Background and History
Transmigration and Survival
Noah transmigrates into the body of thirteen-year-old Carnegie Noah after a fishing accident on May 7, 1501. The original boy’s parents had been killed by pirates three years earlier, and he had survived through their inheritance, fishing, and support from Carnegie Joseph. Noah accepts the boy’s name and retains memories from both lives 1.
Stranded on an uninhabited island, he secures coconuts, fresh water, shelter, and fire while experimenting with the Card-Card Fruit. After a week, he signals a passing fishing boat with a smoke card. Joseph rescues him from Walrus Island and returns him to Starfish Island, where Noah vows to protect Joseph’s family in repayment 1 2 3.
Founding Noah Manor
Noah begins intensive training in Joseph’s secluded orchard. Wanting companions who can share his outlook, he invites eight local orphans to a barbecue rather than waiting to find like-minded people by chance 4.
The gathering becomes the foundation of Noah Manor. He offers the children food and work, assigns household responsibilities, and gradually builds a family whose members train together 5 9. He also opens a hardware store for Joseph so that his uncle no longer needs to fish alone 8.
After building a concealed shipyard and the submarine Nautilus, Noah takes the family to sea. Before leaving, he stores valuable workshop and shipyard equipment in cards to prevent its theft or destruction during their absence 14.
Appearance
Noah grows dramatically during his early training years, developing a tall, muscular physique 1 6 33.
- At thirteen: 184 centimeters tall and 88 kilograms 1.
- After one year of training: 2.09 meters tall 6.
- At sixteen: 2.76 meters tall, with streamlined muscles and long black hair tied in a simple ponytail 33.
- Disguises: Uses masks, hats, altered clothing, and scent-covering perfume. His disguises include a black cloak and conical hat, as well as a white suit and white mask 6 44.
Personality
Noah is methodical, cautious, and willing to delay an opportunity until he can control its risks. He postpones approaching Morgans until he believes he can escape safely, repeatedly changes disguises, and prepares concealed bases and evacuation routes. Even after gaining overwhelming physical strength, he continues to account for the World Government’s unknown capabilities 7 20 69 110.
His stated ambition is to overthrow the World Government and change a world he regards as miserable and hopeless. He rejects the idea that operating secretly makes his family an underworld organization, arguing that abandoning principles would undermine both their purpose and their Haki 34. His vision includes schooling for children, opportunities for young people, and security for the elderly 47.
He is protective toward relatives, companions, and civilians. He repays Joseph’s care, raises orphaned children within his organization, and slows territorial operations when further fighting would endanger newly relocated civilians 3 5 176.
That concern coexists with extreme ruthlessness. Noah kills defeated enemies, uses captives as material for Apostles, and accepts invasive brain modification as part of that process. He also kills Rayleigh, Ace, and Sabo despite Rayleigh’s plea for mercy 25 110 144 186.
Abilities and Skills
Card-Card Fruit
Noah’s primary ability creates cards that can contain objects, spaces, and specialized effects. Its early storage applications expand into an interconnected system of divination, Apostles, and transferable powers 2 13 45 92.
- Storage: Seals supplies, cabins, machinery, prisoners, and eventually the entire Nautilus. He can adjust a card space’s dimensions to fit the submarine 14 15.
- Prepared effects: Releases stored fire, smoke, sleeping smoke, seawater, and other materials for combat or survival 3 44.
- Research archive: Stores his studies in the Secret Card – Library 4.
- Early limitation: Cannot turn his own body into a card 2.
Tarot Divination
Noah uses Major and Minor Arcana cards to answer questions, narrow down locations, and assess possible outcomes 13.
- Locates Devil Fruits and destinations that ordinary navigational tools cannot reliably identify 13 84.
- Estimates separate probabilities for victory, escape, killing, and capture rather than treating victory as a single outcome 35.
- Detects Imu’s surviving contingency and later confirms his death 227.
- The cards’ golden flame-cloud patterns dull after an early divination session 13.
Card Apostles
Noah transforms captives into Apostles who can act independently, train, and lend him their Devil Fruit powers. Early Apostles are treated as extensions of Noah rather than complete human members of the family 45 92.
- Initial borrowing limit: One fruit ability at a time, doubled stamina consumption, and no simultaneous summoning of the corresponding Apostle 45.
- Later limit: Two borrowed powers at approximately 27% development; three external powers remain his stated bodily maximum 79.
- Specialized roles: Apostles provide combat strength, vitality, construction, medicine, weapons replication, scientific research, and strategic transport 92.
- Completed deck: All twenty-two Major Arcana Apostles awaken when Noah reaches the fused state 184.
Magic Cards
At 50% fruit development, Noah learns to place Apostle powers into cards usable by other people 92.
- Users must first bind a card with a drop of blood 92.
- Production consumes Noah’s stamina; Barton’s vitality can support additional manufacturing 92.
- By March 1508, nearly every elite family member and higher-ranking member has a complete set 93.
Haki
Noah possesses all three Haki types and develops unusually extensive Observation and Conqueror’s abilities 9 79.
- Observation Haki — Ultra-Wide Area: Begins with unusually long detection range and later reaches 120 kilometers radially through electromagnetic amplification 6 45.
- Thought reading: His amplified Observation reads Nika’s thoughts during their battle 186.
- Armament Haki: Initially coats one fist; later combines it with borrowed powers and Conqueror’s Haki in attacks such as Atomic Destruction Slash 9 186.
- Heart Resonance: Connects him to people who agree with his way of thinking 79.
- Red Torrent: Incorporates those companions’ willpower within three kilometers, interferes with enemy Observation, and strengthens attacks against Armament defenses 79.
- Protective application: He identifies a reverse use that could shield aligned companions from enemy Conqueror’s pressure, but has not tested it when first described 79.
