Background / History
Origins and Position
Baihuaxiang originated as a rare flower in the Forest of Ten Thousand Demons and became the leader of its Flower Demon Clan. Despite controlling her own territory, she was oppressed by other tribes and sought Demon Venerable Wanhai’s protection. Daoist Qingxu attributed her difficulties partly to an origin inferior to that of ancient exotic beasts 21 32.
She claimed that her daughter was about to become Wanhai’s wife. Ye Lingtian also stated that she had poor relations with the forest’s other demon saints, undermining her suggestion that the entire forest would support her against the Primordial Sect 23 27.
Confrontation over Tang San
Baihuaxiang appeared while Su Mingyue was holding Tang San, having quietly put several accompanying Primordial Sect disciples to sleep. She demanded custody of him, professing curiosity about his mixed human and demon blood. Su Mingyue refused because Tang San had taken many lives and remained subject to the sect’s law enforcement 21.
Although Baihuaxiang initially insisted that she did not want to offend the Primordial Sect, she became hostile when challenged. After detecting Ye Lingtian watching nearby, she acknowledged that his spiritual sense had reached Nascent Soul strength despite his Golden Core cultivation 21 22.
She seized Tang San with wooden vines and fled, only to be stopped more than ten li away by Ye Lingtian’s formation. Unable to break its Yin and Yang Qi barrier, she turned her attacks on Ye Lingtian and Su Mingyue 23 24.
Battle and Loss of Her Body
Baihuaxiang overwhelmed the two disciples with corrosive flower poison and returning light blades. Her defensive petals resisted their sword techniques and treasures until Ye Lingtian concentrated his remaining spiritual power into a final strike. He shattered one petal, then dispersed his sword Qi into threads that cut her face and severely wounded Tang San 25.
Enraged by the injury to her face, she shattered the Clear Profound Sword and launched a full-strength attack at Ye Lingtian. Su Mingyue moved to intercept it, but Ye Lingtian’s true natal treasure, the Lingtian Sword, protected them both without sustaining damage 25 26.
Daoist Qingxu then manifested through an External Avatar Talisman. Baihuaxiang tried to excuse the battle as playing with juniors, fled with Tang San, and finally invoked her children and Wanhai as potential avengers. Qingxu immobilized her and destroyed her body regardless 27.
Her Nascent Soul escaped with Tang San. Qingxu deliberately allowed it to flee so that Ye Lingtian and Su Mingyue could eventually settle their own karma with her 28.
Possession Attempt and Desolate Qi
After hiding underground a hundred li away, Baihuaxiang emerged with Tang San and blamed him for the loss of her cultivation. She examined his metal-wood spiritual root and judged that his half-demon physique compensated for both its lack of pure wood affinity and his poor cultivation 29.
She entered his body to possess him. His Blue Silver Emperor Martial Soul shattered, and a flowering branch resembling her Nascent Soul grew from his hand and enclosed him in a wooden cocoon 29 30.
Before she could finish devouring Tang San’s soul, Desolate Qi spread throughout his sea of consciousness. Baihuaxiang recognized it as the target she had originally left the Forest of Ten Thousand Demons to find, but her disembodied divine sense could neither suppress it nor withstand its attacks 35.
She hesitated to abandon the possession because the Heavenly Dao permitted only one attempt in a cultivator’s lifetime; retreat would leave her to survive as a ghost cultivator. That hesitation cost her the chance to escape. The Desolate Qi seized her Nascent Soul, dragged it beneath the sea of consciousness, and began consuming it 35.
Appearance
- Human form: An elderly woman wearing brightly colored clothing 21.
- Original nature: A rare flower that cultivated into a flower demon 32.
- Nascent Soul: A multicolored, bewitching flower capable of fleeing independently after her body’s destruction 28.
- Battle injuries: Ye Lingtian’s dispersed sword threads leave numerous cuts across her face 25.
Personality
Baihuaxiang places great importance on seniority and deference. She demands that Su Mingyue address her as a senior and treats resistance from Golden Core cultivators as an affront to her Nascent Soul standing 21 22 23.
Her caution toward powerful factions gives way to cruelty when she believes she controls the situation. She initially avoids killing the Primordial Sect disciples, but later deliberately torments Ye Lingtian and Su Mingyue rather than immediately ending their resistance. Once her face is injured, she abandons concern for the consequences and attempts to kill Ye Lingtian 21 25.
Her treatment of Tang San is entirely self-serving: the apparent rescue secures a body she covets, not a person she wishes to protect. Faced with Daoist Qingxu, her confidence collapses into appeasement, flight, and threats of retaliation through stronger connections 27 29.
Abilities & Skills
Flower Poison
Baihuaxiang releases dark green poison and poisonous pollen capable of corroding terrain, clothing, and flesh 24 25.
- One strike destroys a mountain; she claims it used only thirty percent of her strength 24 25.
- Condenses widespread poison into a tidal wave that overwhelms Su Mingyue’s saber attack and corrodes her heavenly silkworm silk robe 25.
- Leaves lingering poison that Ye Lingtian finishes expelling during his recovery in a spiritual spring 34.
Wooden Vines
She summons large wooden vines from the ground for capture and direct attacks 23.
- Uses vines to extract Tang San from confinement before fleeing with him 23.
- Produces attacking vines more than ten meters wide 23.
- Cannot breach Ye Lingtian’s modified formation with them 24.
Defensive Petals
Bright red flower petals form barriers durable enough to resist the disciples’ strongest ordinary attacks 25.
- Withstand Heavenly Dipper Sword Intent, the Soul-Suppressing Golden Chain, and the Heavenly Fire Blazing Sun Talisman 25.
- One petal breaks under Ye Lingtian’s concentrated final sword strike 25.
Light Blades
She projects cutting blades of light, including attacks whose trajectory she can redirect 25.
- A pink blade returns after Ye Lingtian initially dodges it, cutting his back 25.
- Her full-strength green blade is blocked by the Lingtian Sword without damaging it 25 26.
Spiritual Sense and Nascent Soul Survival
Her spiritual sense detects concealed cultivators and surviving opponents, while her Nascent Soul preserves her consciousness after bodily destruction 22 26 28.
- Detects Ye Lingtian at close range and recognizes his unusually strong spiritual sense 22.
- Senses that Su Mingyue remains alive after the full-strength light-blade attack 26.
- Escapes in Nascent Soul form at a speed exceeding the normal Early Nascent Soul standard 28.
- Her exposed divine sense is ineffective against Desolate Qi, which devours it on contact 35.
Body Possession
Baihuaxiang can attempt to seize another body by entering it with her Nascent Soul and devouring its occupant’s soul 29 35.
- Selects Tang San’s half-demon physique for its combination of human comprehension and demonic bloodline talents 29.
- Must cultivate anew after obtaining a replacement body 28.
- Can attempt possession only once in her lifetime under the Heavenly Dao’s rules 35.
- Fails to complete the process before Desolate Qi captures her 35.
