Ch. 1The Qin Kingdom's Imperial Family, Young Qin Yi

Qin Yi learned that an immortal envoy would test children for Spirit Roots, and his father warned him that entering the cultivation world meant leaving the Qin Kingdom and facing a brutal struggle. Three days later, the envoy arrived and the children gathered for the test, which had not yet begun when the Emperor of Qin appeared.

  • Prince Qing warned Qin Yi that finding a Spirit Root would send him away from his family and into the dangerous cultivation world, and Qin Yi resolved to face whatever came.
  • Qin Yi looked up at the night sky after leaving the ancestral hall and asked whether his dead mother’s spirit would watch over him; Qin Peng was also summoned by his father.
  • Zhao Qian of the Eight Gods Pavilion flew into the imperial city and told the Emperor of Qin that he had come to recruit disciples.
  • Qin Yi, Qin Peng, Qin Shiyu, and the other children assembled at the martial training ground, where Qin Yi assured Qin Shiyu they would be selected.

  • Zhao Qian arrived on a giant gray eagle and ordered the youths to prepare to depart.

Ch. 3Eight Gods Pavilion, Spirit Root Testing

Qin Yi and the other children arrived at the Eight Gods Pavilion, where the Grand Elder began testing their Spirit Roots. Qin Shiyu and Qin Peng qualified for the inner sect, while Qin Yi’s test had not yet taken place.

  • Zhao Qian shielded the children as the giant eagle flew to the Eight Gods Pavilion and passed through a spatial fissure into the sect.
  • Zhao Qian showed the children a pillar containing a strand of sword intent, but Qin Yi could not perceive anything from it.
  • The Grand Elder arrived with two other figures and announced that Spirit Root testing would determine the children’s fate.
  • Zhao Qian activated a six-pointed star array and called the children to enter it one at a time.
  • Qin Shiyu revealed Water, Fire, and Earth Triple Spirit Root and qualified for the inner sect.
  • Qin Peng revealed Metal, Fire, and Wood Triple Spirit Root and also qualified for the inner sect.

  • Qin Yi entered the testing array and was found to have Lightning-Fire Dual Spirit Roots, earning eligibility to become a personal disciple.
  • The Grand Elder approached Qin Yi, but an old man arriving on a black ox interrupted and argued that Qin Yi should join the inner sect.

  • A token summoned Qin Yi to the great hall, where the Pavilion Master and the gathered experts met him.
  • The Pavilion Master ruled that Qin Yi could choose any of them, and Qin Yi asked whether he could choose anyone present.

Ch. 5Taking the Pavilion Master as His Master and Choosing a Cultivation Method

Qin Yi became the pavilion master's final disciple and was brought to his new residence on Purple Tuberose Peak. After explaining three cultivation methods suited to Qin Yi's Lightning-Fire Dual Spirit Roots, the pavilion master let him choose one, and Qin Yi made his decision.

  • The pavilion master named Qin Yi his final disciple, and Qin Yi knelt to acknowledge him as Master.
  • The pavilion master told Qin Yi about his senior sister, Lan Xuan, and the strength and eight peaks of the Eight Gods Pavilion.
  • The pavilion master brought Qin Yi to a bamboo grove residence and gave him a token to teleport there from within the sect.
  • The pavilion master described the Extreme Thunder Divine Fire Instruction, the Nine Nether Profound Asura Instruction, and the Blazing Yang Thunder Asura Scripture, warning Qin Yi not to switch methods before mastering one.
  • After seeing a flash of lightning near one of the Jade Slips, Qin Yi told the pavilion master that he had chosen.

Ch. 6Blazing Yang Thunder Asura, the Weapon Cangyuan

Qin Yi chose the Blazing Yang Thunder Asura Scripture, began cultivating, and received the spear Cangyuan from his master, Song Qi. After Song Qi left him several martial techniques and set him the goal of reaching Foundation Establishment before twenty, Qin Yi went to cultivate.

  • Qin Yi received the incomplete Blazing Yang Thunder Asura Scripture and successfully drew Qi into his body, reaching Qi Refining First Layer.

