Ye Yiqing was born and raised in Great Xia. Although he carried a katana and had spent several months in Nihon Nation, he explicitly rejected Xing Lan’s assumption that he was a Nihon ninja. His family later lived primarily in Nihon Nation 104 341.

His childhood was marked by abuse involving a group of more than a dozen people. He killed his biological father at twelve. Years later, he expressed a desire to resurrect his father specifically to torture him, rather than reconcile with him 270 428 438.

Ye Ciqing is two years younger and shares his mother, but not his father. Ye Yiqing stated that he learned the saber to protect his loved ones, a motive that later led him to teach Han Xiaoxiao 80 268.

• Build and features: A 1.8-meter-tall man with delicate, handsome features 104.
• Hair: Long black hair, worn tied up during his fight with the giant wolf 71.

Personality

Ye Yiqing ordinarily presents himself as gentle, modest, and unfailingly courteous. He downplays exceptional swordsmanship as knowing only “a little,” comforts his younger brother, and tries to settle a cafeteria confrontation without escalating it. Even after catching a saber thrown toward him, he returns it to Hela with a mild warning rather than anger 49 53 55 80.

His composure can conceal intense anger. During interrogation, he continues smiling while an instrument records an anger level beyond its outburst threshold. References to his family’s abuse expose a much harsher side: he openly anticipates torturing his resurrected father and later mutilates a surviving childhood abuser 268 428 438.

His strongest attachment is to his mother and brother. After their deaths, he becomes emotionally withdrawn while continuing to issue operational orders. In his final battle, Han Xiaoxiao’s determination to kill him drives his hatred of humanity to its peak; he believes that only his mother and brother ever showed him kindness 493 507.

Story Role / Major Arcs

Recruit Training

Ye Yiqing first demonstrates his strength while fighting an instructor for bells. Hela joins him, exploiting her regenerative body to trap the instructor’s blades while Ye Yiqing attacks. He later distributes the bells among their companions and thanks her for helping 49 50 53.

During survival training, he rescues Ye Ciqing from a plant Variant and fights the giant wolf with a broken bone saber. Despite grievous injuries and interference from Han Xiaoxiao, he eventually decapitates it. Hela then knocks him unconscious, consumes the corpse, and tells him ants ate it 68 71 72 75.

Afterward, he agrees to teach Han Xiaoxiao, explaining that he also learned the saber to protect family 80.

Special Investigation Squad and Betrayal

Ye Yiqing and Ye Ciqing join the Special Investigation Squad. His King Master cultivation and ability-free sword qi immediately attract attention. He spars with Liu Xiaogang, then participates in the investigation of a village suspected of conducting sacrifices to a god 102 107 108 111.

The brothers later reveal themselves as undercover Light God Society members. Ye Yiqing asks Hela to leave the Night Stars with him; after she refuses, they attack her and Xing Lan. When Hela decapitates Ye Ciqing, the brothers fuse into Ye Qing 138 139 140.

Following their separation, Ye Yiqing participates in the operation to retrieve Hela from confinement. His escape brings him face-to-face with Heroic Spirit, who instantly kills his accompanying Venomous Spider 150 153 156.

Imprisonment and Return

Ye Yiqing later appears as a severely tortured prisoner. An interrogator probes his family history, while a cleaner secretly supplies him with a knife and invokes the Light God Society’s cause. During the escape, his killing intent stops concentrated gunfire despite his emaciated condition 267 268 269.

Lin Wushuang brings him back to Shimizu Residence, where Ye Linwan and Ye Ciqing greet him. After learning recent events, he vows to find Hela 272.

Recruitment and the Five Calamities

Ye Yiqing negotiates an alliance with the Sea Shark Dragons by promising resurrection for their dead and revenge against humanity. He extends a similar offer to Hela, who responds by impaling him. She eventually accepts partnership with the Light God Society, though she attacks him again before leaving with Lin Wushuang 331 333.

During the Five Calamities operation, he is diverted by a surviving childhood abuser and loses valuable time torturing him. Upon returning, he deduces the Night Stars’ plan to kill Summer or Spring before the Society can summon the Ultimate. He helps organize Spring’s rescue and continues the mission after learning of Yuliu’s death 437 438 441 445 446 451.

He later persuades Meng Yuan to spend her life wishing for the Five Calamities to fuse, appealing to her desire to reunite with her younger sister 474.

Family Loss and Final Battle

Ye Yiqing senses Ye Ciqing’s death while racing toward him. He subsequently stands before his mother’s and brother’s corpses, then orders stronger defenses around the Tree of Terra and preparations along the Ultimate’s route 487 489 493.

He reaches Hela through a radiation zone that kills Lin Wushuang and Chi Jiu. Although his own body is disintegrating, he battles Han Xiaoxiao, Qian Lan, the ghost, and other attackers, eventually unleashing his tenth saber form. Han Xiaoxiao, Qian Lan, and Keke then work together to restrain him 506 507.

When Brown approaches, Ye Yiqing turns his katana on himself. He expresses his wish to remain a family with his mother and brother in another life, then cuts his throat 509.
