History

Founding and Central Province Connections

The Eight Gods Pavilion was jointly founded by seven Golden Core patriarchs and one Nascent Soul cultivator. Its founders came from the Central Province, and their substantial foundations enabled the sect to rise quickly. After training successors, they returned to the Central Province; the pavilion maintained contact and continued sending talented disciples there for experience 3 45.

A pillar on the central peak preserves a strand of sword intent left by one of the Golden Core founders. Zhao Qian tells new recruits that a previous genius successfully comprehended the sword through it 3.

Bai Junhao's Defection

While Song Qi was traveling in the Central Province, Cangsong accepted Su Mingyue and Bai Junhao as disciples. Bai Junhao's impatience to improve nearly caused Qi Deviation and damaged his meridians. Seeking a remedy, he challenged the Heavenly Buddha Temple's Buddhist son, wagering Cangsong's Nine Heavens Sword Instruction against the body-tempering technique Buddhist Vajra 45.

Bai Junhao won the duel and brought Buddhist Vajra back to the pavilion. Afterward, the Heavenly Buddha Temple announced that its Buddhist son had been crippled, while people within the pavilion spread rumors that Bai Junhao had suffered Qi Deviation. The temple rallied other sects to demand his execution; only the Clear Bathing Palace refused to join the pressure campaign 45.

The assembled immortal sects decided to strip Bai Junhao of his cultivation and permanently confine him to the pavilion. He escaped through a vortex opened by a token, and his defection to the demonic path became known the following day. The incident exposed a breach in the pavilion's defenses, prompting Cangsong to dismantle and replace every original barrier 46.

Song Qi's Leadership and Qin Yi's Recruitment

Song Qi returned from the Central Province and inherited leadership several decades before the war. He rarely fought afterward, but twenty years before the Azure Seclusion Plain battle, he destroyed the body of a demonic Nascent Soul Early Stage elder in ten moves 41.

Zhao Qian later recruited twelve children with Spirit Roots from the Qin Kingdom, including Qin Yi, Qin Shiyu, and Qin Peng. Further testing at the pavilion admitted Qin Shiyu and Qin Peng to the inner sect. Qin Yi, possessing Lightning-Fire Dual Spirit Roots, became Song Qi's final disciple 2 3 5.

Defeat at Falling Cloud City

The pavilion deployed nearly a thousand disciples for the war against the demonic path. During the night raid on Falling Cloud City, Qin Yi discovered and killed the traitor Ye Zhen. Su Mingyue reorganized the survivors and sent patrols after Qin Yi warned that infiltrators might exploit the confusion 37 41.

The sect lost nearly a hundred disciples in the initial attack, including a True Disciple whose interrupted breakthrough ended in fatal Qi Deviation. The survivors gathered at Azure Seclusion Plain, where demonic forces trapped the righteous sects inside the Heavenly Demon Great Array 38 40.

Qin Yi summoned Song Qi's strand of divine sense from Cangyuan. Song Qi gathered the battlefield's swords into a giant blade and shattered the array, allowing the righteous forces to retreat. Demonic cultivators pursued them for fifty li 41 43.

Reported Casualties

Category Losses
Disciples killed 512—more than half the pavilion's deployed disciples 41.
Disciples missing 64, presumed dead 41.
Foundation Establishment elders and deacons 23 killed; dozens wounded 41.
Golden Core elders Three gravely injured with damaged foundations; four lightly injured 41.

Ten-Year War Preparations

Song Qi challenged the demonic Holy Lord at the Sacred Altar, forcing a withdrawal and securing a ten-year ceasefire before a decisive battle. His intervention also made the other righteous sects more wary of the pavilion's strength 42.

After acknowledging its defeat, the pavilion opened its resources to help disciples prepare. Cangsong assigned Qin Yi the additional task of reaching Golden Core within ten years and leading the pavilion's disciples into the coming battle 42 46.

Su Mingyue warned that a high-ranking traitor had exposed the righteous path's movements and might belong to the pavilion itself. Meanwhile, Song Qi accelerated preparations by opening the Azure Dragon Secret Realm for a six-month trial 43 47 48.

