Background / History

Childhood and rise to Void Hunter

Lu Yingheng transmigrated into the world as a six-year-old orphan. Trapped with three Ethereals before he could meaningfully use his system, he survived because the Defense Force rescued him. He lived in an orphanage until An Limi took him in several years later and raised him to adulthood 2.

After joining the Defense Force, he began killing Ethereals and developing his system-granted powers. He eventually became the First-Generation Void Hunter known as the Dragon Emperor. His work extended beyond Hollow suppression: he comforted refugees, fought crime, treated ordinary citizens fairly, and restrained powerful financial interests 2 7.

He also helped secure the authority of New Eridu’s mayor. Their relationship began in youth and developed through mutual reliance, although Lu Yingheng considered their aligned interests—not affection alone—the strongest guarantee of the mayor’s loyalty 1 5.

Completing the system

During a Hollow disaster on the city’s outskirts, Lu Yingheng rescued a mother and daughter whom a fleeing man had pushed toward Thanatos. He discovered that the man was another transmigrator with his own system, who dismissed the people around him as disposable game data 3.

Lu Yingheng killed him with Gungnir. The Strongest Dragon Emperor System then devoured the man’s Plot Role-Playing System, filling its missing modules and opening a path beyond Lu Yingheng’s 50% bloodline limit 3.

Staged death and the amnesiac identity

A year before the main storyline, Lu Yingheng arranged his apparent death to expose hostile factions, enter the protagonists’ circle, and gather Emotion Points. He informed the mayor of the deception while allowing An Limi and most of his followers to believe he was dying 1 2 4 5.

In the Crete Hollow, he staged a death scene involving Gungnir through his heart and his body restrained to a cross. The Dragon Emperor Guard subsequently announced that he had died protecting New Eridu from a level-nine Ethereal. Ten thousand mourners gathered in Lumina Square for his memorial procession 5 7.

The deception had consequences he underestimated. Vivian attempted suicide after his apparent death and later devoted herself to revenge, while several women close to him became increasingly possessive 8 9 52.

Life with Wise and Belle

When the Cunning Hares found him in the Hollow, Lu Yingheng revived and deliberately adopted the role of a confused amnesiac. He waited until their situation became desperate before annihilating the surrounding Ethereals with a Word Spirit, earning 160 million Emotion Points from the audience’s reaction 12.

Wise and Belle sheltered him at their video store, believing he had lost his memories and needed protection. Wise offered him a downstairs sofa and work organizing shelves and helping at the stall. Lu Yingheng maintained his helpless persona while privately celebrating his successful entry into the protagonists’ lives 16 17.

He grew comfortable with the store’s quiet routine, but continued intervening when useful. He intimidated three members of the Three-Pact Round Table and explained that his official death had freed him from the restrictions imposed on Void Hunters. He spared them temporarily so their activities could continue driving the protagonist’s growth 29 32.

Mechanical Sacrifice incident

Lu Yingheng rescued Grace from the Mechanical Sacrifice, stopping its pincer tail with one hand and tearing it apart. Fury then manifested at more than forty meters long to block the creature’s drill 42.

After purchasing another portion of the Black King bloodline, he struck the Sacrifice once with Fury and split it open, enabling the others to rescue Koleda. His draconic appearance briefly made Belle fear that his old identity had returned and he would leave; he reassured her by resuming his familiar joking manner 43 44.

Departure and romantic confrontation

Lu Yingheng left the video store with a letter claiming that hackers had accessed Phaethon’s old account and endangered Wise and Belle. Privately, he had deliberately weakened the account’s security and arranged the apparent breach. He wanted to distance himself from Belle’s growing affection while directing her suspicions toward TOPS and the Order of Glorification 55 56.

The resulting search brought Alice, Vivian, and Hoshimi Miyabi into conflict over him. They respectively claimed to be his wife, child bride, and fiancée—claims he knew were false but could not easily reject without exposing his feigned amnesia 57 58.

He ultimately refused to accept any account of his past and announced that he would seek his memories himself. After Vivian broke down, he promised never to hate her provided she stopped hurting others, then left after giving the women his contact information 59 61.

Mount Yunkui and return to Vivian

Seeking useful allies at Mount Yunkui, Lu Yingheng wounded himself with Fury and arranged for Xiaoguang to find him. Using the name Wang Xing, he continued pretending to have amnesia and relied on his gilded elder’s token to establish his standing within the sect 62 64 65.

He persuaded Xiaoguang to hide him in her room and keep his presence secret from Sect Master Yijiang. Although he intended to avoid another romantic attachment, his charm passives steadily increased Xiaoguang’s affection 63 65.

He later agreed to spend a day shopping with Vivian. During the outing, he selected purple irises to symbolize light, freedom, and hope after darkness, but explicitly told the florist that Vivian was his little sister rather than his girlfriend. Vivian overheard the distinction and concealed her anger 71 72.

Lu Yingheng’s public reputation combines overwhelming authority with kindness. He makes time to comfort disaster victims, carries candy for frightened children, and shields them from witnessing violence. His conduct earned widespread gratitude rather than fear alone 3 7.

In private, he is playful, vain, and fond of teasing. He banters with his system, jokes about his appearance, and deliberately flusters Belle. His behavior is informal enough that a passerby mistakes him for an unconvincing Dragon Emperor cosplayer because he lacks the expected cold demeanor 2 35 44.

He is also calculating. He treats relationships as potential routes to political support, manipulates story events to harvest Emotion Points, and exploits his official death to intimidate enemies outside the rules governing Void Hunters. His gentle amnesiac persona is a carefully maintained performance 5 17 23 32 56 57.

Despite this, he recognizes that emotional attachment can undermine his plans. Vivian’s suffering makes him acknowledge his responsibility and soften his stance, while his own tendency to become attached leads him to avoid exploiting people whose usefulness cannot justify the risks 61 62.

He strongly prefers a leisurely life when circumstances allow. At the video store, he enjoys routine work and relaxation so much that he nearly forgets the approaching main storyline 29.
