Ye Yao awakens on Douluo Continent with his soul divided among the Azure Dragon, White Tiger, Vermilion Bird, and Black Tortoise. Each body provides a separate viewpoint and can move independently. His Vermilion Bird body awakens inside a volcano, resting in lava that feels as comfortable as a hot spring 1.

The Four Holy Beasts System requires each body to be killed by a powerful Soul Master and become that person’s Soul Ring. Ye Yao can then use the sacred beast’s soul to possess the absorber. For the Vermilion Bird, flame- or phoenix-attribute Soul Masters offer the best compatibility and therefore better mission rewards 1.

Because the bodies initially occupy uninhabited locations, attracting suitable hunters is an immediate obstacle. The Heavenly Screen exposes the great Soul Beasts and their locations while concealing the system’s missions and reverse-possession mechanism 1.

Appearance

• Body: A gigantic crimson bird whose true size is much greater than its Heavenly Screen image suggests; its wings cover the entire volcanic crater before it has fully emerged 10 24.
• Feathers: Fiery-red plumage wrapped in flames, with individual feathers resembling magma 10 25.

Personality

The Vermilion Bird’s conduct reflects Ye Yao’s relaxed, calculating approach to his mission. He leisurely watches the Heavenly Screen while soaking in magma, studies the experts surrounding him as potential possession targets, and remains unflustered by their presence. During the prolonged standoff, he preens his feathers as though the assembled Douluos do not exist 2 25 30.

Flame Manipulation

The Vermilion Bird possesses exceptionally powerful fire-attribute strength, with both its wings and bodily flames capable of intense incineration 10.

• Can launch large-scale flame attacks rather than relying solely on direct contact 10.
• Its emergence releases heat powerful enough to make Sword Douluo, Bone Douluo, and Tang Xiao use Soul Power to withstand it 23.
• Its heat melts much of Light Feather Douluo’s surrounding ice, forcing him to abandon his ice-arrow flight and travel on foot 24.

Four Holy Beasts Bond

The Vermilion Bird’s bloodline resonates with those of the Azure Dragon, White Tiger, and Black Tortoise, allowing their complementary powers to unite 16.

• All four beasts must gather to activate the bond and complete their fusion 16.
• The completed fusion is stated to possess power beyond God Level; this is not the Vermilion Bird’s individual power level 16.

Soul Ring Conversion and Reverse Possession

As one of Ye Yao’s sacred-beast bodies, the Vermilion Bird can transfer its consciousness into the Soul Ring produced after its death 1.

• A qualifying Soul Master must kill it through their own strength and absorb its ring before reverse possession can occur 1.
• Ye Yao must fight at full strength; voluntary sacrifice, deliberate restraint, or an outside party delivering the kill invalidates the mission 1.
• Its consciousness cannot leave the ring before absorption, while the other bodies remain unaffected by its death 1.

Heavenly Screen Revelation

The Heavenly Screen introduces the Vermilion Bird as the second-ranked Soul Beast, exposing its location, juvenile state, fire abilities, and ancient bloodline. Many distant spectators dismiss it because its two-hundred-thousand-year age seems unimpressive beside the nearly million-year Deep Sea Demonic Whale King 10.

Its volcanic habitat initially discourages serious pursuit. The Seven Treasure Glazed Tile Sect lacks fire-specialist main combatants, the Clear Sky Sect considers fighting a flying beast over lava unsuitable for its hammers, and both empires decline to send additional forces to the volcano 11.

Race for the Four Holy Beasts’ Soul Rings

The revelation of the Four Holy Beasts Bond changes the stakes. Ning Fengzhi chooses to pursue the Vermilion Bird to prevent Spirit Hall from monopolizing all four beasts. The announcement that their rings can replace existing Soul Rings further intensifies the competition 16 17 18 19.

Three major forces converge on Crimson Flame Volcano 20 23:

Crimson Flame Volcano Standoff

Ning Fengzhi leaves the weaker disciples behind and approaches the crater under Sword Douluo and Bone Douluo’s protection. Before they can probe the bird’s strength, the Clear Sky Sect and Worship Hall arrive. The volcano then shakes, lava surges upward, and the Vermilion Bird unfurls its enormous wings 22 23.

Its true size and heat force the hunters to reposition. Sword Douluo and Bone Douluo retreat with Ning Fengzhi, while Tang Xiao orders his elders to spread out and avoid approaching the crater 24.

Ye Yao studies the assembled experts as possible hosts but is disappointed that they are all elderly. None of the factions attacks first: each fears exposing itself to the bird and the rival hunters. The Vermilion Bird remains calm, preening at the crater while Tang Xiao unsuccessfully seeks a firm commitment from Ning Fengzhi against Spirit Hall 25 30.

• Ye Yao — The consciousness controlling the Vermilion Bird; uses it to seek a compatible, powerful host through the system’s reverse-possession mission 1 25.
