Background / History
In his previous life, Luo Ao was an orphan who struggled alone and never experienced the warmth of a family. He accepted the opportunity to venture into other worlds with little hesitation. After being reborn on the Boya Continent, he grew attached to his new parents and elder sister, eventually forgetting his former name and embracing his identity as Luo Ao 1 2.
His father, Bourne, taught him battle-qi, while his mother, Mansha, was the legitimate daughter of an earl of the Darren Empire. Although his family circumstances could have supported an idle life, Luo Ao pursued cultivation to secure longevity and make use of the Myriad Worlds Pearl. Reaching Saint level was his immediate priority because it granted eternal life before the Pearl’s lengthy cooldown could become a threat 2.
His knowledge of the Coiling Dragon World helped him recognize dangers beyond the continent’s visible powers. He also understood that he lacked the Earth and Wind affinities needed to reproduce Linley’s path, and instead set Paragon as a long-term cultivation goal 1 2.
Appearance
- Original body: A handsome young man with long black hair, star-like eyes, and a warm smile; he stands less than two meters tall 3 7 8.
- Clothing: Wears a simple white robe for his academy visit, but prefers armor while adventuring. He wears Azure Battle Armor during the duel on the Azure River 6 9.
- Fire divine clone: Identical in facial appearance to his original body, with long fiery-red hair, crimson eyebrows, and a red robe 27.
- Water divine clone: Identical in bodily appearance to his original body; he clothes it in an ocean-blue robe formed from divine power 28.
Personality
Luo Ao is ambitious but wary of mistaking exceptional talent for invincibility. He trains so intensely that he loses track of time, yet recognizes when opponents exceed his current abilities. His refusal to fight Valko reflects this restraint: he will not expose his hidden strength and risk provoking Betty merely to avenge Wayne, whom he barely knew 9 14 24.
Family is a central motive behind his decisions. Having lacked one in his previous life, he seeks both protection and longevity for his relatives—subduing Steven as a guardian, searching for life-extending treasures, and obtaining a Divine Spark for Bourne. He also wants a romantic companion capable of sharing the cultivation path rather than someone he must watch grow old and die 2 4 5 11 25 31.
He values personal strength over political influence and avoids unnecessary entanglement with visiting nobles. This does not make him discourteous: he treats his father’s acquaintance Ladar respectfully and acknowledges the emperor and academy headmaster with proper etiquette 5 6.
Abilities & Skills
Two-Element Soul Mutation
His water–fire soul mutation allows him to combine powers that ordinary cultivators cannot fuse 26.
- Fusing Water and Fire Lowgod divine power increases attack power tenfold, bringing it close to God-level power 26.
- After Fire advances to God while Water remains Lowgod, the imbalance makes fusion less effective than using Fire God power alone 34.
- Once both elements reach God, their fused power rivals Highgod power 46.
- His documented mutation involves two elements, despite his separate cultivation of Destruction 26 39.
Soul Strength and Perception
The Pearl’s nourishment and his soul mutation give Luo Ao a soul far stronger than that of an ordinary cultivator at the same realm 26 34.
- As a new Fire Lowgod, he can already draw upon the deepest accessible Lowgod divine power in the Fire Elemental Sea 26.
- His Fire God breakthrough raises the limit of his soul’s growth to the Highgod level; his soul later rivals a Highgod’s 34 44.
- Asol’s concealed soul attack poses no threat to him 44.
- Powerful perception does not automatically expose sophisticated techniques: he initially cannot distinguish Shadow’s true body from his clones 33.
- His own soul-attack methods remain comparatively unsophisticated at his Fire God breakthrough 34.
Edicts of Destruction
Luo Ao initially understands a portion of Destruction resembling the Earth Law’s profound mystery of Strength, despite having no Earth affinity 6 8.
- Thousand-Jun Descent: Gives his sword mountain-like striking weight through a strength-focused application of Destruction 3.
- World Destruction: Combines overwhelming force with concentrated vibration, injuring opponents through direct weapon clashes 8 9 10.
- Wide-area variant: Spreads World Destruction across a broader area to counter agile enemies or multiple attacks, sacrificing concentrated power 14.
