Intermediate magic lessons 5 Studies spells such as Gust, deliberately slowing his apparent learning speed to conceal his actual ability.

Background and History

Reincarnation and Early Training

Rudeus retains memories of an ordinary, introverted previous life and knowledge of the world’s original story. Reincarnation gives him a system, divine blessings, and a grimoire recording the universe’s magic. He chooses Levitation as a discreet way to consume mana continuously and develop his reserves, while presenting himself to his family as a quiet, obedient child 1 4 9.

After he destroys part of a storeroom wall with Water Splash, his parents arrange a combined education: magic with Roxy and swordsmanship with Paul. He conceals the full extent of his talent so that Roxy can continue teaching him without being overwhelmed. Her departure after his Saint Rank trial deeply upsets him 2 4 5 13.

Sylphie and the Move to Roa

Rudeus rescues Sylphiette from children bullying her over her hair color, then teaches her magic, physical training, and confidence. When Paul initially condemns him for fighting, Rudeus challenges his father’s judgment and explains that he was protecting someone weaker. Paul apologizes after hearing the circumstances 15 21.

At seven, Rudeus accepts employment as Eris Boreas Greyrat’s tutor in Roa. The arrangement pays two silver coins monthly and promises funding for Ranoa University of Magic after five years. Before leaving, he encourages Sylphie to become independent and promises to return for her 23 24.

House Boreas and the Primordial God Identity

Rudeus offers Philip assistance with House Boreas’s succession ambitions in exchange for an unspecified future favor. His rescue of the kidnapped Eris wins her enthusiasm for his lessons, and he begins teaching her and Ghislaine the principles of Magic Sword Style 24 27 28.

At the Floating Fortress, Rudeus combines his knowledge of the Dragon God Tongue with flight, cloning, and transformation to convince Perugius that he represents the Primordial God. The detailed account explicitly presents much of his explanation as improvisation. Perugius nevertheless accepts him and his companions as honored guests 34 35.

Rudeus later publicly announces himself as both Eris’s fiancé and the Primordial God’s incarnation at her birthday ball. His fame spreads, generating increasing quantities of Emotion Points. By his eighteenth birthday, he has also completed three books on magic and swordsmanship and protected them with anti-theft curses 42 49.

Teleport Incident and the Demon Continent

The Teleport Incident scatters Fittoa’s inhabitants across the world despite Rudeus’s efforts to protect Eris. They awaken on the Demon Continent, where Rujierd offers to escort them home. Concerned about the Man-God’s surveillance, Rudeus acquires divine concealment before continuing the journey 53 56.

His priorities expand from returning home to locating refugees and preparing for Laplace’s possible early resurrection. He summons Yanli, whose clones become central to his search network, and recruits Kishirika against the Man-God by promising to lift her curse 60 67 80 85.

Alliances, Family Search, and Return

Rudeus rescues enslaved beastfolk children, revives one who has died, and frees the Sacred Beast. Chief Gustav pledges his clan’s assistance after Rudeus declares his intention to prevent a world-destroying calamity. Rudeus later appoints Nahida as a continental guardian and seeks further allies among the Long-Ear Race and Mine Race 89 91 98 110.

He recovers Lilia and Aisha in Shirone, reunites with Paul and Norn, and identifies Zenith’s location as the Teleportation Labyrinth on the Begaritt Continent. To overcome the journey’s distance, he spends one billion Emotion Points on a World Transition Device 126 127.

After returning to Asura, Rudeus parts amicably with Rujierd and confronts the destruction of Fittoa. His refugee searches, donated supplies, and reputation have already helped the territory recover. He plans to head north to recruit a force against the Demon God and orders Yanli to prepare a labyrinth 134 136.

Later Labyrinth Expedition and Orsted

Rudeus explores a hidden labyrinth with Roxy and Eris, later helping Roxy fight a boulder golem while evading its attacks with apparent ease. He subsequently encounters Orsted, recognizes their shared opposition to the Man-God, and hopes to avoid conflict. A fight nevertheless follows, during which Orsted is surprised by both his physique and his Intangibility magic; the supplied passage ends before a resolution 138 140 142.

Appearance

  • Build: Approximately two meters tall by his visit to the Mine Race 110.
  • Hair and eyes: Short brown hair and clear green eyes 110.
  • Features: Described as handsome; God-Caressed Cheeks explicitly enhances his natural appearance 1 110.
  • Clothing: Regularly enchants his garments; wears a tailored black noble’s formal outfit for Eris’s birthday banquet 14 16 40.

Personality

Rudeus treasures the affection of his new family and sees his second life as an opportunity to overcome his former timidity. Protecting those close to him becomes a persistent motivation, extending from his younger sisters and Sylphie to refugees and threatened communities 9 22 23 85 91.

He is calculating about how others perceive him. He hides his full power during childhood lessons, uses spectacular demonstrations to motivate Eris, and invents a divine explanation for his abilities when negotiating with Perugius. His theatricality also serves a practical purpose: admiration and surprise generate Emotion Points 4 5 27 28 34 49.

