Seizing RX-16 (2)
The two soldiers, wearing combat Helmet, had just turned around when Mu Fan could even see the hem of their clothes disappear from sight. Thanks to the powerful black shielding, Mu Fan did not trigger any alarms.
"The corridor within 300 meters is a non-electronically triggered trap, passively activated by physical means, so you need to proceed according to my orders. Pay attention to the grid on the ground, start from the right 2, take 15 steps, then step left, continue forward 3 steps, then step left 2 steps..." Hei gave the orders directly into the headset. Mu Fan stepped carefully on the cold floor barefoot.
"Double the speed again, speed it up! 14 seconds!" Hei urged. At this speed Mu Fan in too much danger. If those two soldiers saw him, he probably wouldn't have a chance to get out alive.
A near-death experience.
Dark Breath swirled around him, Mu Fan concentrated his mental energy, focusing entirely on the squares beneath his feet. He could see a figure moving forward along a strange path in the corridor.
"2 seconds! Good, you've bought yourself 2 extra seconds. Now turn left." The two soldiers on the right had just walked halfway Mu Fan successfully bought himself extra time.
"Keep your speed, run 200 meters, then there's a corner on your left, go in, room 106, push the door open and go in!" The winding passage continued to extend into the mountainside, but no one else was seen yet. Mu Fan's figure was nowhere to be seen on the monitoring equipment or in the thermal imaging camera.
Following Hei's instructions, Mu Fan quickly arrived at room 106, a silver metal door with an air grille and laser-etched serial numbers on it.
Without time to think further, Mu Fan Open Gate and was greeted by four empty beds with scattered blankets and a few pieces of clothing lying around.
"Pick up the clothes on your right and put them on!" A camera on the ceiling inside the room was pointed at Mu Fan's position.
Mu Fan sniffed and smelled a strong odor of engine oil. Following the source of the smell, he saw a dark blue work uniform still on the bed, used as a cover.
"This room is a dormitory for mechanical repair workers in the Federation, not a soldier's dormitory. The workers over there have already started inspections. Change your clothes quickly; this is the only way you can get through this. Remember to wear a hat, and then follow my instructions." Hei Yi gave Mu Fan a series of instructions, explaining things clearly in advance.
Mu Fan glanced at the oversized work clothes, picked them up, and put them on, carefully covering the cuffs and hems of the linen garment. Then he found a pair of work shoes with steel plates under the bed. Thank goodness he had taken off his shoes earlier, Mu Fan thought with relief.
So when he went out again a minute later, Mu Fan, dressed in a blue uniform that reeked of engine oil, perfectly embodied the image of a mechanic.
"Let's relax and move forward. Those workers have already made 50% progress. This time, walk quickly, don't run, just pass through any obstacles you encounter." Hei Gei explained the next steps to Mu Fan.
Mu Fan nodded, the Dark Breath dissipated, and his aura returned to what it was like in the slums before. Now, he was a perfect match in terms of both demeanor and appearance.
According to Black, one needs to pass through three more checkpoints and then descend 76 meters via a suspended elevator before finally entering the Mecha Hangar.
Pulling his work cap down, after walking less than a hundred meters and turning through several passageways, Mu Fan finally saw soldiers armed with guns guarding a security gate.
"Palmprint recognition!" a stern voice rang out.
Mu Fan obediently placed his hand on the checkpoint. "Recognition passed." He then swaggered through the first checkpoint, while the two soldiers continued to stand there faithfully at their posts.
Following the same method, I passed the second checkpoint, but encountered a small problem at the third checkpoint near the entrance to the floating elevator.
"Didn't you just go down? Why are you alone?" The soldier's shoulder insignia were a little different. Mu Fan didn't recognize him as the sergeant major and asked, looking down.
As expected, Hei did not disappoint him, and his voice came through simultaneously. "The mech is over 50% ready. I'll be in charge of the final check." In the Optical Brain system, Hei had quietly added Mu Fan's permissions, Senior Mechanical Repairman - Fan Mu.
Nodding, he took the palm print recognition result to check. There were no problems. Chu Chu showed that he was a senior mechanical repairman named Fan Mu. The sergeant was a little puzzled as he let Mu Fan into the levitation elevator. Why didn't he have any impression of this person before? But then again, there were quite a few workers here.
