Background and History
Earth and the Journey to the Big Dipper
Ye Fan had graduated from university and owned a Mercedes-Benz before leaving Earth. His family had also arranged a fiancée for him. During a gathering with his classmates on Mount Tai, nine dragon corpses descended with an ancient bronze coffin, beginning their journey to the Big Dipper Star Domain 7 410.
Su Yu protected Ye Fan’s parents before the departure, intending to earn his future gratitude. He also saved Ye Fan on Mars from the demon beneath the Great Thunderclap Temple. These actions became important foundations of Ye Fan’s trust in him 7 42.
Early Cultivation and the Sacred Body
At Spirit Ruins Paradise, Ye Fan’s constitution brought more hostility than support. Elder Wu Qingfeng treated him kindly, but Elder Han wanted to refine him into a divine pill. Ye Fan eventually killed Elder Han with a jade pendant and used his stockpile to cultivate 42 82.
Ye Fan attempted to become Su Yu’s disciple by offering two Green Copper pieces and the golden page of the Dao Scripture. Su Yu declined, gave him another copper fragment, and explained that his cultivation difficulties came from the Desolate Ancient Sacred Body 45.
Yaoguang Holy Land, the Ji Family, and the Jiang Family later forced Ye Fan and several classmates into the Desolate Ancient Forbidden Land to gather medicine. Although he escaped his restraints, he climbed a sacred mountain to protect the others. Time Dao principles drained his vitality, and the Tianxuan Saintess nearly killed him before Su Yu intervened. Three Sacred Fruits restored his youthful appearance 88 89.
The Mother Qi Cauldron and the Northern Region
Inside the Bronze Immortal Palace, Ye Fan used Green Copper to try to collect Black and Yellow Qi. Instead, the exceptionally valuable Xuanhuang Mother Qi Source Root rushed toward the fragment. His possession of this material and the resulting cauldron made him a target for major powers 94 140 175.
In the Holy City, his Source Arts brought both wealth and notoriety. He cut Divine Mark Purple Gold and a purple dragon cub from stones, then earned enough Source through further stone gambling to advance his cultivation. The Peacock King protected him from attackers and refused the Ji Family’s demands to surrender him 140 142 149.
His opportunities also multiplied outside the city. After helping a wounded fairy with a Sacred Fruit and the God-Striking Whip, he received the Battle Secret and had his Purple Jade Divine Gourd reforged into a Saint Dao forbidden weapon. He subsequently used his treasures to capture the Yaoguang Holy Son and obtain a Saint’s inheritance 166.
Four Extremes Breakthrough and the Immortal Sword
Despite years of being dismissed as a crippled body, Ye Fan remained determined to cultivate and return to his parents. Su Yu arranged substantial Source support for his Four Extremes breakthrough; the Ji Family and Ancient Hua also offered assistance. Ye Fan rejected the safer option of remaining within a single secret realm 187 200.
Following events in the Desolate Ancient Forbidden Land, he encountered the Ruthless Empress and insisted that his present identity remained Ye Fan, even after experiencing another person’s life. He emerged with incomplete memories and an ancient bronze sword that Xiao Nannan had found 231.
Ji Yanyun and Ji Yanming subsequently ambushed him, drained his Sacred Body origin, and used Xiao Nannan as leverage. When the Void Mirror attacked the child, the bronze sword emerged independently and shattered its attack. Su Yu later explained that the blade was an immortal artifact whose full power exceeded Ye Fan’s ability to wield 232 254.
Return Home and the Starry Sky Ancient Road
Ye Fan’s wish to see his parents led him to seek routes between star domains. Shi Ming supplied Stone Tokens after learning his purpose, and Ye Fan eventually returned to Earth. He found both parents alive and met seven sisters and his younger brother Ye Yu, presenting the family with cultivation treasures 402 403 413 419.
After ten years of cultivation in the Kunlun Star Domain, he became a Dao-Slaying King and joined the Kunxu lineage as Heavenly Pivot Palace Master. On the Human Race Ancient Road, he exposed a counterfeit enforcer working with the Yan Clan, broke their formation, and killed their Saint King 423 461.
His family’s rise also created obligations. Ye Fan investigated his father’s second household and learned how Zhi Ji’s family had coerced him into becoming a live-in son-in-law. He did not despise his half-brothers’ mixed bloodline, but condemned Zhi Ji’s treatment of their father 640 642.
