In the Consciousness Prison, an illusion used his teacher’s voice to attack his confidence, claiming that he was unfit for research. Recognizing the sketch of his first-prize graduation project allowed him to reject the accusation and escape his memory cocoon 47.

He also sought a route to the group’s original world. At Reincarnation Ferry, he noticed a tiny star on the Realm Stele and asked whether it represented that world; the Spirit Ferryman confirmed that it did 36.

Lu Mu wears glasses, carries a backpack of instruments and supplies, and is later shown with a mechanical arm 40 44 50.

His curiosity persists even when exploration is dangerous. He volunteers to enter the Realm of Nothingness because his detector has not scanned it before. He is also willing to abandon a conventional solution: during the Tower of Time’s Wisdom Trial, he draws on Xiao Yan’s principle of symbiosis and pursues a draw rather than victory 46 48.

He protects his companions at personal risk. At the Gu Clan altar, he forces an already strained formation to restrain an Evil Clan Warlord, and later shields the half-conscious Lin Xiuya during memory turbulence 30 47.

Flame-Locking Fragments and the Gu Clan Ruins

Lu Mu joins Xiao Yan’s team as its Array Department specialist. In the Ten Thousand Beasts Forest, he guides the search with the Ancient Map, retrieves the Thunder Valley fragment, and strengthens the beast souls during Mo Feng’s attack. His contact with the fragment also grants him the Thunder Pattern Array Technique 24.

After the Ice River Valley expedition, he and Xiao Yan discover that the Flame-Locking Array and Beast Soul Altar designs form a continental map. He activates the teleportation formation leading toward the Gu Clan ruins, where his inscription reading reveals the ancient contract between Heavenly Flames and beast souls 25 26.

Mother of Heavenly Flames and the Evil Clan

In the Central Plains Volcano Cluster, Lu Mu reconstructs the Flame-Sealing Stele’s account of the Mother of Heavenly Flames. He subsequently directs construction of the Myriad Flames Returning to the Origin Array and confirms that it can temporarily suppress her remnant soul 27 28.

During the Gu Clan altar defense, his Eight Desolations Evil-Locking Formation helps contain the invasion. Afterward, he identifies the seal-repair materials and leads the expedition with Lin Yan and Hu Gan that uncovers the Evil Clan Mother Nest’s location. In Heavenly Mist City, he recognizes similarities between the Blood Sacrifice Array and the Gu Clan secret ground’s protective formation 30 31 32.

Mirror, Causality, and the Search for Home

Lu Mu explains the Mist Forest’s trials and helps defeat its guardians. In Mirror Image City, he finds a time fragment revealing scenes of the Myriad Phenomena Mirror’s past and future. At Reincarnation Ferry, he identifies the overlapping realm laws and helps counter the Elemental Prison’s attack by diverting its energy rain. His discovery of the star representing their original world gives the group a concrete clue in its search for home 36.

Across the Elemental Prison, Mechanical City, Spirit Plant Realm, and Crystal Core Star, Lu Mu supplies navigation, technical support, and environmental countermeasures. He helps heal the World Tree Sapling and later uncovers footage of a guardian beast leader’s sacrifice while investigating the Withering Virus 38 39 40 41 43.

His analysis remains central at Starfall Pavilion and the Cloud Sea Heavenly Palace, where he exposes mirror-image delays and identifies formation mechanisms. He then accompanies Xiao Yan into the Heaven Burning Ancient Domain and the Realm of Nothingness 44 45 46.

Plane Guardian Missions

In the Realm of Nothingness, Lu Mu helps stabilize the time anchor, escapes his memory cocoon, and uncovers the Time Hourglass’s use of painful memories. He passes the Tower of Time’s Wisdom Trial before the group purifies the Core of Chaos and becomes Plane Guardians. After detecting three more colonizer-controlled planes, he departs with the others for the Forgotten Plane 47 48.

There, he locates the Soul-Devouring Mother Tree and helps Xiao Yan purify the Heart of the Star Core more efficiently. At Fallen Star Canyon, his mechanical arm and Void Cage support the assault on the Soul Devourers, and he assesses the armor fragments needed for Xiao Yan to enter the unstable Void Rift 49 50.
