Stage / Realm / Level Chapter Notes
Peak Small Star Region civilization — Milky Way branch 87 200 286 Described as one step below Great Star Region civilization. It had remained near the Small Star Region limit for millions of years.
Partial Great Star Region capability — branch 447 Confirmed to possess four-dimensional traversal, placing it “one foot” into the Great Star Region stage; full four-dimensional combat and related technologies were still necessary for complete qualification.
Near the limit of Great Star Region Advanced — main civilization 509 514 520 The main force reveals itself after the branch’s destruction. Its strength is not a sudden advancement by the branch, but the exposure of a previously hidden civilization.
Galaxy-Level combat capability — reinforcement warships 667 Newly arrived ships possess Galaxy-Level strength. This establishes the capability of those vessels, not a confirmed civilization-wide promotion.

Background and Origins

The Fish Horse Star Civilization arose from the Doomsday and Knight Civilizations. Under pressure from the Snow Tribe, the two established a lasting partnership and gradually merged. Genetic modification combined their peoples into a new species, producing descendants who could operate under the Fish Horse Star identity without exposing the surviving original inhabitants 619 694.

Most citizens believed they had evolved naturally, as their textbooks taught. Only a small circle knew of their engineered ancestry or the continued existence of the two predecessor civilizations 622. Hu Yu eventually confirmed that connection through the civilization’s stolen data and its use of the Knight Civilization’s Space Maze technology 625 661.

Although its ancestors were Milky Way civilizations, the main Fish Horse Star population was born elsewhere and therefore lacked the Milky Way’s native Consciousness Field. Its locally born branch did possess that field and counted as a Milky Way civilization 626.

Objectives

Freedom from the Insect Emperor

The Insect Emperor’s Secondary Body controlled the lives and deaths of Fish Horse Star’s people through their consciousness, but could not read every individual’s thoughts. The civilization raised insects both to study the Insect Emperor and to feed its captor 676.

  • The Secondary Body imposed quotas for eliminating low-level civilizations. Fish Horse Star used proxies to carry out those attacks rather than openly violate Great Star Region restrictions 676.
  • Humanity’s appearance offered a possible route to freedom. Fish Horse Star repeatedly opposed Hu Yu without completely eliminating him, partly out of caution toward Daozi and partly to use humanity against the Secondary Body 676.
  • The Second Leader ultimately gambled on sacrificing the branch to secure the civilization’s release 676.

Seizure of the Milky Way’s Consciousness

The civilization’s ultimate black-hole operation was more specific than the destruction Hu Yu initially feared: it intended to replace the Milky Way’s Black Hole Consciousness with a controllable false consciousness 529 661.

  • The Super Fortress contained a black hole with an artificial consciousness comparable to an extremely sophisticated simulation 661.
  • Once installed in place of the galactic consciousness, it would allow Fish Horse Star to read the original consciousness’s memories and acquire its knowledge 661.
  • Control would also grant power over the life and death of individual beings and entire civilizations 661.

History

Proxy Rule and Early Conflict with Humanity

Fish Horse Star maintained a network of subordinate civilizations that raised insects and attacked other societies on its behalf. Wind Star accepted technology promising a breakthrough beyond its stagnant Star System level in exchange for maintaining five insect-feeding bases 91. Its activities eventually turned more than ten thousand nearby low-level civilizations into insect food 676.

Humanity’s first encounter with Fish Horse Star’s Patrols cost sixteen Polaris ships and more than eighty million lives. A later pursuit struck Earth Two, killing more than five billion people and injuring another billion. Dongdong and Ninety-Seven respectively helped humanity survive these encounters 572.

At Wind Star, Hu Yu used the threat of exposure to force Fish Horse Star to stop hunting humans and turn against its client. Its representative demanded half of humanity as collateral, but Hu Yu refused. Fish Horse Star nevertheless accepted the arrangement, ordered Wind Star’s warships to self-destruct, and killed its resisting head of state through an attacking projection 90.

The resulting balance depended on mutual deterrence: Fish Horse Star feared humanity broadcasting its secret, while humanity knew it could not survive unrestricted retaliation 156 202.

Mu Star and Xuan Star

Fish Horse Star’s superiority became clear during humanity’s attack on Mu Star. One hundred of its warships survived energy-sphere bombardment without moving; explosive transport-ship attacks merely hurled them hundreds of kilometers without damaging them 200.

