The Strange Airdrop
Without Quirrell interfering in the match, Harry caught the first Golden Snitch of his life in his mouth, helping Gryffindor win.
With Ron leading the way, the Gryffindors were so excited they could have taken flight on the spot. Ron never noticed his phone screen switch itself off.
"I got it on video! Harry!!" Ron was so excited he nearly flung his phone away.
The Slytherins were miserable. Gryffindor had actually won? Impossible!!!
Wood was basking in the joy of victory. He had taken precautions and avoided being knocked out of the match by the Slytherins. Unfortunately, Angelina had been surrounded and failed to dodge in time, forcing her to leave the match. At least Harry had managed to capture the Golden Snitch.
The Slytherin captain glared at his team's Seeker, furious:
"Why couldn't you have held out a little longer?!"
Professor McGonagall was thrilled too. Gryffindor was finally going to turn things around. Harry truly was James's son! Talent ran in the family!
The celebrating Gryffindors were a stark contrast to the gloomy, dejected Slytherins. Draco watched the foolish lions reveling and silently made up his mind: Hmph! Just wait! I'll join the Quidditch team as soon as I'm in my second year! I'll crush you all!!!
"Harry! I got a video of you winning!!" Ron held up his phone, beaming. "I'm going to play it on a loop in front of those awful Slytherins!"
Fred and George leaned against their little brother Ron, one on either side. "That's the sort of thing we're supposed to do." "Congratulations on growing up, Ron!" Both of them wiped nonexistent tears from the corners of their eyes, deeply gratified.
Hermione, outside the crowd: ? How was that growing up?
Wood wondered whether Ron could really have gotten a clear shot from the stands.
Then everyone suggested going back to the common room to watch the video.
But Ron found that he couldn't get his phone to light up. He pressed the power button as usual, but the screen stayed black and nothing happened.
Of course recording a video for that long used up power. Besides, after all this time, if it hadn't used any power at all, it wouldn't have been a phone; it would have been a miracle.
Only then did everyone notice that there was a numbered progress bar on the page that appeared when the phone was turned on. Fred and George's phones were down to around twenty-five, while Hermione's still had half.
Harry didn't have much left either. They looked at their phones often, so the batteries drained quickly. Hermione the encyclopedia thought for a while and said, "Maybe it's the battery. A lot of things in the Muggle world run on electricity these days. Maybe it needs charging."
"This is why I told you to look at them less." Hermione rolled her eyes at their failure to live up to her expectations. "Now the battery's dead, but there's nowhere to charge it at Hogwarts."
"! Doesn't that mean I can't see the group messages?" Ron looked as if he'd been struck by lightning. His face fell, and he was utterly dejected. "Why does it need charging? Why didn't it come with instructions when it was sent to us...?"
Harry didn't quite dare use his phone for the moment. He was afraid his battery would die like Ron's.
"Come on, we don't even know who sent them!" Hermione said. Fred added, "So who did send them? Are we really the only ones who got something this good?"
In a sense, they were.
A third-year student whose parents were both Muggles suddenly raised a hand. "My parents work with Muggle electronics, and I've never seen anything like this either. But there should be a way to charge... this thing?"
George examined his phone from every angle. "Hey! There's a flat hole on the bottom. Maybe that's where you put the electricity in." George thought he was terribly clever.
Wood offered a new idea. "Why don't we ask the group what to do? They always have lots of solutions." He had benefited a great deal from the group in this Quidditch match, which was why the idea occurred to him.
But Fred immediately vetoed it:
"Wouldn't that make it obvious we don't know anything about this thing? We could easily give away who we are!"
Wood didn't understand. Wood was confused.
Over the next few days, Ron gradually sank into an emo mood, feeling utterly empty, like a high school student stuck at school without a phone to play with.
Harry couldn't bear to see his friend so dejected, so he tactfully asked the group about Ron's situation for him.
