"Who is it?"
Both the human experts on Luo Ao and Lawson's side and the dragons led by the five Saint-level dragons searched everywhere for the mysterious expert who had suddenly appeared.
"No need to look. I'm right here." Like a phantom, a gentle breeze suddenly swept past. The next instant, a beautiful woman dressed in green appeared right between the five Saint-level combatants on either side.
The beautiful woman had lovely golden curls and a tall, well-proportioned figure. The green dress she wore was made of some unknown material and brimmed with a fresh, natural aura.
"Lady Betty, you're here!" Both Elton the golden dragon and Lawson's group immediately bowed to the woman in green.
Is this the lady planar overseer? Luo Ao also bowed along with them, then raised his head to look her over. This was his first time seeing the lady planar overseer.
That strange voice technique just now should have been an application of the Profound Mysteries of Music within the Wind Law. Sensing the peculiar effect his soul had just experienced, Luo Ao grew somewhat thoughtful.
"Lady Betty, what instructions have you come to give us?" Before the planar overseer, everyone on both sides behaved as obediently as children. Not a trace remained of the tense atmosphere of drawn swords and bent bows from moments before.
According to my teacher, Lady Betty's strength far surpasses even his. I absolutely must not provoke her. Lawson understood the terror of the planar overseer more clearly than the others, and naturally dared not show the slightest negligence.
The Boya Continent was, in the end, a world where strength reigned supreme. Betty's arrival instantly drew everyone's attention.
"Hehe, no need to be nervous. A mere bit of Sacred Spring isn't something I care about. You can carry on with your competition." Betty waved a hand to indicate that they need not be so tense, then continued, "It's just that your competition is far too dull. There's no passion in it at all. The rules ought to be changed."
"Change the rules?" Both sides looked at one another, not understanding what Miss Betty meant. Still, no one raised any objections.
Rules were made by the strong in the first place. Never mind insignificant Saint-level experts like them-even if the Thunder God and Dragon God were here, they could not possibly go against Betty's wishes over this. Naturally, both sides could only wait patiently for Miss Betty to set their new rules.
"That's right. Your rules call for the best of five matches, with the fighting order fixed in advance and no changes allowed. Doesn't that give the weak a chance to win through trickery?" An inscrutable hint of a smile appeared on Betty's face. She seemed to glance at Lawson, who immediately lowered his head.
"You are absolutely right, Lady Betty. Those rules are indeed rather inappropriate." Lawson could only answer in accordance with Miss Betty's wishes.
"In my opinion, the rules should be a little simpler. Just set up an arena, and let any Saint-level expert from either side challenge whoever holds it." Betty lightly moved her finger, then continued, "Whichever side is left standing in the arena at the end wins."
"Lady Betty's new rules are indeed much more reasonable. We dragons have no objections." Elton the golden dragon immediately stated his position.
What a joke. Never mind that these rules favored the dragons-even if they deliberately targeted them, they could not possibly utter so much as a word of refusal.
"We have no objections either." Still respectful, Lawson immediately made his position clear.
However, both Luo Ao and Lawson could tell that these rules seemed to favor the dragons somewhat. They eliminated their strategy of "Tian Ji's horse racing," ultimately turning this into a pure contest between the strongest fighter on each side.
And in that case, the dragons clearly held the advantage. After all, although they were all at Peak Saint-level, Luo Ao and Lawson were ordinary humans, naturally no match for that genius dragon at the same level.
Is it because of that genius dragon? Luo Ao's gaze once again settled on the exceptionally beautiful dragon. Could Miss Betty think very highly of this dragon?
This made things a little troublesome. If Miss Betty was deliberately showing favoritism, he really could not go against her wishes.
If there was truly no other way, he could only find a way to trade for some Sacred Spring with experts who still had some left from before.
"Since I proposed the rules, I'll put up a little extra prize." Miss Betty, the planar overseer, then looked at both sides. "Whichever one of you wins in the end, I will grant them a treasure. Whether you want a Divine Artifact or a Divine Spark, either is fine."
"A Divine Artifact?"
"A Divine Spark?"
The Saint-level experts on both sides immediately began breathing rapidly. Leaving Divine Artifacts aside for the moment, a Divine Spark was an unsurpassed Supreme Treasure that could allow someone to become a god! Who would not want one?
However, only the final winner of this competition would receive that reward.
"A Divine Spark!" Luo Ao could plainly see Lawson's face beginning to flush red.
"Anyone? As long as we win, we can obtain a Divine Spark from you?" Seemingly suspecting that he had misheard, Lawson asked again uncertainly.
"That's right. In this competition, I only care about the final victor. Whoever it is, the reward will be the same." Miss Betty's affirmative words undoubtedly ignited the fighting spirit of the many Saint-level experts present in an instant.
Truthfully, a mere bit of Sacred Spring was not worth these Saint-level experts unleashing their full strength in battle. Thus, their previous competitions had only taken the form of sparring, and over all these years, there had basically been no serious casualties.
But now that the reward had been replaced with a Divine Spark, probably no one cared about the Sacred Spring anymore.
For the sake of a Divine Spark, neither side would likely hold anything back in this battle. Luo Ao could almost already foresee how brutal this arranged contest would become.
Lawson has probably been stuck at Peak Saint-level for too long as well. Looking at Lawson, who was clearly no longer so calm, Luo Ao could not help shaking his head.
Aside from Lawson, the other three Saint-level experts taking part, as well as those Saint-level dragons, all grew eager to try their hand.
If they could win in the end, they would become beings on par with the great Dragon God!
No Saint-level dragon could resist such temptation. Even quite a few Saint-level dragons who were not on the roster grew eager to give it a try.
After all, their previous contests had merely been over some spring water with a few unusual properties. Some of the powerful dragons could not be bothered to participate, but that did not mean these Saint-level dragons were all weaker than the five dragons selected to fight.
"Hmm, let me see. We'll put the arena for the challenges here. Which side will go first?" Miss Betty casually marked out an area, then turned her lovely gaze toward the two sides.
"I'll go first!" A deep, gloomy voice soon rang out across the entire gathering. It belonged to a black dragon over a hundred meters long, his enormous body covered in a layer of terrifyingly hard, pitch-black scales like rock.
"Whitehead. This big fellow has already comprehended some of the profound mysteries of the Darkness Law. He won't be easy to deal with." A man beside Lawson, dressed like a red-armored general, looked at the Saint-level Tyrannosaurus with apprehension.
This Tyrant Dragon had also been one of the dragons originally selected to fight. His strength was far beyond that of an ordinary Saint-level dragon.
A Tyrant Dragon? Its physical strength really is frightening. Luo Ao glanced at the big fellow's body and could not help shaking his head.
Dragons were primarily divided into ground dragons, whose forte was their powerful bodies, and aerial dragons, whose magical power was comparatively strong. The Tyrant Dragon stood at the pinnacle of the ground dragons, with a truly terrifying physique.