The Star Ring Alliance later developed a way to destroy the ships through sustained electron and antimatter attacks. Hu Yu showed the battle to Xuan Star’s leadership, prompting its leader to renounce Fish Horse Star and take his own life to protect its secret. Bi Cha then ordered twenty billion Xuan Star warships to destroy the Fish Horse Star vessel in their territory 269 279 280.

Fish Horse Star did not immediately retaliate: the Second Leader insisted that its larger plan took precedence 280. It later supplied Wind Star with a consciousness-impact weapon and sent it to capture Xuan Star’s population, destroy its possessions, and seize its technology. Human intervention defeated that operation 325 326.

Destruction of the Milky Way Branch

The Heavenly Peak Civilization eventually located the branch’s concealed base. Acting through Erguan, it asked Hu Yu to attack while observers watched for unusual behavior from a suspected Great Star Region sponsor 436 437.

Humanity and Xuan Star launched a joint expedition of 320 billion warships. Wind Star reinforced the defenders with 300 billion ships, alongside 50 billion Fish Horse Star warships at the base 445 448. The attackers penetrated the spatial passages, exposed the hidden system, and struck its inhabited planets 447 449.

During the collapse, Fish Horse Star’s fleet abandoned planets containing more than a quadrillion inhabitants and concentrated around a command ship over 400 kilometers long. A gigantic insect emerged from a star and attacked the retreating defenders 458.

The captured administrative leader died before interrogation, and other important personnel killed themselves as well. Humanity recovered wreckage and an administrative planet, but not the civilization’s technology tree 461 465. Elsewhere, a Fish Horse Star being celebrated freedom after more than two million years—a sign that the destroyed force had not been the whole civilization 461.

Revelation of the Main Civilization

The main fleet appeared during the battle for the Solar System and explicitly identified the destroyed civilization as its branch. It thanked humanity for helping secure its freedom, then attacked to demonstrate its claim to galactic supremacy 509.

This disproved the assumption that one of the Milky Way’s five Great Star Region civilizations had been Fish Horse Star’s hidden sponsor: the power behind the branch was Fish Horse Star itself 510.

Its dimensional warfare overwhelmed humanity and Xuan Star. Humanity escaped after catastrophic losses, while news of Fish Horse Star’s strength spread throughout the galaxy 511 519. Hu Yu subsequently rallied Alliance Space against the extragalactic threat and urged reinforcement of the central black hole’s defenses 529.

War over the Super Fortress

Academician Xiao located the main stronghold inside a star associated with the Crimson Flame Civilization. Hu Yu then assembled representatives from more than a hundred civilizations to prepare an attack 572 573.

The campaign exposed the Super Fortress and its captive supermassive black hole. Conventional attacks and Virtual Matter failed to damage it, and its scientists eventually enabled it to advance toward the Milky Way 581 585. A period of distorted time gave the defenders a research opportunity, but the fortress resumed operations and received assistance from the Mechanical Civilization 591 601.

As attackers found structural weaknesses, the old patriarchs supplied Space Maze equipment. Powered by the black hole, it concealed the fortress and trapped or reflected attacks. The fortress then departed Boötes at fifty times light speed 619 622.

Fish Horse Star later captured the Mechanical Lord after he attacked the fortress and made him its enforcer. Additional Fish Horse Star reinforcements included warships with Galaxy-Level strength 662 667.

Collapse of the Fortress and Continued Resistance

Galactic civilizations sacrificed fleets to breach the Space Maze, allowing the Slaughterer, Expeller, and a giant silver warship to advance toward the fortress’s black hole 674.

Li Shun used Fish Horse Star’s consciousness research to seize control of the Insect Emperor before its creators could do so. The Insect Emperor and galactic fleet destroyed the protective barrier, causing the fortress to break apart and fall into its own black hole 676.

Mu Tang refused to surrender the fleet to Li Shun, ordered Ci Ma to take the people back, and received an offer from an unidentified group to help seize the Black Hole Consciousness 676. He later resorted to the population’s stored consciousness energy, killing countless Fish Horse Star beings despite his personal attachment to their lives 682.

Technology and Military Capabilities

Spatial and Dimensional Warfare

Fish Horse Star’s principal weapons manipulate space rather than relying solely on direct energy damage 258 511 515.