Wants to Make Friends: Um Wants to Make Friends: I have a friend, he's at school Wants to Make Friends: His phone's out of battery now, and the screen won't turn on Wants to Make Friends: How can I help him? Sweetheart of the Hogwarts Handsome Men: ? Huh As Long as My Name Is Long Enough Someone Will Read It: That situation? Are you boarding students? Wants to Make Friends: You could say that. Shi Man: ? Isn't that easy? Bug Ming: As long as you've got a power bank in hand! There's nothing to fear at school. Watermelon That Loves Eating Cats: www Just buy a power bank~ Green Apple Wholesale Market: Yes, exactly, a power bank and a charging cable Kerun: If there are any shops outside your school, you can sneak it into one to charge. Leave it there during class and pick it up after school Magpie: And that effectively keeps the teachers from finding it ✓ James-Brand Shampoo: ... James-Brand Shampoo: Looks like you've had yours confiscated plenty of times. Professor Snape Always: @Wants to Make Friends Does that help, bro? Wants to Make Friends: Ah, thanks!
A power bank? It sounded like something that could charge a phone anytime, anywhere, but how were they supposed to get one? Harry worriedly grabbed his hair.
Oh My Mother: Or, friend, give me your address and I'll just buy one and send it over www Mrs. Malfoy Number Two: Teacher Oh is as generous as ever... Bug Ming: Worshipping Oh My Mother: It's less than a hundred yuan, pretty cheap really www
Harry was even more shocked. A hundred yuan?! Were power banks that expensive?! Did he have enough money? Was a hundred yuan a hundred Galleons? Or a hundred pounds? Good heavens, the thing in his hand cost so much to keep using.
Daji's Muzi: True, compared to that, phones are more expensive. Old Voldy's Disfiguring Psychologist: True, they cost thousands /my wallet hurts Bug Ming: Hehe, I have a special source. I got a new-brand phone straight at wholesale price.
Thousands?!! Harry felt as though the phone in his hand had suddenly grown too hot to hold. So this thing was that expensive!!? But... a lot of them had been given their phones for free.
Who on earth was the person who had given them something so expensive?
A feeling of admiration rose in Harry's heart. The people in the group must all be very rich!
Could they have sent the phones? But they didn't know who he was.
The questions popping up in Harry's mind gradually strayed from what he had originally wanted to ask.
Hufflepuff's Great Food Thief: Damn it, I want to buy one at wholesale price too. @Bug Ming, teacher, please share your source!
Fred and George, lurking on the same phone in front of the screen, were shocked once again.
This thing was that expensive??
Their family had always been poor. There were a lot of children and a lot of expenses, yet this little square box was worth as much as their whole family had spent over most of their lives?!
What sort of divine being had just given them something like this? Their family even had three phones!!
Fred's attitude toward his phone instantly became reverent. The first thought that came to mind was that selling it would surely ease the burden on their family quite a bit, wouldn't it? Ginny wouldn't have to wear old robes when she started school next year.
But at the same time, he couldn't bear to part with such an interesting device.
Fred was torn.
George could tell what his brother was thinking, because they were both thinking the same thing.
"Don't agonize over it, bro. Nobody in the Wizarding World would want it," George said. Then he grinned and threw an arm around Fred's shoulders. "But we can wait until we're grown up! Sell it to those scientists in the Muggle world! We definitely wouldn't get much for it now. Some things just get more valuable the older they are!"
George felt he had mastered Muggle literature once again. Fred looked as though enlightenment had struck him. "You've got a point, George!"
But the only problem now was how to solve the phones' battery issue.
To save power, the brothers even shared one phone, planning to use the other once this one's battery died and its screen went black.
From the group chat just now, they had learned that they urgently needed something called a power bank to charge their phones.
The problem was, the thing hadn't even been invented yet.
Over in Hufflepuff, Cedric still had a considerable amount of battery power, and the same was true of Cho in Ravenclaw. Both had more than sixty percent left.
Another weekend Quidditch match arrived. Hufflepuff was playing Ravenclaw today, and although it wasn't their own houses playing, plenty of students from the other houses still came to cheer for the house they supported.
That included Cedric's fans from the other houses.
Ron came to watch the match in low spirits.
His phone running out of power seemed to have hit him hard.
It would have been fine if he'd never had a phone in the first place, but they had grown used to this way of life. Suddenly, Ron felt life had become dull and pointless.
Hermione suggested he read more books.
Ron: Good suggestion. Next time, don't suggest it.
