Hela stood rooted to the spot, staring blankly at the growing crowd around her, unsure what to do.
"Wow, that girl's amazing! She fell from that high up and didn't die!"
"Her ability must be regeneration. I saw her get badly injured when she fell, but she just recovered..."
"She's such a pretty girl. I want to take her home~" The moment the white-haired boy with an eyepatch over his left eye said that, he was struck with a scabbard. He clutched his head, gave his older brother a resentful look, and clicked his tongue. "Tch!"
The black-haired boy with an eyepatch over his right eye glared at him, then looked at Hela. He was just about to walk over and say something when the instructor's roar came from behind him.
"What are all of you doing gathered here?! Are you trying to fly up to the heavens?!
"Are there some cultural relics here, or some priceless treasures worth gathering to gawk at?!
"Do you need me to hand each of you a camera so you can take a few pictures?!"
"Oh, sure!" The white-haired boy held out his hand to the instructor, asking for one.
The instructor looked at the white-haired boy smiling innocently before him, his lips twitching wildly. Then he kicked him several meters away.
The white-haired boy fell to the ground in pain.
"Anyone else?! Anyone who hasn't had enough fun, I'll deal with you personally!!" the instructor roared.
Everyone else scattered in fright, leaving Hela standing alone in a mess.
The older brother helped his younger brother up, then bowed politely to the instructor in apology. "I'm sorry, Instructor. My younger brother has a bit of a smart mouth. Please don't be angry."
The instructor's expression softened somewhat. He looked at the black-haired boy and asked, "What's your name?"
"My name is Ye Yiqing." Ye Yiqing smiled politely.
The instructor nodded slightly. "Keep an eye on your brother!" With that, he waved them away.
Ye Yiqing nodded and helped his younger brother leave, but his brother still looked at the instructor with a defiant expression and secretly gave him the middle finger.
The instructor's lips twitched wildly. Suppressing the urge to rush over and give him a beating, he looked at Hela.
"What are you here for?"
"To take part in the training," Hela answered, standing as straight as she could.
"Then what are you still standing here for? Hurry up and pick a dorm room, then change into your uniform."
"Yes." Hela stood where she was, looking at the instructor.
"Then get going! What are you standing there like a fool for?!" Seeing that Hela was still standing there after a while, the instructor shouted at her.
"Where are the dorms?"
"..." The instructor looked at the calm-faced Hela, momentarily at a loss for words. Then he wearily rubbed his forehead and pointed her in a direction.
"Thank you, sir. Goodbye." Hela thanked the instructor with a stiff smile she had practiced many times with Si Xiaobei, then headed toward the dorms.
"You're supposed to call me Instructor." The instructor was speechless.
Hela's steps faltered. She stopped and turned to the instructor. "Thank you, Mr. Instructor. Goodbye." Then she continued toward the dorms.
"...Sigh, looks like this batch will be hard to handle..." The instructor sighed and muttered to himself.
Hela arrived at the girls' dormitory building and began choosing a room. She wasn't particularly early, but she wasn't late either, so there were still plenty of rooms available. Hela wasn't picky, so she simply found a room with an empty bed and walked in.
It was a double room, and fairly spacious. Although the conditions weren't as good as the dorms at the Special Investigation Squad, they were still passable.
Hela put the bedding and uniform that had already been prepared on her bed on the floor, then picked up the bedsheet and slowly began making the bed.
Xing Lan had taught her how to do this before, so Hela soon finished.
After making the bed, Hela took off her jacket and began putting on the uniform.
Once she had changed, Hela felt that it fit strangely. The uniform seemed too big.
But Hela didn't think much of it and began sorting out her other belongings.
"La la~ la~ la la~ la~ la la, hmm?!"
A girl skipped up to the dorm room door. Through the window, she suddenly noticed Hela making the bed. Then, as if remembering something, she hurriedly cleared her throat.
Smiling, she pushed open the door.
Hela heard the noise, stopped what she was doing, and turned around.
"Hello, hello! My name is Han Keru! You can just call me Keke. Um, we're going to be roommates from now on!" Keke took Hela's hand and greeted her warmly.
Hela nodded blankly. Then she remembered that Si Xiaobei had taught her to give her name when meeting someone for the first time, so she spoke, her words somewhat unclear.
"My name Hela."
"Huh? He... la... That doesn't sound like a Daxia name." Keke studied Hela's appearance and, combining that with her unclear speech, came to a conclusion.
"I know! You're a foreigner, right?"
Hela honestly shook her head.
Keke froze. "That can't be right. You look kind of Western, and your name sounds Western too. Besides, the way you talk is a little strange. Or are your parents foreigners?"
Hela thought carefully for a moment.
Parents? Did I have those? Oh, right, who were my parents? What the heck gave birth to me? Hela lowered her head in thought.
Hela felt that her brain wasn't up to the task again.
Seeing Hela fall silent, Keke thought she had said something wrong and hurriedly changed the subject.
"Uh, um... um, Hela, you, um, um, uh...
"Oh, right! Hela, what's your special ability?"
Hela raised her head and recalled what Sun Hai had said earlier. She answered expressionlessly, "I'm a [Symbiote], and my symbiotic partner is [HeLa Cell]."
"Huh, [HeLa Cell]?" Keke began to groan inwardly. I'm done for, I'm done for. What's [HeLa Cell]?! What ability does it have? Oh no, I don't know what to do!
And Hela seems so cold and aloof. If I say I don't know, will she get angry and ignore me? No, I have to get along with my roommate. Forget it, I'll just bite the bullet!
Keke froze for a moment, then smiled and said, "Ah, that's really impressive! Hela, you're amazing!"
Hela continued to look at Keke expressionlessly.
Keke began to tremble slightly as her thoughts ran wild. What does that mean? Does she think I'm just saying that to humor her? Why isn't she reacting at all?
"Oh, my ability is called [Three-Dimensional Metal Body]! Its power... is that I can control metal."
With that, Keke pulled a metal cube measuring one centimeter on each side out of her pocket and placed it on her hand.
Then the metal cube slowly rose into the air and hovered above Keke's palm.
Keke opened her hand slightly, and the cube began to expand, slowly growing to the size of a head.
Then she gently pinched her fingers together, and the metal cube rapidly flattened into a thin sheet of metal.
"What do you think? Not bad, right? It changes back whenever I stop controlling it, but I still think it's pretty convenient." Keke put the cube away and looked at Hela with a slightly awkward smile.
After watching Keke's demonstration, Hela nodded affirmatively and said, still expressionless, "Amazing."
Keke immediately breathed a sigh of relief, but then grew nervous again. Hela really is so cold and aloof, and so pretty too. I wonder if I'll be able to get along with her this year.
Hela blinked her pink eyes and went back to organizing her luggage.