He shook his head and continued to stand guard with his gun at the ready.
The suspended elevator we rode on this time was noticeably less magnificent than the one inside the Martial Arts Hall, but despite its simplicity, we could feel the solid workmanship beneath the heavy metal.
As Mu Fan emerged from the suspended elevator, he immediately saw the massive Mecha Hangar, dozens of meters high. At that moment, rows of blue, white, and red mechs stood silently there, their cold weapons reflecting the light. Blue-clad workers, riding self-propelled machines, continuously created sparks on their outer shells, while a large circle of soldiers surrounded them at a distance.
This was a true steel behemoth! Upon seeing the red, diamond-shaped Heavy Shield, Mu Fan almost held his breath. The real-life mech was far more awe-inspiring than anything he'd seen on the PO Battle Network. You could clearly see the various battle marks on the broad, silver-white Metal Greatsword. The realistic metallic sheen, combined with the massive, heavy chassis, created an oppressive atmosphere that made it hard to breathe. A group of maintenance workers were conducting pre-battle checks on the leg armor. In the intermittent flashes of electric arcs, Mu Fan could clearly see the gleaming heat dissipation vents around the two energy reactor nozzles on the back.
The firearms on its back were quite different from those I had seen on the PO Battle Network; they were more complex and bore the insignia of the Federation Army. The weapons carried by the two I had seen earlier were also different from those carried by the other two.
The closest one in front of us is a black Rapid-fire Gun hanging on its back, the one a little further away is a six-barreled machine gun, and the one furthest away is completely empty.
"Speed up the preparations! Why hasn't that RX-16 over there been armed yet? Where are the officers? Hurry up!" Suddenly, a reprimand came from the loudspeaker. Mu Fan looked over and saw an officer in a second lieutenant's uniform shouting in the center area.
Mu Fan saw him, and he saw Mu Fan too. He glared at him, and an angry voice rang out. "What are you doing? What are you standing there for? Hurry up and go over there! Yes, it's you, stop looking."
When Mu Fan shook his head left and right and realized that someone was looking at him, he finally confirmed that the person was talking about him.
"The opportunity has arrived. Save yourself the trouble of dealing with Lord Black's arrangements. Hurry up and go!" Blackie urged urgently into the headset.
So someone shoved a welding torch into Mu Fan's hand, and he walked to the bottom of the third RX-16 mech, looking up at the steel behemoth.
"Operators, get into the cockpit and prepare! Strike in 60 seconds! Hey you over there, hurry up! You have 30 seconds!" The officer shouted at Mu Fan again. A three-meter-long infantry melee weapon was slowly hoisted over by the mechanical arm operated by other maintenance workers.
Mu Fan watched as a soldier entered the mech, closed the hatch, and asked in a low voice, "What should we do?"
"Go up the work ladder and get close to the hatch. In ten seconds, I will cut off the power for two seconds to create the illusion of an unstable circuit. You must enter within two seconds, and then it's up to you."
Mu Fan nodded, but just four or five seconds later, a loud "boom" was heard. It turned out that the mountain was being attacked, and rocks were already falling from above. The workers on the Mecha Hangar platform immediately erupted in a noisy commotion.
"Good opportunity!" Hei suddenly blurted out, and then Mu Fan saw the lights inside the giant Mecha Hangar flicker a few times and then go out, plunging the crowd into chaos.
Black acted ahead of time, with only 2 seconds left!
At this moment, a sharp light flashed in Mu Fan's eyes, Blood-colored Vision! He pulled open the cockpit door, which had already been quietly opened, and slipped inside.
Bang! A karate chop knocked the young soldier, who hadn't even registered what was happening, unconscious. Then, under Black's command, he was placed upright into the side Escape Pod. After closing the Escape Pod, Mu Fan sat back down, his hands on the control panel, cockpit in control. Objective achieved!
The lights came back on, and the commotion subsided considerably. A furious roar came through the lieutenant's walkie-talkie, followed by an order over the loudspeaker, "No time to wait! All units, attack! Close combat, artillery fire, and sortie in formation!"
In the midst of the hasty orders, no one noticed that the furthest RX-16 had quietly changed hands!
