Background / History
Friendship with Wang Xiaoming
Rongrong befriends Wang Xiaoming because he treats her normally rather than showing the fear or deference she receives from other children in the sect. She accompanies him to his Martial Soul Awakening, sincerely hoping he will gain a combat-type Martial Soul and enough Soul Power for them to remain companions 1.
She becomes the first subject of his Martial Soul demonstrations. His Forced Ride briefly severs her connection to her pagoda, frightening her, before he returns it. He then independently summons a copy through her card. Gu Rong examines her afterward and confirms that neither demonstration has harmed her 4 5 6.
After seeing their closeness, Ning Fengzhi permits Rongrong to visit Wang Xiaoming’s residence. She later brings him copied sect records on unusual Martial Souls and their development, along with curiosities from her private collection 7 13.
Soul Hunting and Combat Training
Rongrong obtains an entry permit through a sect business and accompanies Wang Xiaoming into the Soul Hunting Forest without accepting the offered escort. She witnesses his defeat of an Iron Armored Rhinoceros and remains nearby while he absorbs its unusually old First Soul Ring 17 21.
Facing punishment afterward, she follows Wang Xiaoming’s advice: she stages a tearful apology, then redirects Ning Fengzhi’s attention toward Wang Xiaoming’s achievements. Her account of his approximately 770-year-old ring and twin Soul Skills successfully distracts the elders from scolding her 25.
Wang Xiaoming subsequently supplies Whale Rubber to strengthen her body. After acquiring her own First Soul Ring, she initially rejects his suggestion to throw her pagoda in battle, fearing the consequences of a shattered Martial Soul. Over the following years, however, she trains with him and develops the Seven Treasure Combo Technique 41 59 67.
Departure for Shrek Academy
Rongrong refuses Ning Fengzhi’s plan for her to attend Heaven Dou Royal Academy and tries to take Wang Xiaoming away with her. Her first approach involves a sleeping drug intended to keep him unconscious during the journey. He stops her, but later agrees to accompany her and Wang Dong’er on a trip 62 63.
Her objections are partly romantic: she sees Ye Lingling, Dugu Yan, and other women around Wang Xiaoming as rivals and wants to discover how much she matters to him. She chooses to investigate Shrek Academy after seeing its recruitment advertisement 63 64.
In Suotuo City, she intervenes when Ma Hongjun harasses Wang Dong’er. Using her self-amplification and pagoda throws, she defeats him despite his offensive Soul Skills. She refuses to let Flender dismiss the incident with an apology, and law enforcement arrests Ma Hongjun 67 68.
Leaving Shrek
Although disappointed by Shrek’s facilities, Rongrong decides to try attending for a few days. Wang Xiaoming allows her to remain, provided she does not neglect cultivation 82 86.
She later defends Xiao Wu when Flender questions her over Ma Hongjun’s injuries without adequate evidence. Disillusioned by the academy’s students and teachers, Rongrong asks to leave. Flender attempts to prevent their departure through force, but Wang Xiaoming intervenes, demands compensation, and takes her away 95 96 97 99.
Rongrong then completes enrollment at Heaven Dou Royal Academy. Soon afterward, she mistakes Little Xiao Wu for Wang Xiaoming and Xiao Wu’s daughter. Wang Xiaoming embraces and kisses her before explaining the child’s origins, resolving the misunderstanding 100 101.
Personality
Rongrong is proud, mischievous, and accustomed to being indulged. She uses tears, flattery, and threatened silence to soften her elders, and deliberately turns a public apology into a distraction from her own misconduct. Her pranks include hiding medicines in snacks; she particularly dislikes people who report her behavior 21 25 62.
She resents confinement and the sect’s lessons in etiquette, socializing, and management. Her desire for freedom repeatedly drives her to sneak out or run away. Nevertheless, pressure from the talented people around her eventually motivates her to cultivate diligently 13 63 64 73.
Her affection is fiercely protective. She defends Wang Xiaoming against Gu Rong’s pressure and disbelief, confronts Ma Hongjun over his harassment of Wang Dong’er, and stands beside Xiao Wu against Flender. She is also sensitive to exclusion: discovering Wang Xiaoming’s duplicate angers her chiefly because he has kept secrets from her, not because it serves him 7 12 25 67 95.