- Enhanced strike: A Pearl-assisted application matches Gelike’s Great Destruction sword aura 14.
- Its resemblance to Earth techniques causes Gaspar to misidentify his cultivation 10.
Fire Laws and Transformations
Fusion of Fire Element and the Fire Body Technique expands his combat options beyond swordsmanship 18 19.
- Forms flame armor and an elemental giant, later transforming into a blazing lion 18 19.
- Starflame Fist: Condenses a flaming tiger’s head over his fist 19.
- Star Flame Thrust: His strongest killing move at the time of Shadow’s visit; delivered through the Crimson Annihilation Divine Sword 33.
- Transforms into a flame divine dragon over a hundred meters long and releases a firestorm against Shadow’s clones 33.
- Develops separate insights into combustion and extreme heat while cultivating his existing fusion 32.
- Uses A Spark Sets the Prairie Ablaze as his strongest ultimate move during the crisis against Asol 45.
Water Laws and Magic
Luo Ao’s understanding begins with the Essence of Water and later extends to the Water Body Technique 16 28 45.
- Turns a basic Waterball Spell into a powerful Spiral of Water while exchanging insights with Martin 17.
- Creates lifelike elemental creatures, including a Deep Sea Demon Dragon; their power exceeds his earlier rigid Elemental Battle Beasts by more than tenfold 28.
- Finds Water cultivation substantially harder than Fire cultivation. Mastering the Water Body Technique requires a life-or-death breakthrough 39 46.
- Begins studying Mist Illusion during his journey through the Infernal Realm 50.
Divine Clones
He chooses external Divine Sparks to preserve his original body and establish separate divine clones 26 28.
- His original body and fire clone cultivate the Water Law simultaneously before his second elemental ascension 27 28.
- His fire and water clones can merge into his original body 28.
- Soul-splitting causes severe pain and temporary depletion, but the Pearl restores the damage within days 26 29.
Martial Instruction
Luo Ao teaches weapon foundations, controlled use of strength, momentum, and the relationship between cultivation and the natural laws 6 7.
- Guides Steven toward using a staff and comprehending Strength through principles shared with Destruction 6.
- Demonstrates the force of heaven and earth by depressing a section of training-hall ground at least ten meters across 7.
- Provides individual corrections to academy students, with particular attention to Lansi 7.
- Emphasizes both survival and the necessity of life-and-death tempering 6 7.
Equipment / Weapons / Items
- Myriad Worlds Pearl — The treasure that brought him to Boya. Continuously improves physical and soul aptitude, nourishes his soul, and can transmit its energy to Steven through their master-servant contract 2 4 26.
- Azure Nightmare Sword — A longsword forged from azure nightmare stone, used to subdue Steven and demonstrate momentum at the academy 3 4 7.
- Crimson Annihilation Divine Sword — Produces insubstantial black flames with soul-attacking effects when supplied with Fire divine power. Luo Ao also uses it to tear open the passage into Stalag Planar Prison 26 43.
- Azure Battle Armor — Worn during his duel with Gaspar 9 10.
- Black Longsword — A Divine Artifact shattered by Asol’s newly acquired Sovereign Artifact 45.
- Blue-green Sovereign Spark — Obtained from spatial turbulence during the battle with Asol. Luo Ao cannot immediately bind and refine it; its refinement is not documented in the supplied events 45.
- Ice-crystal longsword — A gift from Shadow delivered through Nicole before Luo Ao leaves Boya. Stronger than the Crimson Annihilation Divine Sword, but inferior to Asol’s offensive Sovereign Artifact 47.
- Sacred Spring — Received from Lawson and brought home to extend his parents’ and sister’s lives for several thousand years 25.
- Korno’s spoils — Collects his Divine Spark, Space Ring, and Divine Artifacts. Gives the darkness Divine Spark, containing the Shadow Clone Technique, to Bourne 30 31.
Relationships
- Bourne — Father and first battle-qi teacher. Luo Ao gives him Korno’s Divine Spark and protects him during its refinement; Bourne later supports his departure for the Infernal Realm 2 31 46.