The professors' phones still had plenty of power. After all, they were adults and knew how to exercise restraint, with the exception of a certain headmaster.
His phone screen had already gone dark yesterday.
But it didn't matter. For now, he knew everything he needed to know.
It was just a shame he couldn't see the children's unhinged comments. He rather enjoyed reading their discussions about his relationship with Gellert in the other group chat. Their analyses were all so convincing; they shipped the two of them harder than Rowling herself.
But they couldn't go back to the way things were. If he had become headmaster back then, perhaps he really would have invited him to be a professor or something...
Though with Gellert's personality, he wouldn't have agreed.
Dumbledore laughed aloud in his room.
If the people in the group could see him now, they would probably burst into tears and say:
Because Dumbledore was the one asking, he definitely would have agreed!!
Today was another day of sobbing over GGAD's achingly beautiful love.
Ahem, back to the subject.
Ron had no appetite for food or drink. Even chicken legs tasted like nothing in his mouth, and like nothing after he swallowed them. Eating a few more still didn't make them taste like anything.
But on that very day.
A familiar flock of owls flew in through the doors of the Great Hall, familiar parcels clutched in their talons.
"?"
Quite a few people thought another batch of students was about to receive those outrageously expensive phones that couldn't be bought anywhere. But! Once again, the parcels were dropped in front of the people everyone knew already had phones.
One hit Ron squarely on the head, leaving him dazed, because this parcel was much heavier than the one containing his phone last time.
Harry got one too. Hedwig was exhausted, and after delivering the parcel, she perched on Harry's shoulder to rest; Harry fed her a little something.
The parcels really did have some weight to them this time.
Once Ron recovered, he felt a flicker of anticipation. He thought the mysterious kind person had sent another phone.
He opened it to find a very large, heavy rectangular box lying inside a shipping carton about the same size as the last one. Beside it was a strangely familiar little note.
(Insert sound effect of Doraemon pulling out a gadget here) Dun! Dun↓ Dun↑ Dun→~ The super invincible freaking awesome power bank that lasts ages on a single bar!!! You! Are my treasure~
After Hermione opened her parcel and read the note, her emotions took a long time to settle.
After a long moment, Ron offered a heartfelt exclamation he had learned from the group:
"Freaking awesome-"
A cable was included too.
"So this is the legendary power bank?" Fred was stunned after opening his parcel, but he had an even bigger question: why had it arrived at just the right time? Was someone watching them after all?
Or was the person who gave them these things in the group?
But that didn't seem right.
Harry opened the group chat, wanting to see whether someone really had sent them the power banks.
Kerun: Family, anyone got any doujinshi? Your child's hungry and wants some meat. Magpie: You really shouldn't be eating that in the group. Proprietress Number Two: Add me for Weasley incest doujinshi~ [Proprietress Number Two has been muted by administrator Yan for half an hour] [Administrator] Yan: Ahem, discuss that sort of thing in your private fan groups. Don't spread it in the main group. Let me borrow one to talk about it. Sandwich Biscuit: The administrator who says that while muting someone is trash. Harry Marries Draco: Ahem, actually, I want to as well... Wants to Make Friends: Um, well... the problem's solved, thanks everyone Wants to Make Friends: That power bank you mentioned Wants to Make Friends: It fell out of the sky. Bug Ming: ? A Bai: ? Avada Gnaws at Math: ?? Kerun: ? Holy shit? GGAD Correspondence Collection: ? Dumbledore's Cavity: ?? An, an airdrop?
Ahem, in short, the battery problem was solved. Rejoice, rejoice~
Time for some brainless skits
Skit-⑤
Ron: Harry, my phone's dead. What do I do? (Pitifully hinting that he wants to play with Harry)
Harry: (Got it √ wrong) I'll ask the group what to do for you!
Ron: ?
"Good brothers" should be cultivated from childhood
Skit-⑥
Future Cedric was bombarded with frantic calls from the group members while entering the Triwizard Tournament
Fan number one: Ced, put that slip of paper down!!
Fan number two: Mommy won't let you enter!! (Hugs Ced's upper thigh and bursts into tears)
The fans clung to Ced's feet, legs, and even his underpants, keeping him from taking another step forward.
Cedric: /struggling to walk
