Personality
Jianxin pursues swordsmanship with intense enthusiasm. At their first meeting, he sincerely asks Su Chen for a duel and becomes more eager to fight after discovering the enormous gap between them. Even serious injuries can intensify his determination rather than frighten him into submission 181 266 267.
His attachment to others outweighs personal advantage. He initially refuses the Light Scar Sword because his original weapon has accompanied him for eighteen years. He also defies Su Chen’s orders to save Lin Fan and later risks his body and soul to protect Bai Luo Xue 182 200 533 534.
Despite his talent, Jianxin can acknowledge defeat. He uses an ordinary sword against an assessment opponent to avoid an unfair weapon advantage, credits stronger geniuses rather than boasting, and thanks Zhou Qian’er for showing mercy after she defeats him. His humility inspires one opponent to reconsider his arrogance and gain an epiphany 262 309.
His greatest weakness is reckless persistence. He refuses to seek Su Chen’s help against a Golden Immortal beast because he believes he must resolve the trouble he has accepted. Bai Luo Xue later observes that he treats his own life as expendable and often retreats only because she can no longer continue 269 528.
History
Meeting Su Chen and Receiving an Inheritance
Jianxin grows up under the care of the Ten Thousand Swords Sect’s master and elders, eventually becoming its strongest disciple—even stronger than its elders. While exploring a secret realm, he encounters Su Chen and challenges him, only to have his opening strike caught between two fingers 181 209 214.
After becoming Su Chen’s disciple, Jianxin initially rejects the Light Scar Sword out of loyalty to his original weapon. During his subsequent duel with Lin Fan, that weapon cracks and shatters. Its final message urges him to accept a better sword and pursue his ambition. Jianxin then continues with the Light Scar Sword, eventually conceding because Lin Fan has not yet used his special physique 182 183.
Inside a scroll, a mysterious black-clad man transmits the memory of a sword strike to him. Jianxin tests it by splitting a mountain and tearing open space-time, naming the technique Formless One Sword. He and Lin Fan agree to exchange sword techniques, and Jianxin subsequently reaches the peak of the False Immortal Realm through the wooden hut’s inheritance 192 193.
From the Ten Thousand Swords Sect to the Sword Sect
Jianxin intervenes when Lin Fan faces death, despite Su Chen’s order not to help. He defeats Wang Hui and Elder Bai, but Xia Jiuyou later overwhelms him. Jianxin refuses Xia Jiuyou’s offer to spare him in exchange for the Light Scar Sword and allegiance to the Purple Mansion Holy Land, suffering a near-fatal beating 200 201 202.
He later brings Su Chen to the Ten Thousand Swords Sect and introduces him as his master. When Tang Yan recruits him for the Sword Sect, Jianxin thanks the sect master and elders for raising him and promises never to forget them 209 210 214.
At the Sword Sect assessment, Jianxin defeats a True Immortal Realm Ninth Stage Peak woman and a Heavenly Immortal youth. His subsequent trials include protecting Wang Teng from a Golden Immortal beast and practicing on Star Spirit Peak after Su Chen becomes a Sword Sect elder 262 269 274 285.
Cross-Realm Battles and a Lesson in Humility
Jianxin kills He Qingfeng after the latter openly admits intending to kill him. His growing strength also draws hostile attention from the Setting Sun Sect, whose leaders fear what he may become 291 302.
At the Profound Immortal Realm Third Stage, he fights a Golden Immortal Realm Fifth Stage elder associated with the Fire God Sect. Jianxin burns his body to unleash a thousandfold Return to One. Although the clash destroys his physical body, he burns his remaining soul and kills the wounded elder 302 303.
Su Chen later arranges a duel with Zhou Qian’er to curb Jianxin’s growing confidence. Even after two breakthroughs, Jianxin loses and accepts responsibility for his own shortcomings. Further battles reinforce his limits: Xu Yuan leaves him unconscious and dying, while Immortal Saint opponents overwhelm him despite his ability to threaten much stronger cultivators 308 309 318 319 320 335.
Barbarian Continent Trials
After Bai Luoyao draws him into conflict with the Barbarian Clan, Jianxin fights its experts and receives a spatial ring from her as compensation. Against an Immortal Saint Barbarian, he burns his body and soul, temporarily reaching the Immortal Lord Realm Sixth Stage and nearly landing a decisive strike before an outside force stops him 363 364 365 366.
Su Chen then orders the Barbarian Continent’s factions to hunt Jianxin as training. He explains that constant reliance on protection would blunt Jianxin’s potential and prevent him from surpassing his master. Jianxin promises to face future crises without calling for help 372.
By the later trials, Jianxin travels with Bai Luo Xue and has reached Immortal Saint Realm Ninth Level Peak. Their relationship becomes intimate, and he burns his body and soul to protect her against Chu Yu and hundreds of golden-armored Immortal Venerable experts 528 533 534.
Seabed Cultivation and the Genius Battle
Jianxin later cultivates beneath the sea and battles fierce beasts, appearing with his left arm missing. An inheritance subsequently confines him inside a hall until he comprehends a stone stele. His desire to return to Bai Luo Xue drives him to resist the confinement and eventually break out 715 771 790.
Fearing she has married someone else, he forces his way into the Bai Household and battles its Immortal Sovereign elders. He deliberately spares them because killing her relatives would hurt her. Bai Zhenyue reveals that Bai Luo Xue has waited decades for him and is cultivating at Yingtian Academy. Learning that Su Chen has secretly helped him also leaves Jianxin remorseful 790 791 792.
During the Genius Battle, Jianxin fights Shen Chuzhao and later battles Lin Fan to a standstill before conceding first. A subsequent enlightenment significantly strengthens his Sword Dao 797 798 803 805.
God Realm and the Destruction of His Sect
During the later conflict, Jianxin and Lin Fan jointly resist a fish-headed Transcendence expert. After entering the God Realm, Jianxin is forcibly accepted as a disciple by the Sword God, a patriarch of the Heavenly Evolution Sword Sect. A hundred years later, he defeats every contemporary prodigy who challenges him 822 832.
When the Heavenly Evolution Sword Sect is destroyed, the Sword God forces Jianxin to escape, insisting that survival gives him a chance to avenge the sect. The Nether Ghost Hall, Imperial Court, and Heavenly Ruins Sword Pavilion continue hunting him because they fear his future strength 920.
Jianxin burns his body and soul while fleeing their experts, killing several pursuers before reaching his limit. Lin Fan arrives just before the killing blow and stabilizes him with a healing pill 921 922.
The three factions later place a bounty on Jianxin and Lin Fan. After another twenty years, Jianxin learns that the Heavenly Pivot Academy’s Saintess has destroyed all three. Although their destruction removes his enemies, he regrets losing the opportunity to avenge the Sword God and his sect personally 938 946.

- Cannot automatically overcome major realm gaps: Xia Jiuyou and Xu Yuan shatter the attack 202 320.
Burning Body and Soul
