Background / History

Rebirth and Loss of His Parents

Toji retains memories of a previous life in which he died after being hit by a car. Reborn into a declining Soul Master family, he initially hopes to cure his parents’ illnesses and live peacefully. Their decision to spend their savings—including their medical funds—on his Martial Soul awakening leaves the household impoverished when his Soul Power disappears 1.

By nine, he earns money delivering goods and treats his daily runs of dozens of kilometers as physical training. His work introduces him to the Zhang family and makes him Zhang Lexuan’s childhood playmate 1 12.

Three Evil Soul Masters murder and consume his parents. Toji fights them despite their superior cultivation and brutally kills the injured Soul Elder they abandon during their escape. Shrek Inspection Corps members subsequently sell him, leaving him determined to avenge both his parents and his own mistreatment 2 3.

Five Years in the Soul Fighting Arena

Under Liang Wu, Toji accepts arena combat as a means of securing food, shelter, and the resources needed to train. He privately plans to seize Liang Wu’s wealth once he becomes strong enough 3 5.

Over five years, he becomes the arena’s most popular fighter, defeating Soul Beasts and Soul Master teams under the name Toji the Tyrant. At fourteen, he tears a Thousand-Year Earth Bear apart barehanded, then requests leave to visit the Zhang family 7 24.

Knowing that the Zhang family faces extermination, Toji intervenes and saves Zhang Lexuan and her parents. Father Zhang subsequently helps him confront Liang Wu, who surrenders his fortune rather than die 5 8 12 13 15 18.

Joining the Body Sect

The Body Sect’s first attempt to bring Toji in becomes violent when its disciples try to force his cooperation. He injures several attackers and escapes over Heaven Dou City’s wall 20 21.

Du Busi later interrupts Toji’s battle with Luo Tian and personally tests him. After examining his unusual Martial Soul, Du Busi takes him as a disciple. Toji becomes a core disciple and the acknowledged strongest member of the sect’s younger generation after defeating a Soul Emperor and achieving a Gold Grade Second Awakening 30 32 34 35 40.

Toji also gives his blood-and-Qi cultivation method to the sect without payment. It strengthens the organization as a whole, helping more members reach Soul Saint, Soul Douluo, and Titled Douluo 205.

Soul Tool Development and Mingdu

To compensate for having no Soul Power, Toji funds research into weapons powered by blood and Qi. Li Xuanfeng develops equipment tailored to him, including a three-section staff and military Soul Tools. Toji also offers trial weapons to the Heaven Dou Empire 64 77 80.

In Mingdu, he cultivates commercial and intelligence connections, ultimately becoming the hidden authority behind the Aodu Chamber of Commerce and Ordinary Alliance. He recruits Xu He with an offer to support his ambition of becoming a Level 9 Soul Engineer 138 142 176.

While teaching practical combat at the academy, Toji studies Illustrious Virtue Hall’s security and infiltrates it with Di Qiu’er. He later persuades Xuan Ziwen, Ji Juechen, and dozens of students and Soul Engineers to leave the institution after demonstrating blood-and-Qi-type Soul Tool technology 166 169 213.

Conflict with Shrek Academy

When Zhang Lexuan is trapped at Shrek Academy, Toji resolves to attack and prepares with the Body Sect. He identifies level ninety-nine Mu En as the greatest obstacle 232.

Against Mu En, Toji repeatedly wounds himself and burns his life force to push Unyielding Fortitude toward its limit. His escalating attacks injure Mu En, with his ninth strike approaching God Level 257 258.

Following recovery in the Lake of Life, Toji returns to the Body Sect to stabilize dangerously excessive Bloodline Power. He then refines a Dragon Core and trains against Du Busi to master his growing Divine Body 266 271 273 276.

Imperial Conflict and the Divine Realm

Toji raids the Sun Moon Empire’s treasury, destroys its defending Soul Engineers, and spares a terrified Jing Hongchen. He later tells Ju Zi that he will return in five years to kill Xu Tianran 303 310.

On returning, he discovers his blood connection to Ju Zi’s infant, overwhelms high-level Soul Engineers, and battles Ye Xishui and Long Xiaoyao. Both are left near death before another imperial bombardment targets the battlefield 320 324 325 332.

With Kong Deming’s completed Level 10 armaments, Toji confronts Huo Yuhao on the Subduing Dragon Plain. The battle supplies the pressure for another breakthrough, and Toji subsequently ascends with the Destruction God King 358 366 374 376 380.

In the Divine Realm, his own blood and Qi evolve into divine energy. His battle with Tang San drives his body to God King Level; the latest account ends with both combatants badly injured and committing their remaining power to a final exchange 381 391 395.

Toji is fiercely disciplined and willing to endure extreme pain for advancement. Even as a child, he incorporates work into his training; later, he repeatedly risks death to overcome cultivation barriers. He rejects excessive protection because his particular path requires real danger 1 4 48 104.

His loyalty is strongest toward those who have treated him kindly. He remembers his parents’ sacrifices, saves the Zhang family, shares his cultivation method freely with the Body Sect, and prioritizes Di Qiu’er’s equipment over his own. Genuine kindness can interrupt his ruthlessness: Wang Dong’er’s decision to give him water makes him abandon a planned attack on her 2 13 192 205 243.

Toward enemies, Toji is often vindictive, provocative, and merciless. He uses humiliation and calculated violence, but remains pragmatic about alliances, resources, and technology. He supports Soul Tools despite the Body Sect’s opposition and openly regards them as the future of warfare and productive development 35 107 125 131 353.
