Background / History

In an earlier existence, Su Chen was the Lord of the God Realm. After he was surrounded and killed, the Heavenly Dao of the Great Void Universe preserved a wisp of his divine soul so that he could live another life. The Heavenly Dao explains that the God Realm would need him when Catastrophe returned 954.

Su Chen also remembers a life on Earth, where he died from overwork. Reborn into the immortal-realm Su Household, he became the patriarch’s son and knew about his system while still in his mother’s womb. Unlike a task-driven system, it spent eighteen years giving him treasures and cultivation increases without demanding anything in return 1.

Determined not to repeat his exhausting Earth life, he devoted himself to food, wine, travel, and leisure. The household’s higher-ups, dissatisfied with his refusal to cultivate despite his exceptional talent, banished him to the lower realm until he reached Saint Realm. He welcomed the freedom and spent ten years sightseeing before meeting the seven-year-old Ye Lingxi in Jiangnan City. His warmth is highly selective. He is gentle and patient with family, but frequently indifferent toward strangers and ruthless toward people who offend him. He refuses the assumption that he must rescue someone merely because she is beautiful, and he kills an academy instructor immediately after the instructor challenges him 32 35 917.

As a teacher, he deliberately limits his intervention. He wants disciples to develop their own judgment and strength rather than treat him as a permanent solution to danger. This principle culminates in staging his death to force Lin Fan, Jianxin, and Ye Lingxi to become independent 186 558 833.