  • Qin Yi challenged Lan Xuan to spar, and she defeated him after he surprised her with Cangyuan and lightning and flame attacks.
  • Lan Xuan assessed Qin Yi's combat ability and warned him to be ruthless with enemies and avoid meddling in others' affairs.
  • Song Qi summoned Qin Yi and Lan Xuan to the cabin after Qin Yi raced Lan Xuan there and lost.
  • Song Qi allowed Qin Yi to descend the mountain, visit his father, and then obtain three first-tier missions and one second-tier mission at Hui Mountain.
  • Qin Yi agreed to complete the missions within six months and said he would prepare to leave the next day.

  • Qin Yi arrived at Prince Qing's residence and learned from Li Zixian that his father had died.

  • Qin Yi visited his father's study and his own preserved bedroom, where he found a letter in a wooden box beneath his bed.

Ch. 9Prince Qing's Last Wish, Severing Mortal Ties

After reading Prince Qing’s farewell letter, Qin Yi mourned his father at the imperial mausoleum and entrusted Prince Qing’s residence to Li Zixian. He left the Qin Kingdom for Hui Mountain, resolved to make the Eight Gods Pavilion his home and enter the cultivation world without looking back.

Ch. 10The Mission Begins, Pursuing the Prey

Qin Yi reached Hui Mountain and learned that Song Qi had assigned him dangerous hunts in the Blood-Colored Forest and ordered him to obtain a Foundation Establishment Pill. After trading for Worry-Free Fruit, Qin Yi prepared to enter the forest the next day to hunt a Golden-Horned Rhinoceros.

  • Qin Yi arrived at Hui Mountain after making the journey from the imperial capital in twenty-one days.
  • Qin Yi accepted a Jade Slip from Deacon Qian and heard Song Qi’s instructions to hunt a Golden-Horned Rhinoceros, two Nine-Eyed Demon Spiders, and a Silver Moon Wolf King, then obtain a Foundation Establishment Pill at the auction in three months.
  • Qin Yi searched the market and traded three Qi Guiding Pills for ten Worry-Free Fruits to attract Golden-Horned Rhinoceroses.
  • Qin Yi returned to the inn, planned to enter the Blood-Colored Forest the next day, and practiced the Blazing Yang Thunder Asura Scripture.

Ch. 11Those Who Ruined His Plans, Mercilessly Slain

Qin Yi found and killed the Golden-Horned Rhinoceros after two cultivators interrupted his poisoned-fruit trap. When they threatened him with a Foundation Establishment cultivator, he killed them too and left the scorched clearing.

  • Qin Yi searched the Blood-Colored Forest for three days before spotting the Golden-Horned Rhinoceros and laying Worry-Free Fruits smeared with Soul-Bewildering Powder in its path.
  • A man and a woman startled the rhinoceros before it ate the fruit, and the man fought it until it wounded him and overwhelmed the woman’s defense.
  • Qin Yi hurled Cangyuan into the Golden-Horned Rhinoceros, then killed it with a spear thrust through its skull and stored its corpse.
  • The woman demanded the rhinoceros and threatened Qin Yi with her father, who was in the Foundation Establishment Realm.
  • Qin Yi killed both cultivators with his lightning-wreathed spear, burned their bodies, searched their Storage Bags, and departed.

Ch. 12Demon Spider Clue, the Li Household of Banyan City

Qin Yi learned of a Nine-Eyed Demon Spider near the Blood-Colored Forest’s inner region and joined a hunting team to reach it. The Li Household of Banyan City revealed the team’s real task—hunting a newly Foundation Establishment demon tree—and Qin Yi suspected their plan hid something.

  • Qin Yi asked Jin Peng at the Eight Treasures Pavilion for information about a Nine-Eyed Demon Spider, and Jin Peng directed him to a hunting team gathering at the Nine Separations Colosseum.
  • Qin Yi cultivated at the inn for three days, then joined the team after frightening its recruiter with a flame.
  • At the Nine Separations Colosseum, Qin Yi assessed the other team members and noticed that one woman’s cultivation was beyond his perception.
  • An elder from the Li Household of Banyan City said the team would hunt a Foundation Establishment Realm demon tree and retrieve its tree heart.
  • Qin Yi doubted the explanation because the Li Household’s Foundation Establishment elder could apparently hunt the tree himself, but he kept quiet because he wanted to find the Nine-Eyed Demon Spider.
  • Li Ze, a Foundation Establishment elder of the Li Household, took charge and ordered the team to set out.