As a teacher, Rudeus combines patience with a strong preference for independence. He guides Sylphie through both magical technique and self-confidence, warns Roxy against measuring ordinary students by his standards, and refuses to let Sylphie remain entirely dependent on him 15 19 22 23.

His compassion coexists with ruthlessness. He kills hostile intruders and child traffickers, and Roxy struggles to reconcile his familiar tenderness with the bloody violence she witnesses after their reunion. He also feels responsibility for failures he could not prevent, particularly Fittoa’s destruction 67 84 89 134.

Abilities & Skills

System and Emotion Points

Rudeus’s system displays his statistics, blessings, and Emotion Points and provides access to a shop 1 4 11.

  • Strong reactions from others—including admiration, shock, and affection—award points 28 34 142.
  • Purchases include aptitude improvements, skill-mastery potions, weapons, mana-expansion potions, and transportation devices 4 30 38 58 104 127.
  • He uses mathematics and language potions to accelerate his students’ education, and a dance-mastery potion to give Eris ballroom knowledge and muscle memory 30 38.
  • Expensive purchases materially reduce his available reserves; the World Transition Device alone costs one billion points 127.

Divine Blessings

Blessing Effect
God-Caressed Cheeks Enhances natural looks and increases the rate at which he gains favor from the opposite sex 1.
God-Gushing Tear Glands Increases mana recovery speed by 10000% 1.

  • Uses voiceless casting across elemental, support, and utility magic 4 10 28.
  • Adjusts power through mana investment and precise control; even his Advanced Rank Hellfire Fireball surprises Orsted with its output 6 142.

  • Recognizes the collateral danger of powerful spells and regrets the devastation left by one of his battles 12 74.

Magic Sword Style and Touki

Rudeus develops a fighting approach that combines swordsmanship, physical enhancements, and direct magical manipulation of weapons 2 28 71.

  • Stacks Strength Boost, Speed Boost, Defense Boost, and Self-Healing Boost 2.
  • Coats a sword in compressed magical fire without using Touki 28.
  • Duplicates and remotely controls five longswords—the number he can comfortably manage at that stage 20.
  • Experiments with detonating unstable mana on a blade; its comparison to a nuclear explosion is theoretical, not a documented feat 71.
  • Can reshape combat equipment with magic, including forming a self-restoring ice scythe on his staff 71.
  • His physical strength surprises Orsted even during direct close combat 142.

Magic Circles and Enchanting

Rudeus inscribes reusable spell effects into objects and develops layered composite arrays 14 16.

  • Enchants clothing for temperature regulation, cleaning, repair, mana storage, and shielding 14 16.
  • Adds physical and perceptual enhancements to everyday garments 14.
  • Teaches Sylphie how to inscribe Wind’s Protection without damaging fabric or causing backlash 19.
  • Places anti-theft curses on his books 49.

Spatial Magic, Flight, and Intangibility

Rudeus uses spatial storage and magical flight for both combat and long-distance travel 28 98 127.

  • Magic Pocket: Opens a spatial fissure for storing and retrieving weapons and supplies 22 28 63.
  • Flying swords: Carries himself and companions; a later giant sword can comfortably transport ten people beneath a weather-blocking barrier 58 98.
  • Wall passage: Moves through solid rock while exploring underground 129.
  • Intangibility: Demonstrates an unusual defensive effect against Orsted, while acknowledging its limited offensive value 142.

Perception, Telekinesis, and Defense

His perception magic constructs a detailed three-dimensional awareness of his surroundings 39 129.

  • Detects creatures and small movements within several hundred meters during labyrinth exploration 39.
  • Locates kidnapped Eris through a carriage and arrests the vehicle’s impending crash with Telekinetic Object Manipulation 27.
  • Immobilizes an attacker with an invisible force field 67.
  • Uses Magic Devouring to consume incoming lightning 32.
  • Maintains a shield that responds to fatal attacks even when he cannot clearly perceive their source 32.

Summoning, Clones, and Transformation

Rudeus combines personal disguise magic with summoned assistance 4 64 67.

  • Uses invisibility, cloning, and transformation 4 35 40.
  • Gives Rujierd a pink bowl cut so townspeople laugh at his appearance instead of immediately fearing him 64.
  • Summons Yanli, whose convincing clones support reconnaissance, refugee searches, and covert protection 67 85 123.
  • Establishes temporary monster-summoning sites for Eris and Rujierd’s combat training 71.

Healing, Restoration, and Crafting

Rudeus applies magic to practical work as readily as to combat 10 31 89.

  • Restores damaged farmland with exceptionally precise voiceless earth magic 10.
  • Manipulates metal elements to forge a finely structured sword 31.
  • Treats seasickness and revives a dead child with God Rank Healing Magic 85 89.
  • Teaches Delicious Magic, which improves the taste of unpleasant food and can be cast without chanting 60.
  • Replenishes Kishirika’s depleted mana through a direct transfer 80.