Borrowed Powers and Combinations
Noah’s combat style depends on combining complementary abilities rather than using each fruit in isolation 110 185 186.
| Power or Combination | Applications and Limits |
|---|---|
| Steel-Steel Fruit | Reinforces his otherwise human physique; produces heat, reflective surfaces, magnetic fields, currents, and iron-sand control. He considers it essential protection against Admiral-level ambushes during his earlier travels 64 69 79. |
| Float-Float Fruit | Enables aerial travel, island movement, and large-scale excavation; helps the family cross the Calm Belt without confronting Sea Kings 46 53. |
| Corrosion-Corrosion Fruit | Can corrode Armament Haki, but requires sufficient stamina and stronger Observation than the opponent 79. |
| Slow-Slow Fruit | Supplies a control ability whose beam slows struck targets for thirty seconds 82 92. |
| Strong-Strong Fruit | Increases physical strength up to one hundredfold before Awakening and one thousandfold afterward 110 184. |
| Lucky-Lucky Fruit | Drains enemy luck. Noah also concludes that accumulated luck can passively benefit nearby companions 156 224. |
| Shadow-Shadow Fruit | Uses shadows for covert theft, scouting, transport, and bringing allied fighters onto the battlefield 145 159 212. |
| Dark-Dark Fruit | Uses its power during the final war and strips the ability from Imu’s last host 212 227. |
| Corrosive Bacteria | Combines microbial control and corrosion against Nika while countering heat with absorption 185. |
| Atomic Destruction Slash | Combines atom-shattering power, enhanced strength, Armament Haki, and Conqueror’s Haki; cuts Nika in half 186. |
| Atomic Fission Fist | Destroys Imu’s body after Noah pulls him into Castle Space 224. |
Fused State and Innate Abilities
After transforming himself into a mythical beast and inscribing his soul information, Noah permanently incorporates three copied abilities into the Card-Card Fruit’s information body 184.
- Azure Dragon Body: Copied from Kaido’s Fish-Fish Fruit, Model: Azure Dragon 184.
- Portable Space: Copied from Bege’s Castle-Castle Fruit 184.
- Equivalent Exchange: Copied from Barton’s Swap-Swap Fruit 184.
- These remain part of Card God Noah even if the Card-Card Fruit is reborn; its information body cannot accommodate a fourth innate ability 184.
- He can still temporarily borrow three Apostle powers in addition to these permanent abilities 184.
Technical Knowledge and Leadership
Noah applies scientific reasoning to fruit development, engineering, and military organization, while acknowledging that his previous-life martial arts and shipbuilding knowledge are incomplete 7 14 45.
- Designs the Nautilus around card-assisted buoyancy, stored air, and compact machinery 14.
- Guides Ajie’s Graphite-Graphite Fruit development through graphite’s friction, heat resistance, and conductivity 12.
- Plans industrial relocation, counterintelligence, military appointments, and governorate restructuring 69 132 133.
- Prepares both resistance and evacuation options for a potential world-threatening sea invasion 93.
Equipment and Assets
- Nautilus — A custom steel submarine, 56 meters long with a 400-ton displacement and accommodation for twenty ordinary-sized people. Its buoyancy system depends on Noah adding and removing iron blocks with cards 14.
- Tarot decks — Major and Minor Arcana used for divination and Apostle development 13 45.
- Seastone equipment — Uses handcuffs, powder, bullets, daggers, and gas in operations against ability users 109 144 224 227.
- Escape Passages — Allow Noah and his allies to withdraw through Castle Space, including their escape from the Five Elders to York Island 128.
- Pure Gold — Obtains it for research into longevity and cryopreservation. He declines to wear it at twenty-four because stopping cell division would also halt further physical improvement 178.
- Uranus — Doria alters the Ancient Weapon’s control system so that Noah alone holds its highest authority 218.
Relationships
- Carnegie Joseph — His paternal cousin-once-removed, addressed as “Uncle.” Joseph supports the orphaned Noah and rescues him from Walrus Island; Noah vows to protect his family and later gives him safer work ashore 1 3 8.
- Carnegie Joshua — His younger paternal cousin and an early companion. Helps gather the orphan recruits and later handles communications and operational support 1 4 60 194.
- Lilith — Founding companion and first head of household affairs. Supports infiltration, navigation, and major military operations 5 21 67 119.
- Lilian — Founding companion and cook. Noah later helps her absorb Nika’s emptied Sun God information body through the Flame-Flame Fruit, making her Sun God Lilian 5 186.
- Mary — Founding companion whose emotion-sensing Observation helps investigate oppression, screen recruits, and expose spies 5 21 66 165.
- Alei — Sniper and strategic support specialist. His Hole-Hole Fruit provides wormhole travel, evacuation routes, and rapid relocation 21 33 66.
- Luo / Trafalgar Law — Joins after Noah’s intervention in Flevance. Becomes central to surgery, body modification, longevity research, and Apostle preparation 40 45 110 178 194.
- Robin — Senior collaborator involved in intelligence, lunar exploration, and Sky Empire administration. Noah values building the future more than dwelling on her historical knowledge 75 79 93 133.
- Kuro — Trusted operative and later head of the General Staff Department. Assists in assassinations, fruit acquisition, strategy, and campaigns against the World Government 109 132 165.
- Monet and Sugar — Captured sisters brought aboard the Nautilus. Monet agrees to work for Noah on the condition that Sugar remains safe and is not made to work before adulthood 44.
- Nami and Bellemere — Noah initially approaches their household gradually, later giving Nami a navigation book and preparing for Arlong’s arrival 113 156.
- Imu — Principal enemy in the final confrontation. Noah pursues and destroys his successive bodies rather than assuming an apparent killing blow is sufficient 224 227.
