Chapter 482

Norton was just an alarm clock

The dim kerosene lamp swayed slightly in the breeze, making the shadows on the wall sway even more violently.

The creaking sound of the wooden table seemed to coincide with the eerie frequency of the shadowy figure moving on the wall. Even the rough, aged breathing and the boy's groans mixed in with the creaking of the wooden table seemed to overlap strangely, echoing in the dim and cramped confessional hut, making one shudder at the mere sound.

" Father Abraham... can he really grant the blessing?"

"Of course, my son, this is a blessing reserved for the priest, noble and holy. Now, be quiet." Father Abraham's voice sounded old and excited, yet also inexplicably unsettling.

At the very least, one of the two young priests standing outside the cabin waiting looked terrified.

" Norton, what are they doing? Why does Jacob's scream sound so pitiful?" The young priest Karl, who was waiting outside the door, clutched the hem of his clothes with some fear and cautiously asked another young priest who was also young but already showed signs of handsomeness.

The young priest named Norton was now filled with terror, his hands clutching his buttocks, his face deathly pale, and he was inwardly screaming in agony.

Damn it, the netizens weren't lying, there really are priests and boys in this Church!

No way! Everyone else who transmigrates gets a system and gets to lord it over everyone else. How come I'm not only a reincarnation, but I'm also an orphan adopted by the Church? No system is one thing, but now there's a powerful man locking me up?

Norton's face turned deathly pale; he wished he could just smash his head against the wall and die.

Worse still, the sounds and suppressed cries from the small wooden hut where the priests used to confess—that is, the hut where they were confined—gradually subsided, and then a cry that filled Norton with utter despair came from within.

"Phew! Look, thanks to the priest's efforts, we have successfully cooked rice porridge. This is a blessing from God and a manifestation of holiness!"

"Alright, you can go now. Blessings need no washing; this is proof of holiness. Um... Norton? Come, child, you can come into the room too." Abraham seemed to let out a long sigh, followed by the sound of a wooden table creaking, as if someone inside was tidying up something.

Upon hearing Father Abraham's voice from inside, Norton, who was standing at the door, turned ashen-faced and nearly froze.

What to do, what to do? Norton definitely doesn't want to be some kind of supernatural teenager!

" Norton, think of something, think of something!" Norton pounded on the wall anxiously, but perhaps in desperation, an idea suddenly popped into his head.

"Oh dear, Father, I suddenly have a stomachache and need to relieve myself. May I ask Karl to go in first?" With that, Little Norton even let out a loud fart and turned to walk out.

However, just as he turned around, Father Abraham's disgruntled voice came from inside the cabin.

"What, Norton, do you intend to defy the Church's will? You should think carefully about the fate of those apostates!"

These words immediately reminded Norton of the various scenes he had witnessed in the Church over the years of disobedient children being executed, and he was so frightened that he trembled all over.

But then I thought about the consequences of going in, and realized I'd rather be killed by the greatsword!

" Norton!" The stern shout broke Norton's hesitation, and the Father Abraham, who had already pushed open the wooden door revealing his aged face and was about to reach out to pull Norton, made Norton almost jumpy.

In a moment of desperation

"Dudu lala..." A series of farts and diarrhea sounds rang out from outside the door. Little Norton wailed, clutching his stomach, without even taking his pants off, as a series of farts continued.

"Ouch, Father, I've soiled my pants! My stomach really hurts!" Little Norton wailed, secretly pulling his trouser leg open to let the poop roll down, hoping to scare the priest away with this disgusting sight.

However, such a disgusting scene did not make Father Abraham restrain himself; on the contrary, it brought a hint of joy to his wretched and aged face.

"Ha, that makes me like it even more!"

As he spoke, he reached out and grabbed Norton's wrist.

Such disgusting words, such a desperate situation, pushed Little Norton to the limit could no longer bear it. His face contorted with rage, he jumped up and punched Father Abraham in the eye socket with his tiny fist, causing him to howl in pain.

"You fucking toad, Abraham!"

I'm so sorry, everyone. I've kept you all waiting for so long. I've been updating so slowly and inefficiently. It's just that when people rest, they get lazy, and once they're lazy, it's hard to stop. I've been playing games all day. Sigh.

First, regarding the ending, I actually revised it three times. In the first version, Norton was imprisoned by God. God removed his bones and made nails to seal his own body ( Kuba ), and then sealed his soul to the sun ( Jonah ). This would explain the origin of Kuba and Jonah, and that the Shenyin is all of humanity. Finally, Norton's body was nailed to the exhibition hall in a museum, listening to the bustling crowds around him and the prosperity outside the window. Only then did his soul, still awake beneath his imprisoned body, realize that humanity was the Shenyin he had been searching for.