Dao Attainment and the Ye Family
Ye Fan defeated the Golden-Winged Little Peng King beyond the Big Dipper Star Domain, although the latter’s final forbidden technique pushed their battle to a dangerous conclusion. He later defeated his own daughter Ye Zi while she was disguised as Vermilion Bird Maiden 669 701.
After attaining the Dao, he became Heavenly Lord Ye rather than taking the title of emperor. His family grew into a foremost clan, but he personally punished its corruption, including executing two nephews. He was also deeply upset to discover Ye Zi’s marriage to Su Yu, whom he regarded as her elder 711.
A thousand years later, Ye Fan challenged Su Yu and was defeated with a single finger. Su Yu urged him to turn his attention toward longevity and the immortal path. Much later, the main-spacetime Ye Fan is shown cultivating in the Immortal Domain with his companion, descendants, relatives, and old friends still alive 711 827.
Alternate Temporal Branch
Ji Ziyue’s Death and Revenge
In this branch, a curse in the Ji Family’s imperial blood kills Ji Ziyue despite Ye Fan’s healing secret art and Immortal Medicine. Her body turns to dust. The loss transforms him: as he grows stronger, his former warmth gives way to an increasingly merciless pursuit of revenge 819.
As a Great Accomplishment Sacred Body, he joins Yin Tiande, Taichu, Yaoguang, Jin Chanzi, and other experts against the Tribulation Emperor. He fights with the Six Paths of Reincarnation Fist, the All Secret, and the Immortal Sword, but witnesses the destruction of old companions during the confrontation 819 820.
Loneliness, Immortality, and Dark Ye Fan
Ye Fan later discovers that the Tribulation Emperor entered the Immortal Domain with his mother and died during an Immortal King Tribulation. After searching ruined Life Source Lands, he finds the emperor’s corpse and spends a hundred years in mourning. Part of an immortal scripture gives him a new objective: become immortal and recover everything he has lost 823.
He initially rejects the Immortal Sacrifice Method and achieves a second life through a small immortal world. A later failed renewal leaves his Immortal Platform damaged and his lifespan insufficient to await the Road to Immortality. He seals himself, still unwilling to abandon his promises to the dead 823 824.
His eventual rise as Dark Ye Fan is sustained by harvesting the universe’s living beings. He proves his Dao, unites seven Reincarnation Seals, and fights through opposition from Mortal World Immortals. Exhausted by successive tribulations and battles, he is then overwhelmed by Emperor Zun, who seeks to refine his immortal Dao Fruit; an intervening hand repels Emperor Zun at the critical moment 825 826.
Appearance
- Hair and complexion: Usually depicted with black hair; during his Four Extremes breakthrough attempt, he wears spotless white robes and has translucent, glass-like skin 209.
- Sacred Body traits: Golden blood Qi and a golden Bitter Sea are recurring visible manifestations of his constitution 44 157 232.
- Source Arts disguise: Temporarily alters his features, build, and presence, appearing heavier and round-faced while traveling in worn clothing 82.
- Aged alternate self: Has gray-white hair, a weathered bronze face, and a worn Daoist robe after exhausting his life essence 824.
Personality
Ye Fan is persistent without being blindly reckless. He cultivates for six years under the stigma of possessing a crippled body and refuses to abandon the Four Extremes breakthrough even when warned that failure could destroy his prospects. At the same time, he recognizes opponents beyond his ability and actively seeks escape routes and protection 91 187 200 402.
He takes gratitude and personal responsibility seriously. He gives Divine Mark Purple Gold to repay the Peacock King’s protection, worries that his enemies will endanger the Chaos Palace, and repeatedly risks himself for companions. His longing to return to his parents remains a central motive throughout his early cultivation 121 142 187.
He judges relatives by conduct rather than ancestry. He considers helping his half-brothers improve their bloodlines and explicitly regards low birth as no disgrace, yet later punishes the Ye family’s abuses even when doing so means killing his own nephews 642 711.
The alternate branch sharply changes this disposition. Ji Ziyue’s death drives him toward revenge, and prolonged isolation eventually leads him to understand the desperation of the Forbidden Zone Supremes he once opposed 819 824.