- Mansha — Mother. Her affection helps him embrace his new life; she also encourages a possible match with Princess Alexia 2 5.
- Nicole — Elder sister. Despite childhood teasing, they are close. She delivers Shadow’s sword and promises to join Luo Ao in the Infernal Realm after becoming a deity 5 47.
- Steven — Purple-Eyed Golden-Haired Ape bound by a master-servant contract. Luo Ao subdues him to guard his family, heals him, and instructs him in cultivation 4 6.
- Echidna — Divine-beast companion and fellow traveler. They investigate Boya’s emerging threats together and leave for the Infernal Realm as a pair 38 39 41 47 50.
- Wind God Darren — Ally whose revenge against Korno Luo Ao helps complete. Darren guards his Water breakthrough and considers following him afterward 28 30 31.
- Lawson — Fellow Divine Fire Trial participant who recruits him for the Sacred Spring contest and later gives him the remaining spring water 19 25.
- Lansi — Academy student selected as his sparring partner and given special instruction at Ladar’s request 6 7.
- Gelike — Senior Destruction swordsman who wounds Luo Ao in a duel, acknowledges his enhanced attack, and tells him about the Tower of Black 14.
- Betty — Planar overseer whose interference helps drive Luo Ao toward secluded cultivation. He later seeks her assistance with the damaged prison seal 24 25 41 42.
- Shadow — Mysterious expert who tests Luo Ao in combat and later sends him a powerful sword through Nicole 33 47.
- Asol — Planar Prison opponent whose acquisition of a Sovereign Artifact nearly kills Luo Ao, triggering his Water God breakthrough 44 45 46.
Story Role / Major Arcs
Saint-Level Debut
- Enters Firefly Forest to obtain a Saint-level guardian for his family and learns that his old friend Greet has died challenging a Shadow Demon Panther. He suspects their one-sided duel three years earlier helped drive Greet’s reckless decision 2 6.
- Defeats Steven in his strongest specialty—physical strength—and secures his submission 3 4.
- Teaches the Darren Academy’s elite students, then defeats Gaspar above the Azure River by baiting him into a decisive head-on clash. The victory makes veteran Saint-level experts take him seriously 6 7 10 11.
Continental Travels and the Sacred Spring
- Seeks Gelike for insight into Destruction, then gains Water comprehension on the Dream Star River and begins Fire fusion during the Divine Fire Trial 12 14 16 18 19.
- Joins Lawson’s side in the Sacred Spring contest. Betty’s intervention, Wayne’s death, and the humans’ defeat expose how little protection Saint-level strength provides against deities 19 21 24 25.
- Returns home with life-extending spring water and cultivates in seclusion until becoming a Fire Lowgod 25.
Deityhood and Boya’s Guardian
- Becomes a Water deity, helps Darren kill Korno, and uses the recovered darkness Divine Spark to advance Bourne 28 30 31.
- Reaches Fire God and confronts Aogemate, whose regime demands submission or exile from Boya’s experts. Aogemate’s defeat leads nations to establish temples honoring Luo Ao as the Guardian God of Boya 34 35 38.
- Travels with Echidna and investigates Weiersi, an escaped God whose arrival reveals a damaged connection to Stalag Planar Prison 39 41.
Stalag Planar Prison
- Sends his Water divine clone through the breach to investigate and guard it. Misleads pursuers chasing a dark elf woman, drawing their hostility 43.
- Fights Asol and obtains a Sovereign Spark from spatial turbulence, while Asol obtains an immediately usable offensive Sovereign Artifact 44 45.
- Survives through his Water God breakthrough. Chooses not to pursue the fleeing Asol because, even after his strength increases, he cannot confidently defeat an opponent wielding that weapon 45 46.
Departure for the Infernal Realm
- Leaves Boya with Echidna after saying farewell to his family and receiving Shadow’s ice-crystal sword. They decline Betty’s offer to travel to the Radiant Divine Realm 47.
- Reaches Redbud Prefecture after ten years aboard a Metal Lifeform. Joins the Sinking Fire Tribe for one Inkstone, seeking a peaceful place to cultivate rather than employment as a miner 50.
