History

Development and Fish Horse Star Dependence

The Xuan Star Civilization reached the small star sector stage in roughly ten thousand years. Hu Yu concluded that it had developed its spatial technology independently: the Fish Horse Star Civilization withheld such technology from its insect-raising subordinates, and reconnaissance found no captive-breeding planets in Xuan Star territory 164 210.

Its former leader nevertheless accepted a secret arrangement with the Fish Horse Star Civilization under pressure. He refused to raise the Insect Race directly but agreed to assist the Mu Star Civilization. His people did not understand why their civilization was supporting such activities; his earlier achievements and authority helped sustain his position 198 278.

The former leader later explained that he had doubted the galaxy could win against the Insect Race. His choice of alignment grew out of that assessment, although the precise agreement remained secret 280 391.

War with Humanity

Acting for the Fish Horse Star Civilization, Xuan Star forces attacked Luo Zhigao’s fleet. The surviving human ships became trapped in a spatial vortex, while three Xuan Star fleets waited outside. Xuan Star could not safely escape the vortex itself, preventing it from finishing off Luo’s forces directly 139 144 161.

Hu Yu used unmanned Wind Masters and energy spheres to hold the surrounding fleets at bay while slowing the vortex enough for Luo’s ships to escape. Xuan Star retained the advantage in direct combat, but concentrated energy-sphere attacks and warp-speed ramming destroyed millions of its warships 145 146.

Later, Ji Wa and Bi Cha destroyed planets used as apparent human bases and eliminated the remaining Wind Masters. The human transports had actually been buried on an inconspicuous planet, allowing Hu Yu’s forces to survive while Xuan Star believed the threat had been removed 158.

Reconnaissance eventually exposed a far larger civilization than Hu Yu had anticipated. Its fleet and industrial capacity made a conventional human invasion impractical, forcing humanity to seek an environmental advantage instead 164 167.

Destruction of the Original Territory

Human researchers developed a plan to create an artificial spatial vortex inside Xuan Star territory by releasing enormous quantities of pure energy. The proposed energy requirement equaled approximately twenty Sun-sized stars 171 172.

The resulting disaster overwhelmed civilian spacecraft and crippled Xuan Star’s territorial defenses. Within a month, two billion warships rescued more than 300 billion civilians, but over 200 billion people could not be saved. Human Grim Slayers, whose pure-energy propulsion and Reversed State armor performed well in the turbulence, gained the advantage over the larger defending fleet 194 195.

Bi Cha attempted to negotiate while maneuvering stars against the human fleet. The confrontation escalated when Hu Yu placed one hundred energy-sphere transports among the ships carrying Xuan Star’s leadership and population. These transports countered the leader’s threat to detonate the civilization’s antimatter star 196 197.

By the aftermath, Xuan Star had lost nearly 400 million main warships, more than 200 billion people, and over 400 inhabited planets. Another 600-plus planets, containing its industrial foundation, remained endangered inside the vortex. Humanity recovered intact warships and began analyzing their technology 200 202.

Break with the Fish Horse Star Civilization

Mr. Daozi urged humanity to recruit Xuan Star, arguing that its potential outweighed the hostility between them. He identified its current leader as the obstacle to independence from Fish Horse Star 253.

Humanity prepared an assassination operation using stellar explosions to disrupt Xuan Star space. The disturbances inadvertently drew an insect swarm into its territory. Hu Yu ultimately withheld the photon strike, and human Reapers later intervened against the swarm 273 274 275.

After Hu Yu showed allied fleets destroying Fish Horse Star warships in Mu Star territory, the Xuan Star leader renounced the agreement. As its sole keeper, he took his own life to prevent the secret from being exposed and to remove the reason for Fish Horse Star’s hold over his civilization. Bi Cha then ordered twenty billion warships to destroy the nearby Fish Horse Star vessel 280.

Bi Cha assumed temporary leadership and declared the grievances with humanity settled. He nevertheless declined closer ties at that time, choosing to lead his people away from their territory 281.

Wandering and the Wind Star Attack

Xuan Star became a wandering civilization, transporting planets so that its people could continue living outside cramped warships. It moved between stars, stopping to replenish energy while trying to escape Fish Horse Star’s influence 321 326.