Ch. 13Testing the Woman, Luring the Demon Spiders to Their Deaths

Qin Yi lured two Nine-Eyed Demon Spiders into the group’s path to test the woman’s strength, revealing that she had been hiding Foundation Establishment-level cultivation. After the spiders killed two cultivators, Li Ze ordered the survivors to restore their strength and fight the tree demon without holding back the next day.

  • Qin Yi secretly scattered Beast Soul Incense powder to draw two Nine-Eyed Demon Spiders after the group.
  • Qin Yi and the others fought the spiders, and Qin Yi redirected one toward the woman’s battlefield to see her reveal her strength.
  • The spiders killed a ninth-layer Qi Refining cultivator and an eighth-layer Qi Refining cultivator before Li Ze and Qin Yi helped kill them.
  • Li Ze led the survivors away and ordered them to rest in a cave until the sky darkened.
  • Li Ze warned the group to give everything in the fight against the tree demon the next day or he would kill anyone who held back.

Ch. 14A Woman's Sneak Attack, Li Ze's Death

Qin Yi and the others helped Li Ze fight a second-tier Ghost Willow, but a woman betrayed Li Ze after he weakened the demon and killed him for the Xie Household. She took the tree heart and Li Ze’s Storage Bag, then let Qin Yi and the two survivors leave, though a compass revealed she was tracking them.

  • Li Ze led Qin Yi and the others to the Ghost Willow and unleashed a sword talisman treasure to wound it.
  • The Ghost Willow killed Brother Hang, and another cultivator froze its branches while Li Ze prepared his decisive attack.
  • Li Ze used Wind Falls from the Nine Heavens to sever most of the Ghost Willow’s trunk, then approached to take its tree heart.
  • The woman stabbed Li Ze and admitted that the Xie Household had paid her a hundred thousand Spirit Stones to kill him.
  • The woman took the tree heart and Li Ze’s Storage Bag, then allowed Qin Yi and the other two survivors to leave.
  • After the three fled, the woman used a compass showing their positions and considered which one to kill first.

Ch. 15The Assassin Huamei, the Demoness Slain by a Formation

Qin Yi trapped Huamei with the Star-Binding Formation, tortured her for answers, and killed her after identifying her as an assassin from Seven Shas Valley. He collected her belongings and left with valuable spoils, planning to try to break through to Great Perfection.

  • Qin Yi waited in the woods until Huamei followed him, then caught her in the Star-Binding Formation and sealed her spiritual power.
  • Qin Yi tortured Huamei until she answered his questions and gave her name as Huamei, claiming she was a Rogue Cultivator.
  • Huamei offered Qin Yi her Spirit Stones in exchange for her freedom, but Qin Yi stabbed her after recognizing her as an assassin from Seven Shas Valley.
  • Qin Yi found Huamei's token, compass, and Storage Bag, burned her corpse, and gathered his other spoils.
  • Qin Yi reflected on his gains and his chance to break through to Great Perfection, then left cautiously.

Ch. 16The Auction, Deep-Sea Sunken Silver

Qin Yi learned that the Eight Treasures Pavilion’s auction would include a Foundation Establishment Pill, then secluded himself and reached Qi Refinement Great Perfection before it began. He arrived at the pavilion with deep-sea sunken silver to auction, and Jin Peng was ready to share news about the Silver Moon Wolf King.

  • Qin Yi returned to Hui Mountain, learned the auction was two months away, and suspected the early announcement of a Foundation Establishment Pill was meant to complicate Song Qi’s task.
  • Qin Yi gave Jin Peng a voice transmission talisman for Deacon Qian and asked him to find the Silver Moon Wolf King’s whereabouts.
  • Qin Yi secluded himself with Spirit Gathering Pills and broke through to Qi Refinement Great Perfection after two months.
  • Qin Yi bought a pitch-black stone for fifty Spirit Stones, recognizing it as deep-sea sunken silver, a material for refining Law Treasures.
  • Qin Yi gave the deep-sea sunken silver to Jin Peng as his auction item, and Jin Peng told him he had obtained news about the Silver Moon Wolf King.

