Background

Di Qiu'er grew up in the Star Dou Great Forest under the protection of Di Tian and the other Ferocious Beasts. Their indulgence gave her a position comparable to the forest's princess. Despite having only ten thousand years of cultivation, her talent and bloodline allowed her to rival a hundred-thousand-year Soul Beast 102 133.

Her protected life left her bored and eager to explore. After encountering Toji, she contrasted his eventful few decades with her own monotonous existence. She repeatedly slipped away, only for Di Tian to find her and bring her back 101 102.

She chose the human name Di Qiu'er herself. “Di” came from Di Tian, whose surname she asked to share; “Qiu” referred to autumn, which she associated with harvest and a turning point in fate 101.

Appearance

• Soul Beast form: A Three-Eyed Golden Lion with golden eyes and a red third eye 101 102 117.
• Human form: Long golden hair, crimson eyes, fair skin, a slender waist, and long legs. She says she shaped this appearance according to her own ideal rather than Toji's preferences 117 118.

Personality

Di Qiu'er is proud, stubborn, and protective of her independence. She challenges Di Tian's restrictions, refuses the Clear Sky Sect's demands to inspect her Martial Soul, and insists that her chosen name and future belong to her. Her initial interest in Toji comes partly from his existence outside the fate she can normally perceive 103 117 146.

Her confidence initially exceeds her practical combat experience. After Toji defeats her by interrupting her Martial Soul Avatar, she frankly admits her loss and accepts his instruction. She remains competitive, repeatedly promising to surpass him rather than abandoning her pride 133 158 177.

With Toji, her sharp tongue often conceals affection and embarrassment. She becomes jealous of Shanggong Wei'er, nurses him after dangerous training, and risks herself to save him in the Far North. Her later caution also reflects his influence: she suppresses her identifying attributes when discovery could expose her 144 153 192 200.

Leaving the Star Dou Great Forest

Di Qiu'er secures Di Tian's permission to enter the human world by asking for his Reverse Scale. He agrees only on the condition that the Scarlet King accompany her and keep his identity concealed 103.

After learning that Toji has traveled to the Sun Moon Empire, she follows him to Mingdu. She initially claims she only wants to experience human society and observe his unpredictable fate. Toji instead urges her to cooperate with him against the future in which she would become Huo Yuhao's Soul Ring and Soul Bone—a fate she wants to avoid, not an event that has happened to her 106 117 118.

Mingdu Cooperation and Combat Training

Di Qiu'er directs Toji's attention to the auctioned Spirit Devouring Fierce Blade and its recoverable Gold of Life. She joins his operations against Evil Soul Masters and the Xishui Alliance while he begins teaching her to use Soul Tools 120 123 128.

Their training culminates in a spar that exposes her reliance on cultivation advantages and powerful Soul Skills. Toji's decisive victory changes her approach: she accepts further instruction and resolves to improve her practical fighting ability 131 132 133.

Recruitment and the Clear Sky Sect Pursuit

She accompanies Toji in finding Xu He and recruiting him with the promise of support toward becoming a Level 9 Soul Engineer. Her fortune perception also assists their search involving Ju Zi's family 142 145 146.

The Clear Sky Sect's search for a Golden Dragon Martial Soul user brings her into direct conflict with its members. She later holds off a Titled Douluo while Toji eliminates other pursuers, but needs his intervention against the elder's Ninth Soul Skill 147 181.

In Mingdu, she helps Toji approach the Illustrious Virtue Hall by disguising his Soul Rings and locating Xuan Ziwen's thread of fate. She also participates in the attack on the Third Prince's residence 158 167 190.

Far North Crisis

Di Qiu'er travels north with Toji to improve her strength and seeks out the Ice Empress. When the Snow Empress's origin power threatens to destroy Toji's body, she shields him and begins fusing with him to save his life 192 194 200.

The Clear Sky Sect subsequently demands her surrender. During the escalating battle, she summons Di Tian, then prevents him from attacking her human allies or killing Toji. She explains that remaining with Toji is necessary to resist the fate threatening her, persuading Di Tian to let her continue outside the forest 202 207 208 209.

Supporting Toji's Allies

Before Toji's ambush on the Holy Spirit Cult, Di Qiu'er escorts Xuan Ziwen's Soul Engineers back to the Heaven Dou Empire. She leaves the Myriad Demon King with Toji, making clear that helping him also means helping her 214.

Later, she and Ye Guyi arrange a diversion at Shrek Academy. Di Qiu'er offers several Soul Kings a hundred thousand Gold Soul Coins each to attack the main gate, then forces their cooperation when they attempt to harass her 234.

Return to the Lake of Life and Later Role

After Toji's battle with Mu En leaves him near death, Di Qiu'er proposes taking him to the Lake of Life and brings him back to Di Tian. Before leaving the forest again, she also locates the Golden Hawksbill Turtle so the group can help it with the Gold of Life draining its cultivation 263 265 267.

She later shares a peaceful home life with Toji and the Zhang family. When he leaves for the Sun Moon Empire, he asks her to remain and look after their home 293 294.

She eventually accompanies him back to challenge Di Tian and follows to witness their battle. In her latest documented appearance, she and Zhang Lexuan inform Toji of the continental crisis and Ju Zi's urgent summons; he asks them to care for Du Busi before departing 313 314 347.
