History

Search for a Successor

Du Busi first appears questioning the Body Sect disciple who awakened Toji’s Martial Soul eight years earlier. He is furious that the disciple concealed a child who initially showed Innate Full Soul Power simply because that power subsequently vanished 15 16.

After examining the aftermath of Toji’s destruction of a Body Sect squad, Du Busi recognizes his extraordinary combat potential and suspects that he could achieve a Gold Grade Second Awakening. Rather than focusing solely on revenge, he resolves to find and train him as the next sect master 22.

The search is driven by the sect’s precarious future. Du Busi’s elder brother, Du Bisou, has died at the hands of the Sea God Pavilion Master, leaving the sect without an actual Limit Douluo. Aware of the Sun Moon Empire’s expansionist ambitions, Du Busi believes he must secure a successor 22.

Recruiting and Training Toji

Du Busi meets Toji after arranging for him to settle his business with Luo Tian. He then pursues and tests the injured boy, hoping that extreme pressure will provoke a physical breakthrough. On recognizing a Self-type Body Martial Soul like his own, he becomes delighted at the prospect of recruiting him and brings him back for treatment 31 32 33.

Toji formally becomes his personal disciple after Du Busi explains his unusual cultivation and gives him a customized testing crystal. Du Busi already regards him as the likely future sect master, though he remains concerned about Toji’s strained relationship with other disciples 34 35 47.

Over the following years, Du Busi supports Toji with training, Soul Bones, and cultivation research. When Toji completes his Qi and blood cultivation technique, Du Busi asks permission to share it with the sect and even begins to bow in acknowledgment of the request. Protecting His Disciple

Du Busi repeatedly intervenes against Xuan Zi and Shrek Academy on Toji’s behalf. In the Star Dou Great Forest, he also captures the Three-Eyed Golden Lion and forces the Scarlet King to fetch a ten-thousand-year Dark Gold Terrorclaw Bear as compensation for Toji’s apparent injuries 89 93 97.

When Toji insists on gaining dangerous experience in the Sun Moon Empire, Du Busi accepts that confinement would not resolve the problem. He places protective power inside him and promises to remain ready to intervene 103 104.

After that connection is mysteriously obscured, Du Busi searches the continent for five years. The Body Sect supports the search wholeheartedly: Toji’s freely shared cultivation method has strengthened its members and enabled further breakthroughs 205.

Far North and the Conflict with Shrek

On finding Toji in the Far North, Du Busi learns that Shrek Academy and the Clear Sky Sect intend to capture him and Di Qiu’er. He orders the Body Sect’s twelve accompanying Titled Douluo to fight alongside the Soul Beasts and wounds Xuan Zi 205.

He later helps attack the Holy Spirit Cult, slamming Zhongli Wu into the ground after the latter burns his Soul Rings and powers. When Mingdu’s Soul Engineer legions arrive, Toji orders the group to withdraw through a prepared tunnel 218.

During the operation to rescue Elder Zhang and Zhang Lexuan from Shrek, Du Busi assigns sect members to dig the escape tunnels. He confronts Mu En over Du Bisou’s death and subsequently fights him alongside the Ferocious Beasts and Toji, suffering serious injuries in the struggle 241 247 252 256.

Supporting Toji’s Path to Godhood

After Toji’s near-fatal overexertion, Du Busi explains that ordinary heavenly treasures can only sustain his life rather than completely cure him. He is overjoyed when his disciple returns safely, but quickly discovers that Toji’s newly increased Bloodline Power needs urgent stabilization 263 270 271.

Once Toji recovers control, Du Busi pledges the Body Sect’s full support for his pursuit of self-created Godhood. He offers unrestricted access to useful resources and personally spars with him until his immense strength becomes controllable. War Against the Sun Moon Empire

Responding to Emperor Vikes’s appeal, Du Busi leads the Body Sect’s elites to support Heaven Dou. He commands a successful charge against Sun Moon forces, survives Ye Xishui’s attack, and clashes evenly with Long Xiaoyao while Toji conducts assassinations 280 284 286.

Following the victory, Du Busi argues for coordinated resistance and then a counteroffensive. Vikes places Heaven Dou’s forces at his disposal and agrees to support the Body Sect with resources, intelligence, and military access 287 289.

Du Busi subsequently travels with Toji to Mingdu and helps empty the imperial treasury. He transports the stolen research materials and treasures back to Xuan Ziwen, accepting the researcher’s brusque dismissal because the haul can strengthen the sect’s Soul Tools 294 300 304 311.

As the war worsens, he brings Toji the surviving allied powers’ request to assassinate Xu Tianran. Later, when Toji refuses further participation in Heaven Dou’s defense, Du Busi chooses to lead the Body Sect into battle regardless, unwilling to watch his homeland fall without resistance 319 336.

Finale

Du Busi remains on the continent to make the Body Sect more prosperous. Toji promises to return and take him to the Divine Realm when his remaining lifespan is nearly exhausted, explicitly crediting his teacher for helping him reach his present height 400.
