At dusk, the RV came to a stop in an open area.
Bulma got out, brought out her house, and went into the kitchen to start preparing dinner.
About half an hour later,
"Goku, dinner's ready! Stop training."
Goku heard Bulma's voice, opened his eyes, and stopped meditating.
When he stepped out of the RV, he found that Bulma had set up a large table in the clearing outside. It was covered with food, much of it made by Bulma herself.
"Yeah, coming."
Watching from the side, Oolong was green with envy. He didn't believe for a second that there was nothing going on between Bulma and Goku. Bulma looked like a bit of a pervert, going for someone so young.
He knew Bulma's family was the richest in the world. Damn it, Goku was so young, and he already didn't need to work hard anymore.
What did you call that? Qin Shi Huang touching a live wire-winning numb.
And what about him? He still had to rob people to make money, and it was easy to get caught. Wasn't he proof? He'd been caught and made to do hard labor.
At the thought, Oolong couldn't help shedding tears of envy.
"By the way, how are we sleeping tonight? There are three of us and only two beds."
Halfway through the meal, Oolong suddenly raised a question.
"Isn't it simple? I sleep in my bed, Goku sleeps in the bed in your RV, and you sleep on the RV's sofa."
Bulma answered almost instinctively, without even thinking.
"Huh?"
"What do you mean, 'huh'? You don't agree?" Bulma threatened.
"O-okay." Oolong's pig ears, which had been standing up, drooped.
What did you call that? Chen Rui touching a live wire-losing numb.
After dinner, Bulma tidied up and went back to her room to rest, while Goku and Oolong returned to the RV.
"Goku, you're training tonight too?"
Watching Goku start doing push-ups not long after entering the RV, Oolong couldn't help feeling a little helpless.
He was so strong and still worked so hard. How was someone like Oolong supposed to live?
Alas, as the saying goes, it's not others working hard that you have to fear, but someone stronger and more talented than you working even harder.
Life was hard, and Oolong sighed.
"Yeah. The more time I spend training, the faster I'll get stronger. Only when I'm strong enough can I protect what I want to protect!"
"Hey, hey, hey, don't make it sound so profound, okay? You're so young. Who do you want to protect? Bulma?"
Perhaps they had gotten a little more familiar over the past half day, because Oolong actually started teasing Goku.
In Oolong's eyes, Goku wasn't nearly as scary as Bulma. Goku probably wouldn't do anything over a little teasing.
"Just because there's no one now doesn't mean there won't be in the future."
"Oolong, do you want to train too? I can teach you how."
Hearing Goku ask whether he wanted to train, Oolong quickly shook his head.
"No, I'm not interested in training. I'm only interested in women, heh heh." At that, Oolong couldn't help letting out a few lecherous chuckles.
Goku felt that Oolong really was beyond help.
Just then, Goku sensed Yamcha and Puar's Ki and stopped training.
"Hey, Goku, why did you suddenly stop training?"
Oolong couldn't help feeling curious.
"Come outside with me. I'll take you to see an old acquaintance." Goku played the riddler for once.
"Huh? What old acquaintance?"
Though Oolong was puzzled, he still followed Goku outside.
"Lord Yamcha, are we really coming back again tonight? Didn't you say you couldn't beat that boy?"
Hearing Puar expose him so mercilessly, Yamcha couldn't help feeling annoyed.
"I can't beat him, but can't I use my brains to win?"
"Then what's your plan, Lord Yamcha?" Puar asked, a little puzzled.
"Heh heh, they have to sleep at night, right? Then, while they're asleep, I'll sneak some knockout powder into their rooms. Once they breathe it in, they'll be weak all over. Won't they be at my mercy then?"
"Wow, Lord Yamcha, you're amazing! What a great plan!" Puar couldn't help happily praising Yamcha.
"Crab-head boy, just you wait. I'll definitely get revenge for that slap!"
Yamcha couldn't help imagining himself hanging Goku up and slapping him over and over with both hands. Smack, smack, smack!
"Kekeke..."
"Oh no, Lord Yamcha's gone mad." Seeing Yamcha's foolish grin, Puar couldn't help growing sad.
"Oh? What was that about getting revenge for a slap?"
Suddenly, a voice reached Yamcha and Puar's ears.
"Who's there?"
Yamcha jumped in fright.
"Who do you think I am?"
Goku appeared right in front of Yamcha at a speed ordinary people could barely see.
"Ah!"
Startled, Yamcha fell to the ground and scrambled backward on all fours.
"N-n-no, I meant I wanted to deliver myself to you so you could slap me."
After recovering, Yamcha chose to follow his heart.
Fight him? How could he? Wouldn't fighting him be like Chen Rui stepping on a nail-definitely losing?
"Huh? Lord Yamcha, didn't you say..."
"Shut up!"
Seeing that Puar was about to expose him, Yamcha immediately cut him off.
"All right, I'll stop teasing you."
Seeing what a comical pair they were, Goku decided not to tease them any further.
"Then is there anything else you need? If not, I'll be going?"
"Don't be in such a hurry to leave!"
Seeing Yamcha inching away, trying to escape, how could Goku let him go?
"Is there anything else you need?"
"Let me ask you, do you want to get stronger?"
At Goku's words, Yamcha's eyes lit up.
"Yes, yes! Of course I want to get stronger!"
Yamcha had thought he was already strong enough, but Goku's slap earlier that day had knocked some sense into him.
"Come with us to find the Dragon Balls, and once we're done, I'll recommend you to Master Roshi for training. How about it?"
Yamcha was tempted by Goku's offer, but he was puzzled as to why Goku could recommend him to Master Roshi.
"Master Roshi, that martial arts master? Are you sure you can?"
"Of course, because I'm Master Roshi's disciple."
"What? Master Roshi's disciple?!"
Hearing that answer, Yamcha couldn't help feeling a little better.
He had lost to Master Roshi's disciple, so that was only to be expected.
He had even wanted revenge earlier. That was like carrying a lantern into a toilet-courting death!
"Well? Do you want to join us?"
"All right!" Yamcha gritted his teeth and made up his mind.
Goku helped Yamcha because Yamcha had also been one of the Z Fighters in the original story, and could even be considered Goku's junior brother. Mainly, though, Goku felt a little bad about slapping Yamcha so hard.
"But we can't provide you with a room. At most, we can offer you a sofa."
"Doesn't matter. I'll treat it as training before I become a disciple."
Yamcha looked as if there was no need to say more.
"Then you'll come in and sleep on the sofa?" Goku asked, his tone thirty percent questioning and seventy percent certain.
Even so, in the end, all four of them squeezed onto one bed.