  • Spatial cutting: Early ships could disregard First Reversed State Armor. Main-fleet weapons could carve enormous wounds into Great Star Region warships 258 515.
  • Shattered-space defense: Broken space around main-fleet vessels disoriented matter, light, and force fields, while interfering with fragile two-dimensional weapons 511.
  • Dimensional control: The main fleet could seal space and dimensions; its four-dimensional technology surpassed that of the Milky Way’s five Great Star Region Advanced civilizations 514 578.
  • Coordinated spatial defense: Large formations could neutralize antimatter and high-energy electron attacks that were effective against smaller isolated groups 269.

Space Compression and Concealment

The branch could compress its enormous base into the apparent space of a star. Its fleets used multiple distant passage exits to conceal the base’s true location 436 441.

  • At least six passages connected the branch base to surrounding space 441.
  • The exposed base contained over a thousand stars and hundreds of thousands of planets 448.
  • Critical space-cutting and compression equipment carried safeguards that prevented useful components from surviving ship destruction 443.
  • Humanity eventually reverse-engineered both technologies from later battlefield salvage 465.

Consciousness Research

The civilization developed consciousness-impact weapons and used them both directly and through client civilizations 326 618.

  • Proxy armament: A recently developed device enabled Wind Star to defeat Xuan Star 326.
  • Planetary protection: Consciousness-impact systems operated alongside electromagnetic shielding 453.
  • Research priority: Consciousness studies supported its attempts to escape the Insect Emperor and seize galactic consciousness 661 676.
  • Weakness: Its defenses against Consciousness Fields were less developed than its offensive research 594.

Super Fortress and Space Maze

The Super Fortress was the civilization’s central strategic investment, consuming more than ninety-nine percent of its time and energy during its construction effort 609.

  • Black-hole reinforcement: The enclosed black hole strengthened the fortress; detached fragments lacked that reinforcement and were much easier to damage 623.
  • Internal defenses: Energy beams could fire inward against invaders as well as outward 617.
  • Population habitat: Its outer interlayer housed bases and tens of thousands of inhabited planets 617.
  • Space Maze: Inherited from the Knight Civilization, this system concealed the fortress and trapped or reflected ships and attacks 622 625.
  • Critical vulnerability: Damage to the inner containment layer could cause the entire structure to fall into the black hole 618.

Manufacturing and Planetary Mobility

  • Element production: Advanced manufacturing used decay or fusion to turn available elements into required materials 448.
  • Conventional construction: The branch avoided drawing energy from the fourth dimension for fleet production because its compressed base required spatial stability 448.
  • Mobile inhabited planets: Main-civilization planets could leave their orbits and rapidly approach the central containment sphere during emergencies 600.

Relationships

  • Human Civilization / Hu Yu — Longstanding enemy, but also an unwitting instrument in the plan to escape the Insect Emperor. Humanity destroyed the branch and later led resistance against the main civilization 461 509 573 676.
  • Wind Star Civilization — Technologically supported client, insect breeder, and military proxy. It carried out attacks that Fish Horse Star could not openly undertake 91 326 676.
  • Mu Star Civilization — Insect-raising subordinate protected by Fish Horse Star warships; destroyed by the allied fleet 200 280 325.
  • Xuan Star Civilization — Former coerced partner and enforcer. Its leader’s suicide ended cooperation, after which its forces fought alongside humanity 254 279 280 445.
  • Insect Emperor’s Secondary Body — Former controller and recipient of cultivated insects. Fish Horse Star secretly researched ways to escape its power 676.
  • Doomsday and Knight Civilizations — Ancestral civilizations whose surviving original inhabitants remained hidden behind their descendants 619 622 661.
  • Heavenly Peak Civilization / Daozi — Arranged the attack on the branch to expose its supposed sponsor and eliminate its insect-breeding operation 436 437.
  • Justice League / Guan Sengping — Opportunistic negotiating partner. Guan agreed to assist against Dark Moon while intending eventually to destroy a weakened Fish Horse Star 563 566.
  • Mechanical Civilization — Initially reinforced the fortress; its leader was later captured and converted into Fish Horse Star’s enforcer 617 662.
  • Li Shun — Stole official brainwave information and consciousness research, then used those discoveries to preempt Fish Horse Star’s plans for the Insect Emperor 622 676.
