Franklin warned the laboratory that multiverse-level calamities were coming from beyond the multiverse and left to join the fight, though he was unsure he could stop them. Emma Frost activated Frost City’s Ark Plan, ordering everyone to return before the city severed all contact with the multiverse in six hours.
As the multiverse faced collapse, Frost City prepared to seal itself off while Barry Allen raced across universes to bring back missing personnel. The city vanished from the multiverse’s radar, leaving its residents isolated and waiting on Thor and the others.
Pharaoh Kang and his variants stole a fragment of time authority from Loki, but their celebration descended into a massacre as the Kangs turned on one another. Thor arrived and destroyed their escape portal with a strike of his axe, confronting Pharaoh Kang and the surviving variants.
Thor defeated Pharaoh Kang and the Council of Kangs, reclaimed Loki’s stolen fragment of time authority, and seized the Cosmic Cube fragment and Ultimate Nullifier. After Pharaoh Kang died without revealing who supplied the artifacts, Thor sensed Jean battling a powerful being and rushed toward the clash.
Reed Richards and Doctor Strange presented Earth-616 with a choice between joining a multiversal expedition and sealing itself off, while Steve Rogers urged the heroes not to sacrifice other worlds. Doctor Doom then appeared and claimed the crisis concealed a greater threat that the heroes knew nothing about.
Doom revealed that Loki had become the god of time to save the multiverse, and he urged the heroes to divide their forces between an expedition to the end of time and defending Earth-616. As the heroes argued over their response, Doctor Strange warned that Mephisto was invading Earth and harvesting souls, and Wanda volunteered to help.
Wanda confronted the heroes over their fear of her, while the multiversal crisis forced them to organize an expedition to the end of time and a defense of Earth. As Reed prepared to launch the Ark, Captain Britain joined the expedition with Merlin’s aid.
Thor reached Loki amid a battle between Jean Grey and a Hulk possessed by the One-Below-All, learning that the creature was a puppet threatening the multiverse’s timelines. Jean was badly wounded, and Thor realized he could not match the enemy’s power.
Jean Grey renewed her attack on the green monster as Thor and Loki tried to hold their position, then Franklin Richards arrived to help. Mephisto appeared at Omniverse Level, effortlessly stopped Franklin and Thor’s combined assault, and offered them a contract to spare their lives.
Thor and Franklin were badly injured fighting Mephisto, but Loki weakened him by erasing timelines and Hell dimensions tied to the variants he had devoured. As Jean Grey fell and the puppet Hulk charged at Loki, the battle at the end of time remained unresolved.
Earth-616 heroes arrived as Puppet Hulk attacked Loki, and Thor Odinson reunited with the god of time. The gathering was interrupted when Bruce Banner heard a demonic whisper.
The One-Below-All corrupted Bruce Banner, transforming him into a Destruction Hulk who joined the puppet Hulk and overwhelmed the heroes. With Mephisto declaring the game had begun, the battered heroes faced the two Hulks and wondered how to fight back.
Thor fought the Destroyer Hulk while Mister Fantastic analyzed its power, and Loki suggested Thor could use the energy sustaining it. Thor began draining Hulk with his Law of Devouring and broke through to the Megaverse Level.
Thor reached Megaverse Level and joined Franklin in helping Jean fight Mephisto, while OBA-powered Hulk overwhelmed the heroes on another battlefield. Reed and Brian severed Hulk’s connection to the Green Door, allowing Doom and Wanda to subdue him and restore Bruce Banner.
Odinson forgave Banner, and the heroes defeated Mephisto after cutting him off from the other Hell Dimensions, while Thor absorbed the scattered power and reached Mid Megaverse Level. Loki restored the timelines and warned that Banner still carried the Green Door to OBA; as the heroes prepared to leave, Wanda asked Thor whether he wielded Chaos Magic.
Thor revealed that he wielded both Chaos Magic and the Phoenix Force, then helped Wanda sever her connection to Chthon and stabilize her power. The Queen of Nevers appeared to investigate Thor, whose timeline she said was blank and outside the existing narrative.
The Queen of Nevers freed Wanda Maximoff from her predestined tragedies, transforming her Chaos Magic and raising her power to Omniverse Level. She also gave Thor a Shard of Possibility, and Wanda agreed to join him at Knowhere.
After the heroes of 616 departed, Thor learned that Loki had become the time anchor for every universe’s timelines and could not leave his post. Thor offered Loki an Eternity Crystal as a substitute, but Loki said he would need hundreds; Thor then left with Franklin, Wanda, and Jean, while Loki watched over the timelines and hoped Thor would soon reach his level.
