Luffy and his allies built a force to rescue Kid and challenge Kaido, while Luffy, Zoro, and Kid learned Ryuo in Udon. The alliance landed on Onigashima and faced Kaido as the battle began.

• Kin'emon and Raizo investigated Wano as the Straw Hats split up, but Luffy secretly followed Zoro to the Flower Capital.
• Zoro and Luffy clashed with Apoo, Hawkins, Bege, and Drake, then escaped Ulti and Page One before Law gathered them to plan an alliance against Kaido.
• Kaido attacked the Flower Capital, where Luffy and Zoro confronted him but were defeated and sent to Udon Prison.
• In Udon, Hyogoro taught Luffy, Zoro, and Kid Ryuo, and Law and the alliance freed the prisoners and defeated Queen.
• After the alliance regrouped, Luffy studied Kozuki Oden’s journal and resolved to learn Conqueror’s Haki Coating as Kin'emon gathered forces across Wano.
• Law and the others organized a fleet of eight hundred fighters, and the alliance sailed from Kuri toward Onigashima as Kaido prepared to meet Luffy.
• The alliance landed on Onigashima under cover of darkness and fought through the Beasts Pirates as Luffy and the others advanced toward the Skull Palace.
• Kaido appeared above the plaza and fired Bolo Breath at Luffy, but Kin'emon stepped in front of him and countered with Blazing Flame Slash.

Luffy and the Straw Hat Alliance fought Kaido as Roy pushed the battle toward Luffy’s awakening, while the Marines arrived and clashed with the Beasts Pirates. After Roy defeated Ryokugyu and Luffy appeared to die, Luffy’s presence returned beneath the Skull Dome as his Gum-Gum Fruit began awakening.

• Kin'emon rallied the samurai against Kaido, and Luffy struck Kaido with King Kong Gun as the alliance joined the rooftop battle.
• Roy sent King and the Beasts Pirates officers to attack the samurai and Mink Tribe, while Robin deciphered the Road Poneglyph in Roy’s secret chamber and learned that its routes pointed toward Laugh Tale.
• Kaido overwhelmed the alliance and badly injured Luffy, but Law and Chopper treated him, and Luffy returned to the fight with his allies.
• Luffy learned to use Conqueror’s Haki Coating against Kaido, while Roy urged Kaido to use his strongest techniques to push Luffy to the brink of death.
• Kaido defeated Luffy with Thunder Bagua, leaving him motionless in a crater, as Garp and the Marines advanced on Onigashima.
• Garp fought Kaido while Roy battled the Marines, defeating Ryokugyu after using the Dark-Dark Fruit and Soul-Soul Fruit against him.
• Kaido sensed Luffy’s presence returning beneath the Skull Dome and told Garp that Luffy was alive as the Gum-Gum Fruit began awakening.

Luffy awakened his Nika powers in Wano, but Kaido and Roy defeated the alliance and drove the Straw Hats to retreat. After months of training and a visit to Hachinosu, Luffy learned that the final Road Poneglyph was in Elbaf and sailed there as Roy prepared his own plan.

• Luffy awakened his Nika powers, recovered from his wounds, and faced Roy and Kaido on Onigashima.
• Roy and Kaido defeated the alliance’s attempt to escape, but Roy let the Straw Hats flee so Luffy could master his unstable awakening.
• The Marines withdrew from the New World as Roy took Sengoku and Ryokugyu to Hachinosu, where Vegapunk supplied Devil Fruits to strengthen Roy’s allies.
• The Five Elders attacked Luffy and the Whitebeard Pirates, then retreated after Luffy and Ace drove Saint Garling away.
• Luffy brought the Straw Hats to Hachinosu, where Kuina reunited with Zoro and the crew sparred with the island’s powerful fighters.

Roy gathered allies and prepared to strike as the World Government moved against Elbaf, where Luffy’s search for Shanks drew him into conflict with Loki and Imu. The arc ended with Loki and Luffy confronting Imu, Gaban critically wounded, and Roy’s forces advancing toward the battle.

• Roy warned Fish-Man Island and Amazon Lily of the World Government’s plans, then helped relocate their people to Hachinosu-controlled islands.
• Roy secured Dragon’s agreement to attack Marine forces and mobilized Hachinosu’s allies for the coming battle at Elbaf.
• Luffy reunited with Dorry, Brogy, and Saul on Elbaf, then went to the Underworld to question Loki about Shanks.
• Luffy freed Loki despite Loki admitting he had lied, and their clash ignited Treasure Tree Adam and spread flames across Elbaf.
