History

Childhood and the Zhang Family Attack

Zhang Lexuan grew up in a wealthy noble family that invested heavily in her cultivation and education. Before her Martial Soul awakening, she befriended Toji, who became her only childhood playmate. Her family frequently supported him by buying all the goods he had brought to sell. When he disappeared for five years, she searched for him without success 1 6 13.

At around eleven, Lexuan survived an attack on the Zhang residence. Her injured mother hid her beneath a bed and stood outside to conceal her. Toji arrived before the attackers could kill them, reunited with Lexuan, and fought a path out for mother and daughter before returning to help her father 8 9 10.

Entering Shrek Academy

A Shrek teacher discovered her Innate Full Soul Power and Rank 20 cultivation after the family’s escape. Lexuan asked him to admit Toji as well and considered refusing admission when that proved uncertain. Toji persuaded her to pursue her education rather than sacrifice her future to remain with him 14 15.

She entered Shrek through a recommendation and passed its entrance examination. Because she arrived after normal enrollment and the freshmen’s dormitories were full, she was assigned to Han Ruoruo’s dormitory. She subsequently became a core disciple and class monitor 22 67 71.

During her first holiday, Toji helped her obtain her Third Soul Ring and gave her custom Soul Tools. He also revealed that the Zhang Family had been rebuilt and was more prosperous than before. Returning home to her parents and their larger residence finally relieved much of the fear left by the attack 69 70 71 73.

Soul King and Tournament Representative

At fifteen, Lexuan joined a hunt for her Fifth Soul Ring. When the group encountered powerful Soul Beasts, Toji intervened and selected the mutated Blood Moon Wolf King for her. Its Soul Bone greatly strengthened her spiritual perception, while its ring brought her to Level 53 and granted Blood Moon Domain 82 85 88 91 97.

Her domain became decisive in the Continental Advanced Soul Master Academy Soul Fighting Tournament. She fought frequently because her combat strength exceeded that of some full Shrek Seven Devils members, and her domain secured Shrek’s victory against the Sun Moon Royal Soul Engineer Academy 104.

Toji attended her match as promised, then told her that he intended to spend five or six years in the Sun Moon Empire. Lexuan kissed him farewell and promised to cultivate until she was strong enough to help him 105 106.

Imprisonment at Shrek

By twenty, Lexuan had reached Level 77, won a tournament championship, and been chosen as the next Sea God Pavilion Master. After an unexplained incident on Sea God Island, the pavilion elders began demanding information about Toji. She refused to disclose anything, even at the cost of her succession 230.

Shrek confined her in a lightless chamber, sealed her Soul Power, and interrogated her repeatedly. Her prolonged absence worried her father, while her friends were told that she had entered seclusion to break through to Titled Douluo 222 231 251.

When her father came looking for her, he was severely injured and brought into her cell. An elder’s disciple then offered to arrange her release if she married him. Lexuan broke her restraints, severed his ear with a moonlight sword, and nearly killed him before his Titled Douluo teacher intervened. She continued withholding information and secured treatment for her father 231 232.

Toji eventually infiltrated her room. Although she could overcome the restraints, she would not leave while Shrek held her father elsewhere. She gave Toji the direction in which he had been taken and conserved her remaining Soul Power while awaiting their rescue 237.

Rescue and Later Activities

Toji coordinated with the Body Sect to rescue Lexuan and her father simultaneously. While he confronted Shrek’s forces, Ye Guyi entered Lexuan’s confinement room and brought her out. Han Ruoruo and Wu Ming allowed them to pass after learning the truth. Both prisoners escaped before Xuan Zi reached Lexuan’s empty room 241 246 251 252.

Lexuan reunited with Toji and her parents in Heaven Dou City and thanked him for saving the family. She later appeared at home with her parents, Di Qiu’er, the Ice Empress, and the Snow Empress 270 292.

During the continental crisis surrounding Huo Yuhao’s defeat of the Sun Moon Empire’s army, Lexuan and Di Qiu’er brought Toji news of Ju Zi’s urgent summons. Before leaving for Mingdu, he asked them to care for Du Busi 347.

Appearance

Zhang Lexuan has fair skin, delicate features, and the refined bearing of a noblewoman 13 67.

Personality

Lexuan is affectionate toward her family and steadfastly loyal to Toji. She rejects the idea that cultivation rank determines whom she should love, explicitly stating that she would choose him even if he remained an ordinary person without Soul Power 98.

The attack on her family turns cultivation into an urgent personal goal. She works to protect those close to her and eventually become someone Toji can rely on. She also remains considerate of his resources and time: she initially tries to return his expensive Soul Tools and later rushes her Fifth Soul Ring absorption because she fears delaying his business 71 91 106.

Her gentleness does not prevent forceful resistance. During captivity, she refuses interrogation, retaliates against coercion, and prioritizes her father’s safety over an immediate escape. Privately, however, she struggles between wanting Toji to rescue her and fearing the traps Shrek has prepared for him 231 232 237.

Moon Martial Soul

Her inherited Martial Soul manifests as a luminous moon behind her, radiating silver-white light 16 69.

• Moonlight sword: Condenses moonlight into a solid longsword capable of severing an opponent’s ear and reducing it to dust 231.
• Soul Power suppression: Her moonlight prevents a fellow Soul Douluo from using even a simple Soul Skill during their confrontation 231.

• Its team-wide effects prove decisive against the Sun Moon Royal Soul Engineer Academy 104.
• Chen Feng identifies its compatibility with his Dragon Wolf Martial Soul, although Lexuan rejects his romantic advances 97 98.

Physical Conditioning

Toji supplies her with a cultivation method that improves her physical attributes 88.
