Before Suisui and the others were about to leave, Gu Wancheng took him to the art studio.
Standing in front of a painting covered with a white sheet, he lifted the sheet, turned to Suisui with a smile, and said, "Here, this is a gift for you. Uncle Gu painted it by hand. Do you like it?"
His Suisui eyes reflected the painting. He paused, his mouth opened slightly but no sound came out. After a while, he blinked and a slight smile appeared on his lips. "Thank you, Uncle Gu. I like it very much."
Gu Wancheng gently stroked his hair and said softly, " Suisui looks very pretty when he smiles. If you like it, Uncle Gu will draw it for you again next time."
Suisui glanced at the painting, unable to bring herself to refuse, so she nodded, "Thank you, Uncle Gu."
"Okay, let's go downstairs."
"Good."
Gu Wancheng helped him take the painting down and handed it to Lin Ting. Lin Ting took it and looked at it, "Wow, it's quite good. It has the makings of a master."
Gu Wancheng smiled. "It's alright, there's still a lot of room for improvement."
Lin Ting raised her hand, signaling him to shut up. "You're too modest. It would be so much better if your hands were on my body."
"Then you'd have four arms, wouldn't you?"
Lin Ting didn't seem to mind, and even looked excited. "Why not? Four hands are so cool! Okay, we should go home now. See you next time."
See you next time, Suisui!
Goodbye, Uncle Gu.
Chaochao's lips curled down, and she tugged at the Suisui hem of her clothes. "Can't you sleep in my house with me?"
Suisui pulled his hand away, "I'm sorry."
Before Chaochao could say anything more, Gu Wancheng quickly covered his mouth, "Sorry, you guys should go back first."
Suisui glanced at Chaochao, nodded, and turned to leave. Lin Ting watched Chaochao with a smile, and before leaving, she said, "So pitiful."
Chaochao defiantly broke free of his hand, glaring at him with wide eyes, "Dad, what are you doing!"
Gu Wancheng shrugged. "You have to go to school tomorrow, didn't you forget?"
Chaochao froze on the spot, and after a long while, she reacted, "Oh, okay."
After saying that, he turned and went upstairs.
Gu Wancheng called out to his retreating figure, "Remember to go to bed early, or you won't be able to get up tomorrow and will be late."
Chaochao immediately walked even faster, Gu Wancheng laughed at the sight.
Since he had just returned, Bo Yizhou was busy handling company business and preparing for a trip, so he had to work overtime until very late during this period.
At 11:30, Gu Wancheng was extremely sleepy and blinked her eyes frantically, but he still hadn't returned.
Looking at the message he had sent her not long ago on her phone, Gu Wancheng pouted, sent him a message in return, and then found a comfortable position under the covers to go to sleep.
She fell into a deep sleep in no time, so much so that she didn't react at all to the noises that Bo Yizhou made when he returned.
The next morning, the bed next to her had already gotten cold. Gu Wancheng glanced at the time, her eyes widened instantly, and she sat up abruptly.
Oh my god, I'm going to be late!
Just as I was about to get out of bed, I caught a glimpse of a green sticky note on the bedside lamp.
Gu Wancheng reached out and tore it off with a puzzled look. It said something on it.
'I'll take Chaochao to school, you can sleep a little longer.'
A small heart was drawn at the back.
Gu Wancheng's tense nerves immediately relaxed. She leaned back, glanced at the sticky note a few times, and prepared to put it in the bedside table drawer.
As soon as I opened the drawer, I saw sticky notes of various colors, each with writing on it. After putting a new sticky note inside, I slowly closed the drawer.
I rolled over in bed, startled by the fright. It scared away all my sleepiness, and now I don't want to sleep at all.
Thinking back to yesterday when he told Chaochao to go to bed early or she would be late, he almost became the culprit who made Chaochao late.
That's the downside of kids going to school; it feels like going to work. I definitely need to set an alarm for tomorrow.
We can't always have Bo Yizhou deliver them; he's already busy.
In the afternoon, just as Chaochao was about to get out of school, Gu Wancheng was already waiting at the school gate, bringing with her the drawing she had made for An'an.
The two had come out together, and when Gu Wancheng saw An'an about to walk in the other direction, she quickly called out to her.
An'an walked towards him with a puzzled look. "Good afternoon, Uncle Gu. Is there anything I can help you with?"
Gu Wancheng took the painting out of the car and placed it in front of An'an, " Uncle Gu has a gift for you."
An'an jumped up in surprise, and with some effort, spun around while holding the painting. "Wow, it's so beautiful! Thank you, Uncle Gu! I love it!"
Gu Wancheng smiled at her excited expression, then reached out to support her back to prevent her from falling to the ground.
An'an bowed ninety degrees to him, "Thank you, Uncle Gu."
Gu Wancheng didn't even have time to react. "You're welcome. Okay, go home now, be careful."
"Okay, thank you, Uncle Gu."
In just a few minutes, An'an had already said thank you three times. This little girl is so polite.
After watching An'an get into the car, Gu Wancheng looked down at Chaochao and said, "Get in the car, let's go home."
Chaochao: "Okay."
Gu Wancheng asked, "Was going to school fun today?"
Chaochao immediately said, "That's fun! We learned how to make little lanterns today!"
Gu Wancheng asked curiously, "Oh, how did it go?"
When asked this, Chaochao hesitated for a moment before answering, "I got five stars."
Gu Wancheng didn't react for a moment, then immediately exclaimed, "Wow, that's great!" Then she remembered, "By the way, how many stars are there in total?"
Chaochao stopped talking and turned her face away. Gu Wancheng raised an eyebrow, but before she could speak again, she heard Chaochao's voice.
There are ten stars in total.
"Um?"
"Ten stars in total!" This time, Chaochao's voice was much louder than before.
"You got five out of ten stars," Gu Wancheng thought for a moment and comforted you, "That's already pretty good, at least you got half, right?"
He shouldn't have said anything, because once he did, Chaochao almost couldn't hold back anymore and immediately turned her head away, saying, "Stop talking, you're so annoying."
Gu Wancheng an awkward Xiaoxiao and wisely shut her mouth.
Throughout the journey, Chaochao was unusually quiet, but upon arriving home, she still remembered to look for Suisui.
Gu Wancheng watched his retreating figure and guessed that he had probably gone to seek comfort.
Faced with Butler Chen's question, Gu Wancheng gently shook her head and remained silent.
Gu Wancheng said, "Let's add some cola chicken wings tonight."
"OK."
When it was time for dinner, Chaochao came home happily. It seemed that Suisui had coaxed her into submission. Seeing the cola chicken wings on the table, her eyes widened in surprise, "Thank you, Dad!"
Gu Wancheng pushed the chicken wings in front of him, "Eat more."
Chaochao generously gave him two chicken wings before starting to eat, saying, "Okay."
After finishing her meal, Gu Wancheng went to check on Chaochao's room and found him fiddling with a small lantern on the table.
It must be the one he made at school today. The shape is indeed a bit ugly, so it seems those five stars are just consolation points. When Chaochao saw him, she quickly covered up the little lantern.
Gu Wancheng didn't tell him that he had actually seen it. After telling Chaochao to go to bed early, she turned and left.
