The Blue Silver Grass Martial Soul is useless? That's a lie, it's incredibly powerful!
In the four days since Lin Xiao obtained the Blue Silver Grass, he has finally unlocked one percent of its potential.
These past few days, he'd been lying in bed unable to move, and with nothing to do, he'd been channeling his spiritual energy into that little blue grass. As he did so, he realized something was wrong; this thing wasn't a useless Martial Soul at all, it was just that Tang Xiaosan, that idiot, didn't know how to use it at all.
Let's start with the first ability discovered: using vines for transportation.
Lin Xiao activated the Blue Silver Grass from within his body, and four thumb-thick azure vines drooped down from the bed, supporting him on the ground like four legs. He tried to move them forward with his mind, and the vines actually moved forward. Left front, right back, right front, left back, the four vines took turns stepping, lifting him up from the bed and suspending him steadily in mid-air.
"Holy shit."
Lin Xiao looked down at his body, which was half a meter off the ground, and then at his four vine legs that were marching in unison. A smile slowly crept onto his lips. Doctor Octopus is nothing. He thinks he's all that just because he has four mechanical tentacles. I have four vine legs that can bloom flowers and play at the same time as I walk. Purely natural and harmless.
He controlled his vine legs to walk around the bedroom twice. His steps were steady, his turns were agile, and he could even go up and down the stairs. When going down the stairs, his four vine legs bent alternately, smoothly carrying him and his wheelchair to the living room on the first floor. Mei, who was chopping vegetables in the kitchen, peeked out, glanced at him, and then withdrew.
She'd gotten used to it. At first, she was startled when she saw plants growing on Lin Xiao's body and wanted to take Lin Xiao to see a doctor, but after a few days of Lin Xiao causing trouble with the vines every day, she just stopped caring about it.
The second ability: can grow anything.
Lin Xiao discovered that as long as he poured his mental energy into the Blue Silver Grass and imagined the appearance of a plant, the Blue Silver Grass could simulate that plant. He started with something simple—the grass on the lawn. With a burst of mental energy, the Blue Silver Grass rooted itself into the ground, and in less than ten seconds, the entire lawn turned emerald green, with the blades so neatly arranged as if measured with a ruler.
Then he tried to coax a rose. A Blue Silver Grass sprouted from the soil, a bud swelling at its tip. The bud opened, revealing a perfectly beautiful red rose, its petals still glistening with dew. Lin Xiao picked it and smelled it; it still had a fragrance.
He planted the entire yard with flowers in one go, flowers of every season: roses, tulips, lavender, sunflowers, and a few other flowers whose names he didn't know but which looked familiar, a colorful carpet covering the ground. When the neighbor passed by, he stopped and stared at the suddenly appearing sea of flowers for several seconds, then took out his phone to take pictures. Lin Xiao used his vine legs to walk to the window and waved to the neighbor. The neighbor didn't recognize him, only seeing a person covered in bandages being supported by four blue vines, and was so startled that he almost dropped his phone.
Third ability: Blue Silver Grass Tips - Stir-frying
This discovery was purely accidental. Lin Xiao, tired from walking on his vine-like legs, slumped in his wheelchair to rest. Bored, he broke off a tender shoot of Blue Silver Grass and chewed it. His eyes lit up the next second. This stuff was crisp, refreshing, and had a very faint sweetness, somewhat like tender bamboo shoots, and somewhat like asparagus, but tastier than both. He broke off another piece, this time dipping it in some soybean paste. The taste was even better.
That evening, Mei stir-fried a dish with tender shoots of Blue Silver Grass. It was simply stir-fried with minced garlic, nothing else was added, and when it was served, the whole dish was still emitting a blue glow.
"This... I hope it won't cause poisoning?" Mei asked hesitantly, holding her chopsticks.
Lin Xiao had already picked up a piece of food with his chopsticks and stuffed it into his mouth, chewing it with a crunch. "If I'm going to die, I'll die first. Mmm, delicious, I love it."
Mei took a bite with some skepticism, then her eyes lit up. Betty returned from the lab and, seeing the plate of bluish-green food on the table, immediately took a picture with her phone and sent it to her lab colleagues, asking if they had ever seen this plant before. Natasha was also there today. She picked up a piece with her chopsticks, put it in her mouth, chewed it twice, and then expressionlessly picked up another piece. She didn't say anything, but her chopsticks never stopped moving.
Tony arrived the next day. He had originally come to mock Lin Xiao for being in a wheelchair, but upon seeing the plate of tender Blue Silver Grass sprouts on the table, he casually grabbed one, popped it into his mouth, chewed it, and fell silent. After about three seconds, he spoke, "Is there any more?"