Ch. 17News of the Wolf King, the Foundation Establishment Pill Appears

After learning that a Silver Moon Wolf King was hunting in the Blood-Colored Forest, Qin Yi prepared to pursue it while consolidating his cultivation and attending the Eight Treasures Pavilion auction. He bought a Nine Dragons Illusory Cloud Robe, and the auction ended the chapter by presenting a Foundation Establishment Pill before its promised final item.

  • Jin Peng told Qin Yi that a Silver Moon Wolf King and its pack were roaming the southwest of the Blood-Colored Forest, then gave him a second-floor auction invitation from Deacon Qian.
  • Qin Yi returned to the inn to consolidate his cultivation and consider how to hunt the wolf king, then went to the auction three days later.
  • A maid led Qin Yi to a private second-floor room, where he learned that only Foundation Establishment cultivators were attending the auction.
  • Qin Yi ordered the maid to bid 2,500 Spirit Stones for the Nine Dragons Illusory Cloud Robe and added it to his Storage Bag.
  • You Yu presented a Foundation Establishment Pill as the second-to-last item, surprising the crowd and the Foundation Establishment cultivators who had expected it to be the finale.

Ch. 18Casting the Bait, Suffering Betrayal

Qin Yi won a Foundation Establishment Pill at auction and used Deep-Sea Sunken Silver to distract the Foundation Establishment cultivators so he could escape. At the Eight Treasures Pavilion’s back exit, Jin Peng ambushed him and revealed that he had joined forces with Elder Li.

  • Qin Yi outbid the other buyers and purchased the Foundation Establishment Pill for eleven thousand Spirit Stones.
  • You Yu revealed that Deep-Sea Sunken Silver could help a Golden Core Stage cultivator forge a Law Treasure, drawing the Foundation Establishment cultivators into a bidding war.
  • Qin Yi left the auction and followed Jin Peng through the Eight Treasures Pavilion’s back tunnel to Hui Mountain’s boundary with the Blood-Colored Forest.
  • Jin Peng attacked Qin Yi with a talisman, but Qin Yi survived with Cangyuan and his glowing jade pendant.
  • Jin Peng admitted that Elder Li would kill Qin Yi and accused him of living better while Jin Peng had to curry favor with others.
  • Elder Li emerged from the darkness, and Qin Yi threatened Jin Peng with torture for betraying him.

Ch. 19The Helper Departs, Death by a Thousand Cuts

Qin Yi convinced Elder Li that the Xie Household was responsible for Li Ze’s death, and Elder Li left Jin Peng bound in Qin Yi’s custody. Qin Yi tortured Jin Peng to death, burned his body, and reflected that steadfastness mattered more than whether he was called a demon.

  • Qin Yi told Elder Li that Li Ze had been killed by a woman from the team and had blamed the Xie Household before dying.
  • Elder Li believed a traitor had exposed the Li Household’s plans, gave Qin Yi a token, and bound Jin Peng for Qin Yi to deal with.
  • After Elder Li departed, Qin Yi dragged Jin Peng into the Blood-Colored Forest and inflicted one thousand and eight cuts on him, keeping him alive with pills and salt water.
  • Qin Yi severed Jin Peng’s limbs, beheaded him, and burned his corpse.
  • Qin Yi dismissed Jin Peng’s accusation that he was a demon and questioned whether pursuing power made anyone truly a demon.

Ch. 20Seeking the Wolf King, Meeting a "Good Man" on the Road

Qin Yi encountered Lang Ya in the Blood-Colored Forest and tricked him into helping hunt the Silver Moon Wolf King by inventing a Foundation Establishment elder. They reached the wolf pack’s territory after three days, and Qin Yi secretly set something in motion as Lang Ya waited for the nonexistent elder.

