Background / History

Fu Xi is Nu Wa’s elder brother. When Nu Wa creates the Human Race, he is immediately struck by Liu Mang and Xuan Du’s Innate Dao Bodies and questions why the new race begins with such exceptional physiques 5. He is widely regarded as one of Hong Huang’s kindest figures—second only to Hong Yun by public reputation—and has previously aided others through divination 41.

He becomes deeply absorbed in yin-yang deduction after seeing the River Diagram and Luo Script. Di Jun brings him to the Demon Court under the pretext of safeguarding the treasures; in repayment for this karmic debt, Fu Xi deduces the Star Dou Great Formation for the Yao Race and further perfects his Eight Trigrams Diagram 19. Despite Nu Wa’s ascension, he refuses to rely on her protection in the Thirty-Three Heavens, choosing to seek his own opportunity to prove the Dao in Hong Huang 41.

After Nu Wa entrusts portions of the Human Race to several great races, Fu Xi takes responsibility for their survival. He seeks Di Jun’s protection for humanity, remains wary of placing humans under unreliable Demon Gods, and later negotiates the migration of Human Race tribes to the Four Seas 61 87 88. His efforts to preserve multiple human settlements are later described as leaving “five embers” from which the Human Race could grow 73.

During the Witch-Demon conflict, Fu Xi participates as an individual rather than as Nu Wa’s representative. He battles Zhu Jiuyin with the Eight Trigrams and Taishang’s Explode Pills, repaying both the Heavenly Court’s favor and Di Jun’s earlier assistance with the River Diagram and Luo Script 302 343 345.

Unable to see a clear route to proving the Dao in his original life, Fu Xi resolves to reincarnate and cultivate anew. Nu Wa ultimately agrees to oversee the process; he seals his Primordial Spirit, cultivation, and memories, while Nu Wa, Liu Mang, and Hou Tu fortify his soul with Human Race destiny, Merit, Calamity Qi, Creation Law, and Earthly Dao laws 328 333 355.

Personality

Fu Xi is compassionate, dutiful, and notably independent. Though Nu Wa’s sainthood grants him immense prestige, he dislikes being valued merely as “a Saint’s elder brother” and refuses to shelter permanently under her influence 41. His protection of the Human Race is practical as well as sincere: he considers the risks of Demon Court management, negotiates directly with the Dragon Race, and stays alert to hidden motives even while accepting their hospitality 61 87.

His public reputation for kindness contrasts with a playful, provocative streak. He taunts the Four Seas’ Dragon elders into attacking him, records Ao Jing’s tears with an Image Stone for future leverage, and trades insults freely with enemies and rivals 110 111. He can also be flustered and evasive around Nu Wa when she discovers his plans, especially his attempt to seek death as a route to reincarnation 333.