"There's plenty in the fields."
Tony glanced at the sea of flowers outside the window, still faintly glowing blue, then at the few tender shoots in his hand. His lips moved several times before he finally squeezed out a sentence through gritted teeth. "Mass production. I'll invest in you. Fifty-fifty split."
"You get three, I get seven."
"I'll take four, you take six; that's my bottom line."
"Make a deal."
The two shook hands, and that's how the basic framework of Blue Silver Grass Agricultural Development Co., Ltd. was established. Of course, it was just a joke, but this stuff really is delicious.
That afternoon, Lin Xiao decided to go out. He had been staying at home for several days and was almost moldy. The weather was nice today, so he decided to go out and soak up some sun.
He had Mei push him to the door, then he controlled the four vine legs to support the wheelchair, slowly moving forward along the sidewalk. The four azure vines shimmered in the sunlight, their steps perfectly synchronized, supporting the wheelchair steadily without even a jolt.
Pedestrians on the street turned their heads in disbelief. A man covered in bandages and with his feet in casts sat in a wheelchair with four blue vine legs growing out of it, moving rapidly across the sidewalk at a speed comparable to that of a moving car. Some people took out their phones to take pictures, some whispered among themselves, and others, thinking it was some kind of new performance art, threw two coins at his wheelchair.
Lin Xiao used Blue Silver Grass to form two vines, picked up the coin and put it in his pocket, then used another vine to split and weave it into an international friendship gesture, waving it at the passerby who threw the coin.
The passerby paused for a moment, then gave him a thumbs up.
Lin Xiao continued walking. His wheelchair, with its rattan legs, wobbled a little as he walked, but it felt comfortable, like being carried in a sedan chair by four porters, bouncing up and down. He leaned back in his chair, squinting in the sun, humming the tune of " Good Days," in a wonderful mood.
As he turned six blocks and was about to reach the overpass, he saw thick smoke billowing from a high-end hotel in the distance. The fire was huge; all the windows from the fifth to the seventh floor were ablaze, and black smoke was shooting into the sky. The smell of burning could be smelled from half a block away. Fire trucks were still stuck three blocks away, their sirens blaring, but they couldn't get through. The streets were crowded with onlookers and cars parked haphazardly.
Lin Xiao squinted and counted the floors. The fire started on the fifth floor and had already spread to the seventh floor. The windows on the eighth floor were not yet smoking, but the glass had been blackened by the heat and could shatter at any moment.
There's a girl at the window on the eighth floor.
The little girl was peering down from the windowsill. She had black hair, yellow skin, and a typical Asian face; she looked to be only fourteen or fifteen years old. Everyone else was running outside, but she was trapped on the eighth floor, too scared to move.
Lin Xiao frowned.
That was an Asian man, and he was a child.
"Hold."
Lin Xiao moved his fingers, and the four vine legs exerted force simultaneously, launching him and his wheelchair into the air.
In that instant Blue Silver Grass displayed a flexibility that even Lin Xiao himself hadn't anticipated. Two vines wrapped around the fire escape railing, and with a sudden jerk, swung him across three lanes of traffic, landing him steadily on the second-floor exterior wall opposite the hotel. Immediately afterwards, a third vine wrapped around the windowsill of the adjacent building, and a fourth vine precisely embedded itself in the brickwork ten centimeters below the eighth-floor window.
The wheelchair hovered in mid-air, four vines pulling him upwards in alternating motions. The speed was slow but steady, and with each step upwards, a gasp could be heard from the onlookers.
"What's that thing? Ghost-Spider?" someone shouted from downstairs.
"It's not Ghost-Spider, it's Wheelchair Man!" the Little Boy next to him excitedly corrected. His mother quickly covered his mouth and pulled him out of the crowd.
Lin Xiao didn't have time to pay attention to their discussion. He had already reached the eighth-floor window.
The girl was still leaning against the windowsill when she saw Lin Xiao and froze. A person covered in bandages was sitting in a wheelchair with four blue vine-like legs growing out of it, like a giant spider clinging to the wall, with a nonchalant smile on his face.
"Are you... Professor X's relative?" the little girl blinked and asked in fluent English, her tone extremely serious. "They're both in wheelchairs, the only thing missing is a bald head."
Lin Xiao's smile froze for a moment.
"Thank you and your family, but I'm not related to Professor X."
Lin Xiao used the vines to pull the little girl out of the window and place her on his lap. The Blue Silver Grass vines wove a dense protective net around the two of them, and the four vine legs began to retreat, one step, two steps, three steps, much faster than when they came up, but still incredibly steady. Flames leaped out of the seventh-floor window, licking the Blue Silver Grass, and a pale blue halo appeared on the surface of the vines, keeping the flames outside.