The Wind Star Civilization eventually incapacitated its population with a consciousness-impact weapon supplied by Fish Horse Star. The attackers searched for hidden technology and intended to deliver the population to their patron before destroying Xuan Star’s possessions 322 326.

Humanity and Number One’s forces intervened. The new Xuan Star leader, who had remained awake and isolated, learned that his people could recover with proper care. After interrogation confirmed Fish Horse Star’s involvement, he ordered the captured Wind Star attackers killed 324 325 326.

Hu Yu challenged the rescued civilization to abandon resignation and take responsibility for its future. Bi Cha acknowledged that his people had lost their former drive 326.

Joining the Star Ring Alliance

Xuan Star returned to aid humanity with sixty billion warships, and its leader threatened the Hydra Civilization with an antimatter star. Luo Zhigao accepted the reconciliation, choosing not to reopen their old grievances 362 365.

The Xuan Star leader then formally joined the Star Ring Alliance. Its members initially remained reserved around their new partners, conscious of their past actions and indebtedness to humanity 365 386.

Seeking a chance to contribute, Xuan Star deployed twenty billion warships against an approaching insect swarm. Its improved coordinated Space Barrier devastated the swarm’s lower-level creatures, although a giant multiheaded bug survived the attack and broke into the formation. Bi Cha refused to withdraw and requested human assistance against it 386 388.

Campaign Against Fish Horse Star

The desire to erase its former dependence drove a civilization-wide mobilization. Over three hundred years, annual warship production rose from eight million to twenty million, with citizens volunteering across manufacturing, logistics, and research 439.

During the offensive, twenty billion Purgers advanced under human Exterminator cover, using Space Barriers to sweep the region for Fish Horse Star’s hidden base. An antimatter attack from a Purger helped expose the concealed installation 446 448.

Xuan Star then deployed disguised ships and armored warriors to penetrate the defenses. Thirty-seven million warriors were released from thirty-seven Purgers; only a small fraction reached the target planet. Survivors breached an underground structure and captured a Fish Horse Star leader 451 452 453 454 455.

Afterward, Hu Yu disclosed the earlier plan to assassinate Xuan Star’s former leader. The current leader accepted the truth, stating that their years of shared combat had established sufficient trust and that the Star Ring Alliance was the right place for his civilization 460.

Great Star Region Era and Later Wars

Xuan Star continued developing alongside humanity, designing Endeavor warships and beginning fourth-dimensional shipbuilding before attaining Great Star Region status 466 475 499.

Its withdrawal from the defensive line alongside humanity prompted speculation that the two civilizations had become enemies again. Endeavors and Conquerors subsequently fought near Barnard’s Star, but Xuan Star forces also stood with humanity in the Solar System when Fish Horse Star attacked. Bi Cha urged Hu Yu to save his own fleet when the Endeavors could not escape into the fourth dimension 504 505 511.

Bi Cha later followed humanity into danger alone when its destruction appeared imminent. Hu Yu regarded this as proof of a friendship that endured even when helping offered no obvious benefit 517.

Humanity subsequently supplied Xuan Star with repaired space, energy-supply methods, and advanced shipbuilding technology. Its leader pledged lasting loyalty; Hu Yu recalled that Bi Cha had previously committed almost eighty percent of Xuan Star’s fleet to his Sextans A expedition 577.

In the final campaign against Fish Horse Star, Bi Cha and Xuan Star forces helped stabilize a passage through the enemy’s space maze while other civilizations sacrificed ships to open it. The civilization later achieved the galactic level through its own five-dimensional research 674 686.

Space Barrier

A coordinated fleet weapon that tears surrounding space apart, destroying targets caught within its reach 274 388.

  • Original formation requirements: Ships needed carefully arranged positions to stack the effect. The resulting barrier was stronger than humanity’s more flexible imitation 274.
  • Energy and mobility limits: Maintaining the barrier consumed enormous energy and restricted the fleet’s movement 185 274.
  • Later improvement: Ships could form an irregular flat plane while producing ten times the earlier power. Bugs touching the barrier or approaching within 100,000 kilometers were shredded 388.
  • Combat limit: A giant multiheaded bug withstood the barrier and destroyed ships, opening a breach for other high-level creatures 388.
  • Incompatibility: Space Barrier and spatial solidification could not be used simultaneously during the Fish Horse Star campaign 446.

