Qin Aotian Slaps Gu Xiran Again and Again
When he heard that he was up against Gu Xiran, Qin Chuan walked onto the stage with a smile, while Gu Xiran and the others turned ashen.
"Why is little junior sister's opponent Qin Chuan?" Xie An demanded furiously.
"Jin Pang must have had a hand in this. I just saw him go up to the raised platform to find Jin Feng. Second senior brother, you're the one who dragged little junior sister into this." Jiang Lin's tone was hostile, and his eyes held a look of reproach. Pei Xuan also looked at Xie An reproachfully.
"I... Little junior sister, I'm sorry. I dragged you into this." Xie An lowered his head in self-reproach.
"Second senior brother, it's all right. I'll just surrender as soon as I get on stage. Qin Chuan wouldn't dare do anything to me." After comforting Xie An, Gu Xiran flew onto the stage.
When Yun Yao saw that Qin Chuan's opponent was Gu Xiran, he sprang to his feet. His gaze swept over the grand elder and Jin Feng as he said hostilely, "Are you provoking me?"
"Sect master, whatever do you mean? I have always had the utmost respect for you." The grand elder leisurely picked up his teacup and took a sip.
He was in an excellent mood. In the time just now, he had gotten to the bottom of most of what had happened in the secret realm. The Glazed Glass Immortal Venerable's disciple had a deep grudge against Yun Yao's disciple, so he would naturally fan the flames.
Thus, when Jin Pang came to Jin Feng for help and the request reached him, he readily agreed. He worked with remarkable efficiency, promptly changing Gu Xiran's opponent to Qin Chuan.
Now that things had come to this, nothing Yun Yao said would help. He swept a warning look over the grand elder and Jin Feng, then sat down resentfully.
Grand Elder Zhang Daoyuan and Jin Feng exchanged smiles and even raised their teacups in a toast, paying Yun Yao's warning no heed at all.
By now, Gu Xiran had stepped onto the arena. She had her own pride as a good-for-nothing and wanted to try fighting Qin Chuan. She couldn't surrender the moment she stepped onto the stage.
It was precisely this pride of hers as a good-for-nothing that was about to bring a storm of slaps down on her.
"Qin..." Gu Xiran opened her mouth.
Smack.
Qin Chuan slapped Gu Xiran across the face, then gave her a high-sounding reprimand. "Calling me by my full name again? Don't you know to respect your seniors and honor the Dao? Senior brother sect master hasn't taught his disciple properly, so I'll help him teach you a lesson."
"You..." Gu Xiran clutched her face and tried to say something.
Smack.
Qin Chuan slapped her again. "You, you, you. What about me? Are you looking at me like that because you want to eat me?"
"Qin...!!!" Gu Xiran tried to shout, only to be met with another slap from Qin Chuan.
Smack.
"That's for disrespecting your martial uncle."
"I..." Gu Xiran wanted to surrender now, but how could Qin Chuan possibly give her a chance to speak?
Smack.
Qin Chuan slapped Gu Xiran across the face again. "I, I, I. What about you? Did I say you could speak? You really don't know the first thing about manners."
By now, Yun Yao had risen furiously to his feet on the platform and wanted to rush onto the arena to rescue Gu Xiran.
"Sect Master Yun, no one may interfere in the inner sect martial competition. Those are the Pure Void Sect's rules. Are you going to break the sect's rules?" The grand elder stepped in to stop Yun Yao.
Jin Feng did not rise. He merely picked up his teacup and said softly, "I wonder if the Glazed Glass Immortal Venerable will be angry when she learns her disciple has been bullied."
With the Pure Void Sect's rules and Shen Qingyuan weighing on him, Yun Yao's resolve instantly deflated, and he stopped trying to force his way onto the arena.
"The inner sect martial competition is only a contest. If any disciple dares forcibly take another's life, I, as sect master, will surely intervene."
His piercing gaze swept first over the grand elder and Jin Feng before falling on Qin Chuan. As long as Qin Chuan dared show any killing intent toward Gu Xiran, he would do whatever it took to save her.
"Hehe, of course there won't be any such thing as disciples killing one another in the inner sect martial competition." Knowing that Qin Chuan did not want to kill Gu Xiran, Jin Feng replied to Yun Yao with a smile.
"Elder Jin is right." The grand elder smiled and chimed in. The two sang the same tune, their act fitting together without a seam, leaving Yun Yao with nowhere to vent his anger.
"Sect Master Yun, Grand Elder, Elder Jin, I'll personally go preside over the matches on that arena. I absolutely won't let any sect disciples kill one another." The peacemaker, the second elder, spoke up.
