Wilt hadn't expected his luck to be so bad. He had casually traveled through dreams, only to stumble upon the site of Trissy's evil ritual.
Just as Wilt was preparing to escape through dreams again, Trissy reacted. An enraged voice rang out through the warehouse:
"Vincent!!!"
Trissy was furious. Not long ago, she had digested her Potion through the Alfalfa Tragedy. Later, while wrapping things up, she had encountered a man who called himself Vincent and briefly fought him.
Afterward, she had foolishly believed his lies. As a result, no sooner had she come ashore than the official Beyonders had followed the trail to her, before she'd even had time to enjoy herself. She had nearly fallen into their hands.
With nowhere else to turn, she had sought help from Madam Sharon, whose protection had allowed her to evade the official Beyonders. Afterward, she had also been forced to drink the Sequence 7 Witch Potion and become a woman.
The more Trissy thought about it afterward, the more she felt something was wrong. She had begun searching for the truth through divination, and after checking one possibility after another, she had finally traced the problem to her revolver.
Only then had Trissy realized that something might be wrong with Vincent, so she had asked Madam Sharon to confirm it. Madam Sharon had given her a clear answer: she didn't know the Vincent Trissy was talking about at all.
Trissy had thus learned what had happened: the man called Vincent had been lying to her from beginning to end. He had gained her trust and, after she left, had left the revolver on the Alfalfa. The official Beyonders had used it to track her down.
Upon learning the truth, Trissy had been furious. She had wanted to tear him to pieces to vent her anger, but there was nothing she could do.
From beginning to end, all Trissy had known was that there was a man called Vincent. She had known nothing else.
With nowhere to vent her anger, Trissy had chosen to take it out on the two survivors of the Alfalfa Tragedy. She had cursed one of them to death with black magic.
As for the last survivor, Joyce, Trissy had abducted his fiancée, Anna-the woman lying unconscious on the ground.
She had brought Anna to this abandoned warehouse in the suburbs, intending to use her as a sacrifice and medium to curse Joyce. But just as she finished preparing the ritual array, Wilt had suddenly appeared.
The sudden turn of events had startled Trissy. She had thought the official Beyonders had caught up with her.
Once Trissy got a clear look at Wilt, all the anger she had accumulated over the past week erupted:
"Vincent!!!"
She spat out the name through gritted teeth, then made her move.
"Whoosh! Whoosh!" She used the Witch's ability to manipulate Black Flame, sending two black flames capable of burning spirit bodies and Spirituality flying at Wilt. At the same time, she charged forward.
"Whoosh!" Trissy thrust her dagger at Wilt's heart.
Wilt: !!!
Seeing Trissy had been shocking enough for Wilt. When he heard her furious voice, he realized that what he had done had most likely come to light.
Just as Wilt was considering whether to keep deceiving Trissy, she attacked before he could even open his mouth.
"Steal!"
Using his monocle, Wilt instantly activated the Steal ability at the level of a Sequence 6 Fire Thief, directly stealing Trissy's Beyonder Ability to manipulate Black Flame.
With her ability stolen, the Black Flame Trissy had conjured instantly dispersed. Wilt, meanwhile, conjured two new balls of Black Flame and sent them at her.
"Whoosh! Whoosh!"
Trissy's eyes widened in disbelief as she saw the attacks flying toward her.
"Bang!" The black flames struck Trissy's body.
"Crack!" Trissy turned into a broken wand. At the last moment, she had used a wand substitute to dodge the attack.
The next instant, Trissy appeared behind Wilt. Her dagger was coated in frost conjured with a Witch's ability, and she stabbed it toward his heart from behind.
Wilt, however, seemed to have anticipated it. He, too, held a dagger in his right hand and turned to thrust it at her.
"Clang!" The two daggers collided.
"Crack! Crack!" Frost immediately spread along the daggers toward Wilt.
A glint of gold flashed in Wilt's eyes. "Frenzy!"
"Bang!" Another wand fell to the ground. Trissy had escaped again.
Wilt looked around but saw no sign of Trissy.
"Has she turned invisible?"
He pulled a revolver from his pocket and, relying on the Monster Pathway's extraordinary intuition, fired three shots in quick succession at a corner.
"Bang, bang, bang!!!"
"Crack!" It was the sound of a mirror breaking.
Wilt then saw Trissy gradually emerge beside the mirror, looking somewhat disheveled.
"Why?" Trissy asked Wilt, somewhat incredulous.
"Why could you see through my invisibility? And... why did my ability to manipulate Black Flame disappear?"
Wilt chuckled, but instead of answering Trissy, he said, "Tris... oh, no, I should call you Trissy now."
"I think there must be some misunderstanding between us. Why don't we talk honestly?"
"Misunderstanding! Do you take me for a fool?" Trissy declared that she absolutely would not believe Wilt's lies again.
"I've already asked Madam Sharon. She doesn't know you at all!"
"It's perfectly normal for Sharon not to know me. Her rank is too low," Wilt replied.
"You should ask her superior, Panatiya, or Katarina."
"Panatiya, Katarina?" Hearing those two names, Trissy looked confused.
"Who are they?"
Wilt adjusted his monocle and chuckled before continuing, "They're both demigods, high-ranking members of the Demoness Sect."
"Oh, right, you might not understand the connection. The Aurora Order you belong to now is a front for the Demoness Sect. Because you're very important to the Demoness Sect, I know about you."
Hearing this, Trissy looked puzzled. "I'm very important to the Demoness Sect?"
"That's right. But since it concerns a secret among the Demoness Sect's higher-ups, I can't tell you. I'm sure you'll understand in time."
Trissy was very dissatisfied with Wilt's answer.
"Fine, I'll believe you for now. But what about my revolver? You can give it back to me now, can't you?"
"As long as you return my revolver, I'll believe everything you say."
Wilt's movements suddenly paused, but he quickly recovered. "Your revolver, due to some unforeseen circumstances..."
Before Wilt could finish, another unexpected change occurred.
"Whoosh, whoosh, whoosh!!!"
Transparent, octopus-like tentacles reached out of the void and attacked Wilt and Trissy inside the warehouse.
Startled, both hurriedly dodged to the side, avoiding the attack.
"Boom!!!"
The ground shook violently from the attack.
Then the Beyonder creature that had attacked Wilt earlier appeared inside the warehouse. Its lower body was an octopus, its upper body was a skeleton, and it held a death god's scythe in its hand.
"How did it catch up?"
