visited, Jiang Lin was planning a Body Martial Soul clan but had not yet turned his observations into a complete system. Using Feng Lingtian’s Soul Power pathway diagrams, he introduced Martial Soul “anchor points”; the four boys’ losses of control fell to half their usual frequency during the first day of practice 243.
Appearance
- Eyes: Light-brown pupils; he recalls that his eyes became larger than ordinary people’s after awakening 16 203.
- Early activation: Spirit Eyes produces a pale-golden sheen, which becomes deeper and more substantial as he gains rings and levels 19 40 48.
- Later activation: His eyes emit pale-silver light during the Evil Soul Master investigation 117 125.
- Usual expression: Calm and often expressionless, making him easy to overlook 16 17.
Personality
Jiang Lin is reserved and economical with words. At the academy, he rarely initiates conversations; even under a direct threat to his eyes, he remains in position and continues observing the battlefield 16 117.
His experience of childhood ostracism shapes his patience with frightened children. He approaches them at eye level, avoids rushing their decisions, and explains unusual bodily changes without treating them as defects. He sends A Shan to approach Yi Chen first because their shared experience may make conversation easier 203 205 207 209.
As a teacher, he is meticulous but initially overprotective. He records small physical and spiritual changes, yet hesitates to push training beyond what he understands. When Bai Lingyu challenges that caution, Jiang Lin listens and changes course while making the risks explicit to everyone involved 239 241 242.

| Xiao Man | Vein Vine associated with his right arm | Emotional stability, controlled extension and withdrawal; anchoring at the inner right elbow 239 240 243 |
| Lin Du | Both legs | Precise landing and force application; anchoring at the outside of the knee 209 239 240 243 |
