Lin Fan grew up without knowing his parents. The Ye Household adopted him because of his exceptional cultivation talent, but he was never genuinely well liked there. After his cultivation collapsed, he endured three years of beatings, humiliation, and deprivation 57 384 757.

Su Chen approached him after witnessing his mistreatment in Seven Stars City. Lin Fan subsequently became his disciple and embraced the Dao of Slaughter. Before letting him travel independently, Su Chen instructed him to kill only those who harbored killing intent toward him 57 58 59.

Early Trials and Training

Lin Fan’s independent travels brought him into conflict with numerous sects after he killed disciples who had intended to kill him. Surrounded by more than a hundred experts, he broke through under pressure and manifested bloodline power when their attacks nearly overwhelmed him 62 63.

He later challenged Shangguan Clan prodigies, defeating Shangguan Xiong and fighting Shangguan Yunqing evenly. Shangguan Jing’ang, who had doubted him, acknowledged that he was worthy of Shangguan Wenya 67.

While protecting Meng Yu, Lin Fan fought a Saint King Realm waiter beyond his ability to defeat. Su Chen caught him as his body began breaking apart and restored him with a pill 71 72. A subsequent year of training with Nan Yun, Luo Lan, and Jian Wuhen culminated in his Quasi-Emperor breakthrough 84 85.

Physique Awakening and Emperor’s Road

After learning that he possessed the Desolate Ancient Divine Physique, Lin Fan sought Su Chen’s help awakening it. He endured two hours of pain before releasing an ancient presence and heavenly phenomena that alarmed the Su Clan 95.

On Emperor’s Road, a mysterious soul offered to take him as her disciple. Lin Fan refused out of loyalty to Su Chen, though she later imparted the Immortal-Slaying Sword-Drawing Technique 102 103. Su Chen also deliberately increased his difficulties by ordering experts to spread a rumor that he possessed a supreme treasure, drawing powerful pursuers to him 106.

Lin Fan killed Xiao He and subsequently attacked a dragon with a sword strike combining Sword Intent, ancient power, and bloodline power 112 113. Su Chen later identified the slain dragon as the Dragon Clan’s Ninth Prince and warned that a curse allowed the clan to track him 169.

Jianxin and the Cost of Trust

Lin Fan developed a close rivalry with fellow disciple Jianxin. Their early duel ended when Jianxin conceded after realizing Lin Fan had not yet activated his special physique 183.

During an inheritance expedition, Lin Fan relinquished an inheritance opportunity so Jiang Xin could receive it. Su Chen condemned the decision, leaving him uncertain whether he had acted correctly 193. When Elder Bai and Wang Hui later betrayed and attacked him, Su Chen withheld assistance to force him to experience hardship. Upper Immortal Realm and Dangerous Enhancements

After entering the Upper Immortal Realm, Lin Fan faced a Dragon Clan Immortal Saint whose pressure overwhelmed him despite his physique and bloodline. Liu Mengli emerged to protect him, but her soul dissipated during the conflict. Lin Fan attacked in grief before being gravely wounded himself; Su Chen arrived to catch him 240 243 244 245 246. Liu Mengli was present again when he recovered, and Su Chen had left him a dragon corpse as a cultivation resource 256.

While searching Youzhou for the Purple Lightning Nether Flame, Lin Fan encountered increasingly powerful ghosts 380. His pursuit of a hostile young man led to battles against Gui Ming and an old man, during which he forcibly raised his cultivation far beyond its previous level. Su Chen intervened before he and Liu Mengli were killed and helped limit the resulting backlash 385 386 388 389 391.

Yingtian Academy and the Immortal Palace

Lin Fan’s academy examination was sabotaged by Wang Chu, who used his connections after Lin Fan defeated him in an earlier confrontation. Elder Xu suppressed and severely injured Lin Fan when he protested the unfair result 557.

At the Immortal Palace, Lin Fan’s bloodline overwhelmed his reason. He attacked and badly injured Youyue before Su Chen subdued him. After recovering, he apologized and promised not to use the bloodline recklessly. Su Chen told him that understanding its origin depended on finding his parents 660 661.

War and Family Revelations

The Spacetime Battlefield suited Lin Fan’s Dao of Slaughter, allowing him to cultivate through sustained combat against the Devil Race. Over seven years, he became a renowned fighter whose achievements spread fear among his enemies 716 750.

A white-robed man later identified himself as Lin Fan’s uncle, with their bloodlines resonating in confirmation. Lin Fan resented the explanation that his parents had left him because they had other matters to handle. His uncle privately admitted to Su Chen that they had intended him to suffer mortal hardships to temper his state of mind 756 757.

Su Chen eventually moved him to another battlefield when the Spacetime Battlefield could no longer support his growth. Over the following two years, Lin Fan obtained numerous inheritances and accumulated weapons 762 768. Su Chen refused a God Clan request to take him away, insisting that Lin Fan had to face the coming great calamity 771.

Genius Battle and Su Chen’s Apparent Death

In the Genius Battle, Lin Fan and Jianxin fought to a standstill before Jianxin conceded. Lin Fan then faced Su Jianxi, who disarmed and overwhelmingly injured him 803 804. In a later episode of qi deviation, Lin Fan attacked Su Chen, who suppressed and restored him 819.

Lin Fan subsequently helped Jianxin kill a fish-headed Transcendence expert. When more enemies surrounded them, he burned his body and divine soul to cover Jianxin’s retreat 822 823 824.

Believing Su Chen had died defending Canglan Star, Lin Fan nearly charged after the enemy in a frenzy. Shen Li and Xiao Jing stopped him, urging him to grow stronger rather than die pointlessly. He later refused Shen Xiao’s invitation to the Divine Clan, choosing to rely on his own abilities 830 831.

Forbidden Land of Death

Later reunited with Su Chen, Lin Fan traveled to the Forbidden Land of Death to obtain a Divine Spirit Flower for the injured Jianxin. Su Chen supplied an ark that reduced the journey from centuries to approximately one year 925.

After years of danger, Lin Fan found flowers beside a strange palace. Their guardian broke the Bloodthirst Sword and defeated him despite his life-burning enhancement, but a voice ordered that he be brought inside alive 940 942.

Lin Fan returned with numerous Divine Spirit Flowers and an inheritance from a senior who also cultivated through slaughter. Su Chen used the flowers to refine divine-soul healing pills for him and Jianxin 946 947. By his subsequent battle against the Catastrophes, Lin Fan had learned to activate his bloodline without losing his reason 955.

Lin Fan is deeply loyal to Su Chen and measures much of his progress against his master’s expectations. He rejects another master’s offer because Su Chen gave him his new life, and he cultivates relentlessly to avoid disgracing him. Although repeatedly rescued, he does not want to burden Su Chen and avoids seeking him out whenever difficulties arise 102 561.

His appetite for battle can become recklessness. Against Gui Ming, he welcomes a formidable opponent despite Liu Mengli’s warning to flee; his activated bloodline also reinforces his refusal to retreat 386. His fierceness coexists with humility: after defeating Nan Yun under restricted conditions, he acknowledges the senior’s restraint and identifies shortcomings in his own fighting 86.

Lin Fan strongly resents unfairness and abuse of power, particularly when Wang Chu’s connections invalidate his examination results 557. His generosity and loyalty can override self-preservation: he yields an inheritance for Jiang Xin and later risks his life to protect Jianxin 193 823.
