Background / History

Xiao Clan Crisis and Departure

Xiao Huohuo’s father, Xiao Zhan, disappears after a devastating attack on the Xiao Clan. The ruined residence and the suffering of the clan’s women and children become memories that drive him to grow stronger. His father’s capture gives particular urgency to his training under Yao Lao 164 168 294.

After becoming Yao Lao’s disciple, he trains daily, refines medicine, and rebuilds his cultivation. Although he cannot reveal his teacher’s existence to Xun’er, he confides in the otherworldly Xiao Yan, whose Soul Origin is identical to his own 164.

Once he regains Dou Zhe cultivation, he chooses to leave Wutan City rather than wait another year for Jia Nan Academy’s recruitment. He spends two days with Xun’er, promises to meet her at the academy, and leaves medicinal liquids and pills to support the Xiao Clan’s younger disciples 165 167.

Magical Beast Mountain Range

Yao Lao gives him the Heavy Xuan Ruler as both a weapon and a training burden. Its weight and suppression of Dou Qi make travel exhausting, but force him to strengthen his body and improve his control 168 169.

During an attempted robbery, the One-Star Dou Zhe Xiao Huohuo fights a Five-Star opponent. He discovers the hidden force of Eight Extremes Collapse and wounds him, but exhausts his Dou Qi before securing victory. Xiao Yan intervenes to save him; the battle subsequently provides the opportunity for his Two-Star breakthrough 171 172 173.

His encounters with the Wolf Head Mercenary Group teach him to expect ambushes, poison, and numerical attacks rather than fair combat. He begins using traps, medicinal substances, terrain, and Magical Beasts against his pursuers. After the group places a bounty on him, he eventually joins Xiao Yi Xian in destroying it 189 190 192 271 273.

During this training period, he masters Flame Splitting Wave Ruler and proves that the Flame Mantra can evolve by devouring a wisp of Xiao Yan’s flame Martial Soul. The unexpected copying of four Soul Skills gives him defensive and offensive options beyond ordinary Dou Techniques 184 187.

Desert Training and the Heavenly Flame Search

After absorbing Xiao Yan’s Green Lotus Core Flame, Xiao Huohuo travels toward the Tagor Desert. In Desert City, he recognizes a fragment associated with the Purifying Lotus Demon Flame and attracts the attention of its powerful shopkeeper, Hai Bodong 273 275 276.

Hunting Fire Lizards and absorbing a Fire Spirit Fruit raise him to Peak Nine-Star Dou Shi. He then reunites with Xiao Ding and Xiao Li in Stone Desert City and promises to bring their father back 282 285 287.

With assistance from his brothers’ Desert Iron Mercenary Group and Qing Lin, he searches an underground magma chamber for the Green Lotus Core Flame. The flame itself is missing: Queen Medusa has already taken it. He instead collects its lotus platform and twelve seeds, leaving the stem intact so it can grow again 288 290.

When the Sand Mercenary Group attacks his companions, he defeats its force and demands the antidote for their poisoned wounds. Before leaving, he and Xiao Yan confront its leadership with Yao Lao’s support to prevent retaliation against his brothers 291 292.

Xiao Huohuo later infiltrates the Snake-People’s Holy City in disguise and reaches the sealed flame. Medusa refuses their offer, however, and he urges Yao Lao to withdraw rather than risk a costly battle. Medusa subsequently swallows the flame to force her evolution 302 305 348.

Jia Nan Academy and the Fallen Heart Flame

At Jia Nan Academy, Xiao Huohuo challenges the Strong Ranking and defeats the previous class’s third-ranked student on his first day in the Inner Academy. He also founds Pan Gate, turning a loose collection of students into an influential organization 492.

His attempt to obtain the Fallen Heart Flame leaves him severely injured beneath the Blazing Sky Qi Refining Tower. Xiao Yan repairs his shattered meridians and helps locate and restrain the flame’s Heart Flame. Yao Lao extracts a wisp for Xiao Huohuo to swallow before falling into slumber 362 363 364.

For nearly two years, the academy believes Xiao Huohuo dead. A statue stands before the tower, his friends commemorate his disappearance, and Pan Gate continues expanding using the cultivation framework he left behind. In reality, he survives in the Magma World and fuses with the Fallen Heart Flame 492.

An uncontrolled resonance between the Fallen Heart Flame and Medusa’s bloodline causes an incident that leaves her intent on killing him. Yao Lao mediates a temporary truce, explains that neither acted freely, and instructs Xiao Huohuo to apologize and offer Seventh-Grade Pills as compensation 493 515.

Han Feng and the Return Home

After returning, Xiao Huohuo pursues Han Feng alongside Xiao Yan and Medusa. Having learned how Han Feng betrayed Yao Lao, he resolves to punish his teacher’s former disciple. With Yao Lao’s spiritual power supporting him, he fights Han Feng and later coordinates with Xiao Yan against Protector Wu 498 500 502.

He then helps the injured Xiao Yan recover, arranging a secluded residence in Pan Gate’s bamboo grove and supplying healing pills. Privately, he also encourages Xiao Yan to speak about the events on the Douluo Continent that left him injured and emotionally burdened 504 505.

At Peak Dou Wang, Xiao Huohuo returns to the Jia Ma Empire to settle the Xiao Clan’s affairs before traveling to the Central Plains. Information from Xun’er leads him to suspect the Hun Clan’s involvement in his family’s disaster 509.

He discovers that the clan has relocated to the imperial capital with support from the Nalan Family and Hai Bodong. After reuniting with his brothers, he distributes suitable cultivation methods and Dou Techniques, restricting access to Earth Tier methods to avoid making the recovering clan a target 510 514 516.

He departs toward the Central Plains with Xiao Yan and Yao Lao. Medusa remains behind to lead and protect the Snake-People Tribe, while Yao Lao directs him to improve his control and fusion of Heavenly Flames 516.

• Face and eyes: Has dark pupils and a face identical to the Douluo World’s Xiao Yan, enough to make Xiao Ding and Xiao Li question their resemblance 187 287.

Personality

Xiao Huohuo presents an easy smile to outsiders despite carrying anger, grief, and responsibility for his clan. Once he commits to a decision, he is difficult to dissuade; even his attachment to Wutan City and Xun’er cannot overcome his determination to rescue his father 164 167 168.

His willingness to risk himself is balanced by growing judgment. He initially chases advanced techniques eagerly, but accepts Yao Lao’s warning against neglecting his fundamentals. Later, he independently suppresses a possible breakthrough to protect his cultivation foundation 173 285.

He is loyal to those who help him. He openly credits Yao Lao with giving him another chance, condemns Han Feng’s betrayal, and repays the Nalan Family’s support rather than dismissing the obligations attached to his engagement 305 498 512.

With Xiao Yan, he is playful and frequently argumentative, yet also attentive to distress. When Xiao Yan withdraws into cultivation, he stops pressing him to socialize and instead quietly brings tea and snacks 168 504 515.