Abilities & Skills
Seven Treasure Glazed Tile Pagoda
Her Martial Soul manifests as a small, crystal-clear pagoda shining with seven-colored light 4.
- Attribute amplification: Its abilities strengthen specific attributes, with each additional Soul Ring increasing amplification by ten percentage points 59.
- Self-support: Rongrong can apply her buffs to herself rather than relying exclusively on teammates 59 67.
- Flexible ring selection: Suitable Soul Beasts need the appropriate attribute and age; her Martial Soul does not require one narrowly defined beast species 13 73.
- Cultivation ceiling: Rongrong states that the pagoda’s inherent limitation prevents her from advancing beyond level seventy-nine 86.
| Soul Skill | Ring | Documented effect |
|---|---|---|
| Strength Amplification | First; 480-year-old Thousand Ton Ant | Increases strength by 30% when first acquired. Used on herself to strengthen pagoda throws 59 67. |
| Speed | Second; yellow | Increases her speed, enabling her to evade Ma Hongjun’s Phoenix Fire Line and its enhanced version 67. |
Seven Treasure Combo Technique
Rongrong names this throwing-based combat style after developing it through years of training with Wang Xiaoming. It converts her support Martial Soul into a repeatedly reusable projectile 67.
- Boosted throws: Combines strength and speed amplification with specialized throwing techniques 67.
- Variable trajectories: Uses controlled flight paths and variations to make successive attacks difficult to evade 67.
- Repeated attacks: Exploits the pagoda’s ability to be dismissed and recalled rather than treating each throw as a lost weapon 60 67.
- Tested durability: Training includes striking the Seven Kill Sword and testing the pagoda beneath the Bone Dragon True Body 67.
- Combat independence: Allows her to injure opponents and briefly exchange blows with close-combat Soul Masters who have limited reach, rather than depending entirely on protection 67.
Physical Conditioning and Evasion
Her offensive training develops the explosive strength and endurance required to throw the pagoda effectively 67.
- Ball games help her learn force application and throwing control 67.
- Repeated rubber-ball drills build instinctive dodging responses; her evasive footwork is not identified as a formal movement technique 67.
- Whale Rubber strengthens her body and helps her absorb older First and Second Soul Rings 41 64.
Relationships
- Wang Xiaoming — Childhood friend, combat instructor, and romantic interest. She values his equal treatment, trains with him, and repeatedly seeks reassurance of his affection. He reciprocates with an embrace and kiss after the Little Xiao Wu misunderstanding 1 67 80 101.
- Ning Fengzhi — Father. He indulges her affection while arranging her education and restricting her outings; she frequently tries to evade his discipline 7 25 62 73.
- Gu Rong — Protective elder whom she calls Grandpa Bone. He checks her for injuries after Wang Xiaoming’s demonstration and readily yields when she threatens to stop speaking to him 6 7 25.
- Chen Xin — Protective elder whom she calls Grandpa Sword. He retrieves her from the Soul Hunting Forest, promises to plead against punishment, and ordinarily accompanies her on ring hunts 21 73.
- Wang Dong’er — Friend and traveling companion. Rongrong keeps her company at the Wang residence and fights Ma Hongjun when he harasses her 59 63 67.
- Xiao Wu — Friend and fellow short-term Shrek student. Rongrong defends her against unsupported accusations, while Xiao Wu comforts and teases her about Wang Xiaoming 80 95 99 101.
- Ye Lingling — Rival in both support abilities and affection for Wang Xiaoming. Rongrong compares their ring ages and other achievements, becoming frustrated by Ye Lingling’s mild responses 61 62 63.
Summoned Counterpart
- Wang Xiaoming’s Diendriver can summon an emotionless puppet resembling Rongrong. It is a separate construct, not Rongrong herself 11.
- The puppet’s level follows Wang Xiaoming’s level, so its strength cannot be used as evidence of Rongrong’s cultivation 11.
- Rongrong discovers the duplicate fetching washing water and retaliates by claiming Wang Xiaoming’s breakfast dishes 12.
- Wang Xiaoming uses the puppet to demonstrate self-buffing pagoda throws before Rongrong adopts the idea herself 59.
- A later appearance during the Fallen Soul Saint battle is likewise a summoned puppet rather than the real Rongrong 121.