  • Qin Yi watched Lang Ya battle a giant striped tiger, then used talismans to help the beast escape when it attacked him.
  • Qin Yi claimed to be Xie Wuhui and invented a Foundation Establishment elder, persuading Lang Ya to hunt the Silver Moon Wolf King with him.
  • Qin Yi and Lang Ya traveled southwest through the Blood-Colored Forest for three days until Lang Ya detected the wolf pack on a barren plain.
  • Qin Yi stalled Lang Ya by claiming the elder had been delayed, then secretly released dust from his Storage Bag while pretending to draw a sword.

Ch. 21"Good People" Die Young, the Wolf King Secured

Qin Yi and Lang Ya were surrounded by a wolf pack, and Qin Yi manipulated Lang Ya into fighting the Silver Moon Wolf King while he drew away the wolves. After the wolf king and Lang Ya fell, Qin Yi killed the remaining wolves and collected the wolf king’s corpse.

  • Qin Yi pretended to be alarmed when Lang Ya discovered that wolves had surrounded them, then urged Lang Ya to attack the wolf king while he drew off the pack.
  • Qin Yi used lightning, fire, and talismans to escape the wolves’ encirclement as Lang Ya confronted the Silver Moon Wolf King with Explosive Flame Pearls and his Heaven-Surging Flames technique.
  • Lang Ya wounded the wolf king and pursued it, while Qin Yi led the pack toward him and called for help.
  • The wolf king struck Lang Ya with an icicle, and Qin Yi’s lightning-wreathed spear pierced both the wolf king’s neck and Lang Ya’s chest.
  • Qin Yi summoned lightning to drive away the surviving wolves, stored the wolf king’s corpse, and told Lang Ya that he had killed him to protect himself.

Ch. 22Do You Think I'm Stupid?

Qin Yi collected the proceeds from his Deep-Sea Sunken Silver and stopped in Star City, where Song Qingyun recruited him to kill his elder brother in exchange for access to a secret realm. Qin Yi accepted the deal and was given Zhang Ningrong for the night.

  • Qin Yi collected eighteen thousand Spirit Stones from Qian Jin for the auction of his Deep-Sea Sunken Silver.

  • Song Qingyun offered Zhang Ningrong to Qin Yi as a reward.

Ch. 23The Eighteenth Birthday Coming-of-Age Ceremony

  • Qin Yi told Zhang Ningrong she had been given to him, and he kept her with him for three days.
  • Zhang Ningrong asked Qin Yi to help kill Song Qingyun, but he said she had to obey him as his maid.
  • Qin Yi agreed with Song Qingyun to strike at Song Yunfeng after the City Lord left with most of the experts.
  • Qin Yi poisoned Song Yunfeng with powder from a Nine-Colored Illusion Spider and gave Song Qingyun an antidote.
  • Qin Yi warned Song Qingyun to prepare to purge the manor, then left Star City with Zhang Ningrong.

Ch. 24Mundane Affairs Settled, Returning to the Sect

  • Qin Yi killed Zhang Ningrong after she tried to use him to kill Song Qingyun.
  • Song Yunfeng and everyone in his courtyard died from poison, and Song Qingyun learned that Qin Yi had left a letter promising to return in one year.

  • Qin Yi returned to the Eight Gods Pavilion and presented Song Qi with three Demon Beast corpses and a box of Foundation Establishment Pills.
  • Song Qi instructed Qin Yi to achieve Perfect Foundation Establishment in seclusion, while Lan Xuan was away tempering herself.

Ch. 25Breaking Through to Foundation Establishment, Returning to Star City

Qin Yi broke through to Foundation Establishment, strengthened his Divine Sense, and returned to Star City to meet Song Qingyun about their secret-realm agreement. Song Qingyun said the arrangements would take another month, leaving Qin Yi displeased.

  • Qin Yi used a Foundation Establishment Pill and spent more than half a year breaking through the barrier.
  • Qin Yi opened his Divine Sense to thirty zhang, and Song Qi removed one layer of Cangyuan's seal and gave him the White Visage mask.
  • Qin Yi returned to Star City in disguise and heard a storyteller recount Song Yunfeng's death and Song Qingyun's confinement.
  • Qin Yi visited Song Qingyun at the city lord's manor and asked about the secret-realm arrangements.
  • Song Qingyun told Qin Yi the arrangements would take another month, and Qin Yi's expression darkened.
