Background / History

Leadership of the Worship Hall

Qian Daoliu had served as both Pope and Great Enshrined before Bibi Dong’s wedding. As the Angel God’s high priest, he possessed longstanding knowledge of God Trials. His son, Qian Xunji, had praised Bai Guyue’s talent before his death, prompting Qian Daoliu to consider bringing the young swordsman into the Worship Hall 12 31 47.

When Bibi Dong left Spirit Hall without arranging for her duties to be covered, Golden Crocodile Douluo proposed allowing the work to accumulate as grounds for removing her. Qian Daoliu refused because Qian Renxue had not yet grown up. Instead, he personally handled the outstanding documents and planned to reprimand Bibi Dong upon her return 12.

His recruitment interest centered on Bai Guyue reaching the peak of Soul King before eighteen. He judged the young man’s talent superior to both his own and Golden Crocodile Douluo’s 12.

Dispute over Bai Guyue and Bibi Dong’s Marriage

Upon Bibi Dong’s return, Qian Daoliu rebuked her for abandoning Spirit Hall’s daily administration without notice. He then demanded that she surrender Bai Guyue to the Worship Hall, describing him as Qian Xunji’s “inheritance” and threatening consequences if she refused 22.

Bibi Dong instead announced that she intended to marry Bai Guyue. Furious at the implications for Qian Renxue, Qian Daoliu released his Peerless Douluo pressure, forcing Bibi Dong backward. He withdrew it when she offered a means for Golden Crocodile Douluo and Azure Luan Douluo to advance 22.

Qian Daoliu ultimately accepted the marriage in exchange for the promised cultivation benefits. Bai Guyue supplied the Immortal Herbs, and Qian Daoliu explicitly credited him rather than Bibi Dong. The herbs later raised Golden Crocodile Douluo to Peerless Douluo and Azure Luan Douluo to Level 98 23 24 31.

Whale Rubber Demonstration

Bai Guyue’s explanation of his unusually old early Soul Rings led Qian Daoliu to arrange a practical test of heat-treated Whale Rubber. He summoned Wu Yue, a newly awakened academy student with innate rank-eight Soul Power, and examined the child after Bai Guyue administered it 24.

Qian Daoliu confirmed that Wu Yue’s strengthened physique could support a first Soul Ring between six hundred and nine hundred years old and a thousand-year second ring. Recognizing the discovery’s value to Spirit Hall, he praised Bai Guyue and offered him a reward. Bai Guyue advised acquiring Whale Rubber secretly 24.

Wedding and Qian Renxue’s Cultivation

Qian Daoliu helped prepare the wedding and publicly presented a Ten Thousand Year Soul Bone on behalf of the Worship Hall. When Bibi Dong later used her pressure against Qian Renxue in her Xue Qinghe disguise, he intervened before she was forced to her knees 31 34.

Afterward, Qian Renxue tearfully accused him of disregarding her feelings. He explained that opposing the marriage would probably not have stopped Bibi Dong, while accepting it had secured major breakthroughs for the Worship Hall. Despite Qian Renxue’s initial refusal to accept anything from the couple, he resolved to obtain an Immortal Herb for her 35.

Bai Guyue required the Seven Great Enshrined’s support for himself and Bibi Dong, including approval of their future choice of Holy Son or Holy Daughter. Qian Daoliu stipulated that their support could not violate their principles, then accepted the succession condition despite recognizing its implications for Qian Family control of the papacy 38.

In return, he received the Radiant Heavenly Heart Fruit. He later found Qian Renxue crying alone and persuaded her to accept it, arguing that increasing her strength would allow her to seek answers for herself 38 40.

Recognition of Bai Guyue’s Divine Inheritance

After Bai Guyue completed his First Trial of Destruction, Qian Daoliu sensed the leaked Divine Power and traced it to the Pope’s Palace. Recognizing the mark on Bai Guyue’s forehead, he confirmed that the swordsman was a god’s inheritor 46 47.

He regretted not recruiting Bai Guyue immediately after Qian Xunji’s death, explaining privately that grief and Qian Renxue’s undercover mission had occupied him. He offered to share everything he knew about God Trials, but Bibi Dong rejected the offer on her husband’s behalf 47.

Qian Daoliu subsequently judged Bai Guyue’s shooting contest against Light Feather Douluo. During the match, he witnessed Bai Guyue’s second Martial Soul, the World-Creating Heaven-Destroying Sword, and considered it potentially superior even to the Six-Winged Angel. After Light Feather lost, Qian Daoliu escorted him back to the Worship Hall 48 49.

The Twins and the Growing Papal Faction

Qian Daoliu attended the birth of Bai Guyue and Bibi Dong’s twins, bringing two Ten Thousand Year Soul Bones—one from himself and one from Light Feather Douluo. He distinguished his dislike of Bibi Dong from his appreciation of Bai Guyue’s contributions to Spirit Hall 56 57.

After meeting Bai Qingyao and Bai Qingyun, he committed their names to memory and considered their future talent. He also worried about explaining to Qian Renxue that she now had younger siblings 58.

When the captured Sky Azure Bull Python was brought to Spirit Hall, Qian Daoliu learned that Bai Guyue had reached rank seventy-four with six black rings and one red. After the beast insulted him, he summoned the other worships, joined their beating of the captive, and sealed it inside an Angel Cage at Bai Guyue’s request 64.

He later hoped to draw the newly advancing Li Yuan’er toward the Worship Hall’s faction. Her public allegiance to Bai Guyue and Bibi Dong, supported by another Immortal Herb-induced breakthrough, frustrated that attempt. Qian Daoliu remained silent as Golden Crocodile Douluo acknowledged Bibi Dong’s continually rising prestige 67.

Personality

Qian Daoliu is pragmatic in governing Spirit Hall. Rather than exploit Bibi Dong’s absence to remove her, he takes over her neglected work. He also accepts political compromises when they offer substantial benefits, including cultivation breakthroughs for the worships and an Immortal Herb for Qian Renxue 12 23 38.

His granddaughter is his strongest emotional concern. Her distress leaves him guilty and heartbroken, and he is willing to swallow his pride to secure resources for her. He hopes that improving her angel origin might help her trigger the Angel God’s nine trials in the future 35 40.

He values seniority and dignity, becoming visibly furious when Bibi Dong mocks his age, manners, and youthful reputation. Nevertheless, he can separate personal hostility from merit: he openly credits Bai Guyue’s achievements despite disliking his wife 23 47 57.

He also expresses prejudice against human–Soul Beast relationships. When discussing Tang Hao’s child, he treats mixed human and Soul Beast ancestry as an impurity; this is his stated belief, not a demonstrated limitation of that child’s potential 58.