Territory and Facilities

Location Features
Eight peaks The sect occupies eight towering peaks reached through a token-opened spatial fissure. Cranes, giant eagles, and other flying creatures circle the mountains 3.
Main peak Named Purple Tuberose in Song Qi's initial explanation; later passages use Purple Myrtle Peak. It houses the leadership's meeting place and has the pavilion's densest Spiritual Qi 5 44 45.
Seven surrounding peaks Tianshu, Tianxuan, Tianji, Tianquan, Yuheng, Kaiyang, and Yaoguang, named after seven stars 5.
Jade Balance Peak Houses the sect's spirit beasts and mount-rental station. A personal disciple token allows Qin Yi to select a mount from the back mountain 8.
Qin Yi's bamboo grove A wooden residence enhanced by Song Qi's top-grade Three Talents Spirit Gathering Formation. Its teleportation token functions only within the pavilion 5 45.
Hui Mountain branch Handles assignments and provides a point of contact for traveling disciples, including Qin Yi's hunting missions under Deacon Qian 7 10.

Cultivation and Resources

Recruitment and Training

  • Recruitment begins with testing for Spirit Roots; a second array-based examination at the pavilion identifies elemental affinities and determines placement 2 3.
  • Triple Spirit Roots qualify Qin Shiyu and Qin Peng for the inner sect, while Qin Yi's Dual Spirit Roots attract the pavilion master's personal instruction 3 5.
  • Documented disciple categories include outer, inner, True, and personal disciples 5 36 38.
  • Training includes instruction from senior disciples, beast-hunting assignments outside the sect, and secret-realm trials 7 10 48.
  • Personal disciples can receive substantial support: Qin Yi has no shortage of cultivation pills, unlike Zheng Yuan, who cannot afford a Foundation Establishment Pill 12 36.

Techniques and Treasures

  • Sword-intent pillar — Preserves a founding master's sword intent for disciples to study 3.
  • Cultivation methods offered by Song Qi — Extreme Thunder Divine Fire Instruction, Nine Nether Profound Asura Instruction, and Blazing Yang Thunder Asura Scripture; all are described as supporting cultivation to Nascent Soul 5.
  • Buddhist Vajra — Body-tempering technique brought back by Bai Junhao and later taught to Qin Yi to strengthen his meridians 6 45.
  • Flame Cloud Fruits — Distributed to Qin Yi during postwar preparations. Red fruit refines spiritual power and improves fire control; cyan fruit supplies abundant Spiritual Qi to help overcome bottlenecks 43 46.
  • Defensive barriers — Rebuilt entirely by Cangsong after Bai Junhao's escape revealed that demonic forces had breached the original defenses 46.

Secret Realms

The pavilion possesses four secret realms; two are named in the available account 47.

Secret realm Known details
Black Tortoise Secret Realm Lan Xuan secured its inheritance and more than half its resources. Its opening occurred less than five years before the Azure Dragon trial 47.
Azure Dragon Secret Realm According to pavilion records, a training ground created by an Azure Dragon sacred beast, likely at Spirit Transformation. More than a hundred inner disciples and dozens of personal disciples enter for six months; harming fellow disciples is expressly forbidden 48.

External Relations

  • Qin Kingdom — A recruitment source whose emperor receives the pavilion's envoy and sends eligible imperial children for testing 1 2.
  • Clear Bathing Palace — The only sect that refused to join the pressure campaign against Bai Junhao. Su Mingyue's elder sister is an elder there, and Song Qi previously won the affection of its young palace master 38 41 45.
  • Heavenly Buddha Temple — A wartime ally with a bitter history: its campaign against Bai Junhao helped precipitate his defection 42 45 46.
  • Demonic path — Principal wartime enemy. Its Left Protector, Bai Junhao, is Cangsong's former disciple; its Holy Lord agrees to the ten-year ceasefire after Song Qi's challenge 41 42 45.