The reason God sealed his physical body is that his body carries reality. Sealing the body is similar to sealing off the constant heat death of reality. Sealing the soul is to seal off the constantly heat-deathing Heaven. In reality, this God is actually just a parasite born from a universal God, similar to a deity. Therefore, he seals off reality and Heaven to isolate himself from heat death.

The second version is the one where Norton triumphs. God is the unified will of the universe, a true God who seeks expansion. Therefore, his goal is to eliminate Norton and all life, allowing the universe to undergo unimpeded entropy increase and gradually mature. This God is evil; he is the only deity who wants to destroy the world. Norton, through his immortal soul constantly dying and fighting, finally finds an opportunity to seal God's flesh and blood, thereby stopping the entropy increase of reality. In this battle, Norton also understands his responsibility and begins to oversee the entire Garden of Eden, creating a true Garden of Eden.

The third version was conceived when writing the third volume. Norton is merely an alarm clock. The Parasite God, due to his excessive omniscience and omnipotence and long-term existence, falls into a state of extreme boredom, even to the point of mental decline. Furthermore, he is a product of the convergence of reality and soul; sealing his flesh is equivalent to sealing reality ( Kuba ), and sealing his soul is equivalent to sealing Heaven ( Jonah ). Norton simply acts as an alarm clock. After all, given the unique nature of Norton's soul, he will inevitably climb to the highest point, and whether for transcendence or due to the boredom of prolonged existence, he will inevitably attempt transcendence as time goes on, thus awakening the Parasite God. Once awakened, the Parasite God can use his omniscience and omnipotence to observe Norton's new storyline, with Norton serving as the alarm clock in this context.

Because Norton cannot devour the Parasite God, and the Parasite God needs to seal itself to stop the increase in entropy and wait for the next cycle to begin a new story, the two are actually on the same side and do not need to fight, which is why this is the ending.

As for why Norton lost his memory, it's because all new memories are composed of particles from this universe. Norton's reincarnation stripped away his entire soul and flesh, so these memories disappeared along with the return of his flesh and soul. It's similar to Norton directly returning to the state he was in when he first entered this universe, leaving only his soul and the memories it carried from before his transmigration. That's why Norton will always be Norton.

Okay, that's the backstory. Let's talk about the ending.

Actually, I originally intended to write it as a wish-fulfillment story, but in the end Norton enjoyed eating everything and became a true god.

But as I wrote, I felt that this bastard was too wicked and didn't deserve such a satisfying ending. However, he was ultimately shaped by his environment and his unrestrained desires. Most importantly, I had developed some feelings for him, and I didn't want him to suffer too much, so I gave him this seemingly cyclical but actually rather tormenting ending.

I won't comment on this ending because it feels contradictory. This ending takes everything into account: the logic of the world-building, Norton's place in the universe, and even its rationality, including entropy increase and psychological factors. But unfortunately, there are no fight scenes.

Actually, I didn't intend to design it this way at first. I envisioned Norton and God fighting until the universe was destroyed, but then I realized it didn't make sense, and that kind of fight would be too low-class. In this world, Existence Level has always determined everything, and there's no need for these kinds of fantasy battle scenes.

Finally, I must apologize to everyone. I was indeed lazy. Also, both the ending and the second and third volumes were written a bit too verbose and padded. I did want to build a world full of details, such as the Church Knights' power armor being novel and technologically advanced in the early stages, and Church later power armor resembling steel canisters, to highlight the changes. But unfortunately, the dry writing was too bland. Perhaps my writing skills are lacking.

Finally, I'd like to mention that I originally planned to start the next book soon, but unfortunately, I haven't been able to decide on a theme yet.

I wanted to write a realistic post-apocalyptic survival story, a post-apocalyptic evolution story, a post-World War I mafia story, and a horror/supernatural story. I've started new books in all three genres, with 200,000 words already in my drafts. Unfortunately, I abandoned two of them after reaching 100,000 words each, feeling like I hadn't captured the essence of what I wanted. I also conceived a more logically sound and novel horror story, with a 20,000-word outline and well-developed logic, but I just can't find the right angle to begin.

I will prepare more thoroughly so that everyone can see better books.

Finally, I wish everyone success in their studies and careers, abundant wealth in their work, and happiness and good health for their families. Happy Mid-Autumn Festival and Happy National Day!