The little girl looked at the vines, her eyes shining as if she had seen some treasure.
"Your superpower is so cool! My name is Mei Igarashi, codename Maystorm, from the X-Men Academy! Are you Mutants too? Your ability is really cool!"
Lin Xiao's face instantly darkened.
Igarashi? That's a Japan surname.
He risked his life to rush into the fire to save a small child.
" Doupao."
"Ding-- Mei Igarashi, Mutants codename Maystorm, from the X-Men series. Her ability is to manipulate small-scale weather changes for short periods. Note: A huge fan of Storm."
Lin Xiao's face darkened further. He recalled Storm's face, and then the scene in the warehouse where he and Storm clashed with lightning. No matter how he thought about it, he felt that saving Storm's fans was a huge loss.
"If you're so capable, why don't you come down yourself?" Lin Xiao's voice was muffled.
Mei Igarashi stuck out her tongue and slapped her forehead. "Onii-chan, oh my god, I forgot I have this ability! I was so scared just now, all I could think about was screaming for help, I completely forgot I can control storms."
Lin Xiao closed his eyes and took a deep breath.
The wheelchair landed smoothly on the ground, and the crowd erupted in enthusiastic applause and cheers. The fire truck finally squeezed to the intersection, and the firefighters hurriedly set up the water hoses and began spraying water into the fire. The ambulance also arrived, and paramedics pushed a stretcher towards them.
Mei Igarashi jumped off his lap, dusted off her skirt, and turned to look at him. Her gaze lingered on Lin Xiao's face for several seconds, then she tilted her head, her brows furrowing slightly, as if she had remembered something.
I think I've seen you before.
"Impossible." Lin Xiao leaned back in his wheelchair, his tone certain. "Although my face is handsome enough to be easily recognizable, how could a little kid like you have ever seen me before?"
"I really have seen it!" Mei Igarashi leaned closer and stared at his face for several seconds, then clapped her hands in sudden realization, "In my idol's room! Storm's room! Your headshot is stuck on the punching bag, she punches in front of your picture every day!"
Lin Xiao's smile froze completely.
The onlookers were still taking pictures, the firefighters were still busy putting out the fire, and the medical staff were running over. Mei Igarashi stuck out her tongue at him and turned to disappear into the crowd.
"Thank you for saving me! I'll tell Storm!"
"There's no need for that. I don't want to provoke you."
Before Lin Xiao could finish speaking, Mei Igarashi had already run far away. Her figure flashed twice in the crowd and disappeared, leaving only a series of light footsteps and a voice drifting back. "Goodbye, Onii-chan!"
Lin Xiao sat alone in his wheelchair, his four vine-like legs dangling on the concrete floor, while the Blue Silver Grass swayed its leaves listlessly.
Storm stuck his picture on the sandbag.
I punched him in the face every day.
The Japan he saved is now a Storm fan, and he's going back to tell Storm on her.
This is a huge loss.
He was feeling down when he caught a glimpse of the Little Boy who had called him " Wheelchair Man " being dragged away by his mother. The Little Boy kept turning back to look at him, his eyes filled with admiration, shouting, " Wheelchair Man! You're my idol! I want to be the next Wheelchair Man!"
The Little Boy's mother turned green.
Lin Xiao stared at the Little Boy being dragged away, remained silent for a long while, and then the corners of his mouth curled up very slightly.
Wheelchair Man is Wheelchair Man, he's much better than the " Lightning Hedgehog " the military promotes.
He roused his four vine-like legs again, and the wheelchair creaked and groaned as it slowly shuffled towards Manhattan. Behind him came the sirens of fire trucks, the murmurs of onlookers, and the heart-wrenching cry of a Little Boy being dragged along by his mother, "I don't want to be Spider-Man anymore! I want to be Wheelchair Man!"
A reporter who had witnessed everything from a short distance away brightened up. That evening, a breaking news report appeared on television: the presenter, a strikingly beautiful white woman, excitedly announced, "New York City has a new superhero! Despite his disability, he's incredibly determined! Swinging on vines in a wheelchair, he bravely braved a raging inferno to save lives, earning him the affectionate nickname ' Wheelchair Man' from his fans!" Lin Xiao's lips twitched as he read this news. Well, his Homelander hadn't even made a name for themselves yet, and this Wheelchair Man was already famous!
Xavier's School
Mei Igarashi excitedly recounted the day's events to Storm, Storm frowned deeply.
" Lin Xiao? Vine? Could he be Mutants too? No! I need to investigate."
Someone in a wheelchair in the corner nodded slightly.