Space Cage and Space Compression

  • Space Cage: Holds space in place to restrain opponents. Unlike the early Space Barrier, its ships were not wholly immersed in spatial turbulence; attacking the formation could force it to collapse 185.
  • Compression attack: Shrinks enemy warships, after which they rapidly expand and break apart. Luo Zhigao reported that his fleet’s defenses could not stop it 142.
  • Influence on humanity: Analysis of captured Space Cage and Space Barrier technology helped human researchers identify a direction for developing Space Shockwave 206.

Localized Spatial Solidification

Feng Ye developed a directional force field that stabilized selected regions without immobilizing friendly ships elsewhere. The force was identified in the narration as Basic Space Force, although Feng Ye did not know its name 440.

  • Weakened incoming energy tides and restricted enemy maneuverability 451.
  • Could be applied locally rather than freezing the entire surrounding region 440.
  • Did not completely immobilize Fish Horse Star warships, which retained limited movement 451.

Propulsion and Energy Weapons

  • Early faster-than-light travel: Ships could reach 3,000 times light speed 142.
  • Spatial-rotation lasers: Ultra-long-range weapons reached 200 million degrees Celsius. Early human Wind Masters lacked equivalent spatial rotation technology 185.
  • Antimatter resources: Maintained an antimatter star important enough to become a central bargaining point during the war with humanity 197 200.
  • Energy-sphere research: Despite more than 3,500 years of study, Xuan Star scientists made no progress from the images and recordings available to them 189.

Warships and Armored Warriors

  • Purgers: Warships used in the offensive against Fish Horse Star, carrying spatial weapons and antimatter bombs. One billion shed outer armor to resemble enemy vessels during an infiltration operation 446 448 451.
  • Endeavors: A later warship design introduced as alliance technology advanced 466.
  • Mechanical combat armor: Protected warriors during the assault on Fish Horse Star’s base. Hu Yu estimated its durability at roughly Second Reversed State strength 453.
  • Infantry infiltration: Small, independently moving warriors were difficult for capital ships to target, allowing survivors to penetrate defenses that larger vessels could not 452 453.
  • Antimatter breaching: A warrior sacrificed himself to blast an opening more than one hundred meters wide into the enemy structure 453.

Higher-Dimensional Industry

  • Began building ships in the fourth dimension before mastering combat there 475.
  • Later adopted human-provided dimensional ascension and injection-molded shipbuilding technologies to accelerate production 577.
  • Independently learned to create five-dimensional space upon reaching the galactic level, but could not yet navigate it 686.

Leadership and Relationships

  • Former Xuan Star leader — Entered the secret Fish Horse Star agreement, ordered the earlier hostility toward humanity, and ultimately sacrificed himself to free his civilization from that arrangement 198 280.
  • Leader Xuan — Successor chosen during the wandering period. Led the civilization into the Star Ring Alliance and later affirmed its commitment to humanity 324 365 460 577.
  • Bi Cha — Senior military commander and temporary wartime leader after the former leader’s death. Directed major campaigns, supported humanity in critical battles, and helped stabilize the final passage through Fish Horse Star’s space maze 281 446 517 674.
  • Feng Ye — Senior figure involved in the civilization’s political and scientific affairs; developed localized spatial stabilization 280 440.
  • Human Civilization / Hu Yu — Former enemy, rescuer, and eventual closest ally. Their relationship developed through catastrophic warfare, repeated rescues, shared campaigns, and technological support 200 325 365 577.
  • Fish Horse Star Civilization — Former patron and coercive partner, later a principal enemy. Continued targeting Xuan Star through subordinate civilizations after the formal break 280 326.
  • Mu Star Civilization — Former partner under Fish Horse Star. Xuan Star stationed approximately 200 million warships in its territory but did not share its practice of raising insect swarms 163 198.
  • Wind Star Civilization — Attacked with a Fish Horse Star consciousness-impact weapon and attempted to steal Xuan Star’s technology 322 326.
  • Star Ring Alliance — Joined formally after assisting humanity. Initial social distance gradually gave way to shared combat and explicit confidence in the alliance 365 386 460.