"Hmph." Yun Yao snorted coldly and swept his sleeves as he sat down, offering no objection.
"Thank you for your trouble, Second Elder." The grand elder and Jin Feng spoke in unison, then exchanged another smile. Everything went without saying.
He Zong cursed Yun Yao, Grand Elder Zhang Daoyuan, and Jin Feng thoroughly in his heart. They had to fight over even a minor matter like the inner sect martial competition, forcing him to come out and play peacemaker at his age. He truly worried himself sick over the Pure Void Sect.
Though he cursed them inwardly, he moved quickly. By now, he had relieved the elder presiding over Qin Chuan's arena and taken his place.
Pei Xuan and his two junior brothers had rushed toward the arena when Qin Chuan delivered the first slap, but the elder presiding over it had restrained them at once.
Now that Second Elder He Zong had taken over, they did not dare act recklessly. They looked up at Yun Yao on the raised platform, and he signaled them not to act rashly. The three could only watch Qin Chuan slap Gu Xiran.
In that short time, Qin Chuan slapped Gu Xiran again.
Smack!
"That's for showing no respect to your elders."
Smack.
"You're still glaring at me."
Smack.
"You still dare glare at me."
Gu Xiran wanted to cry, but had no tears. Her cultivation was lower than Qin Chuan's, so she could not resist him at all. Besides, Qin Chuan gave her no chance to speak. Whenever she opened her mouth, he gave her several slaps in quick succession.
She felt wronged. She had no idea how she had offended Qin Chuan. First, he had chased her down in the secret realm at the slightest disagreement, and now he was slapping her on the arena.
Qin Chuan's experiment had yielded a conclusion: as long as he harbored no intent to kill Gu Xiran, the Heavenly Dao would not intervene when he attacked her.
Then he kicked Gu Xiran, knocking her to the ground, intending to destroy the dantian she used for cultivation.
The moment he formed the thought of destroying Gu Xiran's dantian, alarm bells rang wildly in his heart. He hurriedly suppressed the thought, and the sense of danger instantly vanished.
Qin Chuan had more or less figured it out. He could beat the female lead, but he could neither destroy the foundation of her cultivation nor take her life.
Now that he had figured things out, Qin Chuan, who was no pervert and had no perverse desire to go on tormenting Gu Xiran, slapped her flying off the arena.
Gu Xiran was finally free. She was overwhelmed with shame and anger, unable to face the fact that she had been slapped. Her head lolled to one side, and she fainted.
Pei Xuan and the other two hurried over. Pei Xuan took Gu Xiran in his arms, and after discovering that nothing serious was wrong with her, he raised his head and stared piercingly at Qin Chuan. "Martial Uncle Qin, you'd better pray you don't run into me in a later match."
The threat was so plain that Qin Chuan naturally understood it. He chuckled, ignored Pei Xuan entirely, and turned to ask He Zong, "Second Elder, I won, didn't I?"
Wasn't a Late Foundation Establishment Stage cultivator like Gu Xiran just asking to be beaten by entering the inner sect martial competition? He had only slapped Gu Xiran a few times. They were merely flesh wounds, not even an external injury; he had already been merciful enough.
"Number twenty-three, Qin Chuan wins!" He Zong announced the result of the match in a deep voice.
In fact, He Zong now had a grievance against Yun Yao too. Arms had been chopped off in the other arenas, and no one had said a thing. Qin Chuan had only slapped his disciple a couple of times, which didn't even count as an external injury. Was his disciple the only precious one? He had even forced these old bones of his to come out and preside over the competition.
Qin Chuan leisurely walked down from the arena and caught sight of Pei Xuan and the other two from the corner of his eye. All three were looking at him with venomous hatred, and Xie An looked as though he wanted to devour him.
Pei Xuan also saw Qin Chuan looking at them out of the corner of his eye. He mouthed at Qin Chuan, "Bastard, I'm going to kill you."
Qin Chuan halted, his heart churning like overturned rivers and seas. He turned to look at Pei Xuan, having already sentenced him to death in his heart.
More than anything, he hated being called a bastard. When someone had called him that at the orphanage on Blue Star, he had beaten that person until they ran whenever they saw him.
Now Pei Xuan had crossed that line. He could not possibly let Pei Xuan off with a few simple slaps as he had Gu Xiran.
He did not waste words trading insults with Pei Xuan. He continued down from the arena, waiting for a chance to deal with him properly when they met in the competition.
